AREA OF EXPERTISE I am a licensed marriage and family therapist with a certification in sexuality education. As an educator, I am an experiential teacher dedicated to preparing students for their career paths through affective-based learning techniques. Grounded in Black Feminist Thought, Adult Learning Theory and Social Learning Theory, I create a learning atmosphere that explores belief systems, considers the evidenced based science and how it is applicable in the real world.

In therapy, I use a person centered, trauma-focused, emotional centered approach. With my systems training I work to help a person actualize their whole self in healing. This is especially important for marginalized communities who experience trauma at the highest rates in the population. PUBLICATIONS Books Brown-James, Alexcis. (2018).
