Popular comedians Tom Papa and Fortune Feimster will co-host What A Joke with Papa and Fortune weekdays during the prime driving hours of 7:00 – 9:00 am PT / 10:00 am – 12:00 pm ET. The new show will broadcast live from SiriusXM's expanded broadcast center and performance space in Los Angeles. What A Joke with Papa and Fortune will be a hilarious show in which the co-hosts hang out with fellow comedians, interview celebrities, and cover everything from their personal lives, to the world of comedy, to the day's trending topics. They'll also play clips from Netix's exclusive and unparalleled library of top comedy specials. "I just wanted an excuse to spend more time with Fortune. That it's on Netix Is A Joke Radio on SiriusXM is really just a bonus," said Papa. "I'm so excited for this new venture with Tom and Netix on SiriusXM," added Feimster. Beginning in late-summer, Netix Is A Joke Radio will roll out new shows every month from some of today's favorite comedians including Jo Koy, Iliza Shlesinger and Katherine Ryan. The limited programs will feature talent such as Sam Jay, Tiany Haddish and the comedians from Tiany Haddish's They Ready stand- up series, and others in a multi-part original series. Also launching the week of July 15 are Netix Is A Joke Radio celebrity "takeovers." During each takeover, a famous comedian will commandeer the station, playing clips from their favorite specials and celebrating the world of stand- up. Climate Change Communication in Late-Night Comedy Television Serena A. Ingram Abstract This thesis explores why traditional climate change communication often fails in the mainstream news media and how late-night comedy television circumvents these problems. These late-night shows provide humorous news coverage that holds politicians and the press accountable for enabling denialist rhetoric. The first chapter sources data from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, and the Yale Project on Climate Change Communication to outline the issues of climate change and public understanding of climate science. The second chapter describes how rhetorical analysis can identify effective or ineffective climate communication strategies. It also discusses the emotional factors that surround climate change, and how humor strengthens communication and unifies individuals toward a common goal. The third chapter addresses the issue of politically spun news and information biases in climate reporting. It details how political figures influence news coverage of climate change and spin the news to reinforce their own agendas. The fourth chapter provides examples and analysis of climate change related segments from Last Week Tonight with John Oliver, The Daily Show with Trevor Noah, and Saturday Night Live’s “Weekend Update.” The fifth chapter applies the principles of late-night comedy and climate change communication to potential government policy and more mainstream television news.

China’s power sector carbon emissions could be in decline by 2027. Beijing, 27 August 2013 – China’s power sector is expected to go through significant changes through to 2030, according to a new report released by Bloomberg New Energy Finance. China will add 88GW of new power plants annually from now until 2030, which is equivalent to building the UK’s total generating capacity every year. China is already the world’s largest power generator and its largest carbon emitter. Over the next two decades China could add more than 1,500GW of new generating capacity and invest more than $3.9 trillion in power sector assets. However, as a result of shifts in generation mix, China’s total power sector emissions could start declining as early as 2027. Bloomberg New Energy Finance analysed China’s power sector based on four scenarios. In the central scenario, dubbed ‘New Normal’, China’s total power generation capacity more than doubles by 2030, with renewables including large hydro contributing more than half of all new capacity additions. This, together with an increase in gas-based generation, would drive the share of coal-fired power generation capacity down from 67% in 2012 to 44% in 2030.
