“ESF is what brought me to New York state in the first place,” said Joe Martens, “and it had a profound influence on my career and life path.” A native of Connecticut, Martens has called New York home ever since he came to ESF for graduate school and then went to Albany for an internship with the state assembly to complement the work in his master’s degree program. I’m so glad I took that opportunity (to move to Colorado),” she said. “Going out of your comfort zone puts you in a different mindset where you’re willing to try different things,” she said. “I was in a new environment with what seemed like unlimited space and resources so I just did it.”
