PBS LearningMedia Digital Innovators Summit Tentative Agenda

The 2015 PBS LearningMedia Digital Innovators Summit will take place before the 2015 ISTE Conference on June 26th and 27th in Philadelphia, PA. PBS Digital Innovators attending the Digital Summit will receive a one-day pass to the ISTE Conference. Check out the tentative line- up of events and speakers below.

Day 1: Friday, June 26th

1:30 – 2:30pm Pedagogy + Technology + Content = Success PBS LearningMedia’s standards aligned, contextualized content fills a crucial gap in the education success equation. During this session you will learn how PBS LearningMedia provides inquiry-driven and experiential learning opportunities for PreK-12 students. Teachers will share how they are using PBS LearningMedia to engage learners, support their curriculum, and bridge the content gap. 2:30 – 4:00pm Deep Dive into PBS LearningMedia’s Content PBS LearningMedia content experts will lead a deep dive into PBS LearningMedia’s videos, interactives, and digital resources. Guided by blended learning strategies, you will discover the content you find most effective in supporting student engagement, classroom conversations, creative projects, and 21st century skills. 4:00 – 5:30pm Integrating Digital Media with Project Based Learning Project Based Learning (PBL) is an effective teaching approach that transforms students from consumers to creators. Engaging digital content can support PBL activities in your classroom while helping students understand that information is not static, like in a textbook, but expands and shifts over time. This workshop will explore the ways digital media can be integrated into PBL to provide authentic learning experiences and strengthen the skills students will need to succeed in college, careers, and civic life.

9:00 – 10:30am Tech Tools You Can Use Tomorrow Tech Guru, Leslie Fisher, will demonstrate how to successfully integrate a range of apps, tools and gadgets into your classroom. You will explore top applications, practical tips, and solutions for overcoming barriers along the way. Once you have hands-on experience with these tools, you will learn strategies for leveraging these tools with PBS LearningMedia. Speaker: n Leslie Fisher, Technology Integration Guru

10:30 – 12:00pm Harness the Power of Games in Your Classroom Games and the principles that underlie them play vital roles in engaging 21st century audiences, as well as in building critical skills like systems thinking, creative problem solving, collaboration, empathy and innovation. During this session of playing, making and designing, you will learn about a number of simple and flexible frameworks and resources to implement game-based learning across subject matters and grade levels. You will work in small groups to apply your new skills and knowledge to a PBS LearningMedia professional development presentation for your colleagues back home.
