Slide 1 Status Report: Introduction

The Status report captures the status of sanitation sector and sanitation related sectors in the city.

• It shows the requirements for an appropriate sanitation system in the ULB both from technical and user perspective.

• It provides the basis for developing software (management aspect) or hardware (infrastructure related) interventions.

• Status report preparation is designed to be strongly participatory and therefore guarantees the acceptance and support from all stakeholders before initiating any planning

• The majority of Status Reports were submitted timely to UDD for review • The nodal officers at cluster level have managed to obtain data from various departments • The Status Reports show that the participants have understood the template and training inputs • All cities have achieved a base document, on which the CSP can be built on

Slide 6 Highlights from Status Reports (Region-wise) Region 2 Rishikesh(Rishikesh, Munni ki Reti, Swarg ) Tehri Uttarkashi (Uttarkashi, Chinyalisaur) Mussoorie • STRENGTHS • The template was followed properly in Tehri • Explanation of processes beyond tables in Mussorie and Munni ki Reti • Information on on-going infrastructure projects in Mussoorie • Very detailed information on water supply in Mussoorie • WEAKNESSES • Lack of information beyond quantitative tables in Tehri • Not all sections were completed in the report of Rishikesh

Region 3 Pauri Garhwal (Pauri, Kirtinagar, Srinagar, Devprayag) Rudraprayag (Rudraprayag, Agastmuni)

• STRENGTHS • Quantitative data on Solid Waste Management and Wastewater in Agastmuni • Information on municipal finance in Srinagar • Completeness and overall structure of Kirtinagar report • WEAKNESSES • Compilation of status reports in Pauri Garhwal Cluster will be a challenge • Information on CSTF missing in most reports

Slide 8 Highlights from Status Reports (Region-wise) Region 4 Almora Ramnagar Bageshwar

• STRENGTHS • Section on city profile of Bageshwar • Overall structure and completeness of sections of Almora • WEAKNESSES • Chapter on capacity enhancement and health and hygiene is completely missing in Bageshwar • Qualitative information in the chapters is missing for Ramnagar

Region 5 Pithoragarh Champawat

• STRENGTHS • The reports are prepared as per template & includes all chapters • The chapter on city profile provides basic information

• WEAKNESSES • No maps, photographs & information on ongoing & proposed projects • Most of the tables are incomplete which will make analysis difficult

Slide 10 Areas for strengthening 1. Base maps have not been provided by majority of ULBs 2. Tabular data is mostly provided but no detailed description of processes 3. Details of the proceedings with the CSTF (Minutes of Meetings, Photographs, etc.) are missing. No ULB has included Minutes of Meeting 4. Information provided to UDD under Swachh Bharat Mission on Open Defecation and coverage of toilets not provided by any ULB 5. No ULB has provided information on existing bye-laws, rules and regulations for sanitation sector 6.
