X-FILES: SEASON 11 VOLUME 1 FREE DOWNLOAD Matthew Dow Smith,Joe Harris | 120 pages | 22 Mar 2016 | Idea & Design Works | 9781631405273 | English | San Diego, United States X-Files: Season 11, Volume 1 Dec 31, Nicola Mansfield rated it it was amazing. Kind of like the show actually. I rather see the tv-series and wait for the new season. The only good X-Files: Season 11 Volume 1 about this is the story line with Gibson what that could lead to. And with The X-Files celebrating its twentieth anniversary this fall, the time is ripe for special agents Mulder and Scully to return. The characters are the same, Mulder and Scully, and are true to what the reader expects from our favorite X-files heroes. Sadly, I found it to be one of the least-objectionable parts of this graphic novel. And as these stories have been advertised as canon, it's going to be interesting to see how much of the mythology appears in next month's TV series. That being said, it was easy enough to jump in that I was able to enjoy this volume. That really thrilled me. He and Price want Mulder to kill the Cigarette Smoking Man in order to save humanity from extermination. The BEST thing about the X-files is the conspiracy theories and the aliens which is why, in my opinion, the seco The X-files is a cult classic and was and still is one of the most iconic television shows ever broadcast. While reading this graphic novel, I had to allow mysel The X-Files: Season 10, Volume 1 which features a five-part story titled Believers is an extension of The X-Files that takes place after the ninth season of the television series and most likely after the I Want to Believe film, since it was published long after that film was released in Great joy also as so many familiar faces return to the pages and people who were supposedly This is absolutely fantastic! I think if I want to continue living in denial and actually enjoying the series, I'll need to avoid these comics.

  • Jung, the Shadow, and the X-Files
JUNG, THE SHADOW, AND THE X-FILES By JENIFER JENSEN A capstone submitted to the Graduate School-Camden Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey In partial fulfillment of the requirements For the degree of Master of Arts Graduate Program in Liberal Studies Written under the direction of Greg Salyer And approved by ______________________________ Greg Salyer Camden, New Jersey May 2019 CAPSTONE ABSTRACT Jung, The Shadow, and The X-Files by Jenifer Jensen Capstone Director: Greg Salyer This capstone explores Jung’s theory of the shadow, personal unconscious, and collective unconscious, using The X-Files as its narrative transport. When television show The X- Files premiered on September 10, 1993, no one anticipated its impact on a generation of television viewers. The X-Files is an American pop cultural mainstay. The paradoxical brilliance of the show is that it both influenced and interpreted popular American culture. Something vital about our time in history speaks through the stories it tells. It is not the only science fiction television show to create legions of fans, spawn movies, books, comics, and general obsession in American geekdom. But it is the only television show which began in 1993, ran for almost a decade, and then returned, fourteen years later with episodes seeking transcendent answers about what it means to be human, and the possibility of knowledge, truth, and power in the era of Trump, fake news and social media. ii 1 Jung, the Shadow, and The X-Files Introduction – The X-Files I am interested in exploring Jung’s theory of the shadow, personal unconscious, and collective unconscious, using The X-Files as its narrative transport.

  • Haunted Media, Globalization and Televisual Horror
Theory and Practice in English Studies Volume 9, No. 1–2, 2020 E-ISSN: 1805-0859 “THERE'S A DEMON IN THE INTERNET”: HAUNTED MEDIA, GLOBALIZATION AND TELEVISUAL HORROR Klára Feikusová Abstract This paper is focused on the portrayal of media, more precisely television and new media, in television horror shows in the context of globalization and the implica- tions of this portrayal. The media and their technologies have always been de- monized in one way or another. Every new invention, every new means of com- munication is viewed with a mix of awe and suspicion. New technology and new media become objects of phobia. Once a new medium is introduced, it usually takes the position of a phobic object, relieving the old one from this burden. How- ever, a certain level of anxiety remains with the old medium. No genre shows this quite as well as horror. In the horror genre, the media and their physical forms are often shown either as a threat itself or bringer of thereof. The internet and social media are just as monstrous. But how are these monsters, material or not, por- trayed in the media itself? In this paper I will analyze how television horror shows mediate the anxiety about threats linked to new media, social media, and television itself. In the first half of the paper, I focus on haunted media as a travelling concept in the television landscape. In the second half, I use the TV show Evil (2019-) as a case study, ana- lyzing how it portrays new media as an ultimate threat in the era of globalization.

  • The X-Files Meets the Skeptics
The X-Files Meets the Skeptics When Chris Carter, creator of the popular Fox TV drama The X-Files, spoke at the CSICOP Twentieth Anniversary Conference, the result wasn't quite what anyone expected. Chris Carter, creator and executive producer of ' T h e X-Files, was the invited luncheon banquet speaker for the first day of the World Skeptics Congress and CSICOP Twentieth Anniversary Conference in Amherst, New York. The banquet, in the atrium of the State University of New York at Buffalo Center for the Arts, was packed. Tables were jammed together. Other people listened from second floor walkways or while standing against the walls. We present here essentially the transcript, only slightly edited for brevity, of that fascinating event, which consisted of informal introductory remarks by Carter followed by an extensive question- and-answer session. Not all of the audiences questions were recorded but Carter summarized many of them before answering. Carter was introduced by reporter Eugene Emery of the Providence Journal-Bulletin, who, even though he had written several somewhat critical pieces about The X-Files, enthusiasti- cally supported that Carter be invited to speak and served as his host. We begin with Emery's remarks. —Kendrick Frazier, Editor 2 4 January/February 1997 SKEPTICAL INQUIRER 'm Gene Emery, science writer, computer columnist, and the promoters of the supernatural with whom we're all Ioccasional contributor of Media Watch columns for the familiar. • From the Dukes of Hazzard to the X-Files: How Is Government Authority
From the Dukes of Hazzard to the X-Files: How Is Government Authority Portrayed on Television?1 Julie L. Peterson, University of Northern Iowa Geoff Peterson, University of Iowa Critics of the mass media spend significant time attacking it for what the critics consider to be frequently inaccurate portrayals of African-Americans, Asians, Hispanics, women, big business, and almost every other identifiable group. Yet one “group” that is oft-maligned yet undefended is government. In particular, we see a growth in the number of television programs, books, and motion pictures that provide inaccurate and often hyper-critical portrayals of government and government authority. This paper is part of a larger study examining the portrayal of government authority figures in mass media. The study examines both television and motion picture presentations of government authority figures over the past thirty years. The presentation of government authority can be divided into five distinct categories that form the structural underpinnings of the project. 1 We would like to thank all of the people who helped make this research possible. In particular, the unflagging help of DAZ (you know who you are) in providing us with copies of the episodes. Many thanks go to Rhonda Hicks for her insight and allowing us to use her episode summaries for the appendix. In addition we would like to thank the many X-Philes on the Internet who provided us with valuable insight into the show. Deemit, Weeble, Mailer, Whit, and all of the others at XPA and OE, we salute you. The first category is the portrayal of government authority as a force for good.

THE “SCULLY”SCULLY EFFECT”:EFFECT“: I WANT TO BELIEVE…IN STEM 21st Century Fox, The Geena Davis Institute on Gender in Media, and J. Walter Thompson Intelligence If she can see it, she can be it.™ 1 Introduction In the late 1990s, one name was synonymous with a medical doctor-turned-paranormal detective: Dana Scully. Played by actor Gillian Anderson, Dr. Dana Scully made her mark on millions of fans who tuned in every week to watch The X-Files, a hit science-fiction drama that aired on FOX for nine seasons from 1993 to 2002, before returning to TV in 2016. Scully was one of the first multidimensional female characters in a science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) field to be featured on a popular television show, and the first to play a leading role. She is known for her objectivity, skepticism, confidence, and brilliance. In the world of entertainment media, where scientists are often portrayed as white men wearing white coats and working alone in labs, Scully stood out in the 1990s as the only female STEM character in a prominent, prime time television role. This report presents the findings of the first systematic study of the influence of Dana Scully on girls and women pertaining to STEM – the “Scully Effect.” The primary questions of this research are whether Scully’s character improved women’s perceptions of STEM fields, whether she inspired girls and women to go into a STEM profession, and whether female viewers see Scully as a role model. This study was conducted by 21st Century Fox, the Geena Davis Institute on Gender in Media, and J.
