Boys Brigade started back last September and we are happy to re- port that we have 22 boys enrolled with Edenderry 1st Company this session. From the word go the BB meetings have been actioned packed and great fun. In October the Junior/Company section at- tended their annual Roll and Bowl event in Portlaoise. Strategies were made amongst the boys to ensure that Edenderry got the highest score in the Laser Quest game and the boys competed against each other to see who is the Bowling King. This year the Anchor section had their own fun to look forward to as we organised a trip to Tons of Fun for them. They all enjoyed the afternoon tremendously. For Christmas we joined forces with GFS again and we decided to arrange a visit to Tons of Fun for the boys and girls. They all really enjoyed their time there and they were all very lucky to receive a little gift that Santa had left for them with the leaders. Ten of the 1st Edenderry Junior/Company members represented us at the 5-a-side Football blitz in . A big thank you goes out to 1st / for hosting this event. Congratulations to the Company team; Ben Mon- tayne, Ultan Gill, Jake Bell, Peter Gardiner and Lukas Gerber for making it to the semi-finals. Well done to the Junior team for showing great sportsmanship in all their matches. Some of the Anchor boys attended the An- nual Anchor Craft event. Again a big thank you to 1st Geashill/Killeigh for hosting this event. Well done to all the boys participating and a very big congratulations to Jake Montanye for taking 3rd place in the Senior In- fants/1st Class group. Boys Brigade Ireland is hosting the annual Juniors weekend away for boys from 3rd class up. This year the event will take place at Wilson’s Hospital School in Multyfarnham on 24/25 March 2018. Thank you to Lyn who will be accompanying the boys on this overnight trip. Boys Brigade is nearly at the end for this session and we are very sad to report that we only have 3 more meetings left. The dates for the meetings are: 22 March and 12/26 April 2018. We look forward to seeing all the boys and to see what fun activ- ities the leaders will come up with. I would like to thank the dedicated leaders Lynn Montayne, Sandra Burke, Mandy Finnegan and Clive Gardiner for all the hard work that they put in at each meeting. Without them BB will not be possible. A big thank to all the boys that attend as well as all the parents that makes sure the boys arrive on time for meetings!! We wish you all a very Happy Easter. BB Greetings, Michelle Gerber

Monasteroris National School Lots of exciting activities are keeping us busy at Monasteroris National School and Easter is just around the corner! The Credit Union School Savers Scheme is still very popular with the children as they bring in their money each week and are delighted to see their savings grow. We continue our Music Generation Programme with Ms Catherine Finerty— 5th & 6th classes are learning to play the guitar, 2nd, 3rd and 4th classes are learning the recorder and the Junior Room are learning their percussion skills. Great music can be heard coming from the rooms. Lenrec recycling will call to the school after the Easter holidays to collect old unwanted clothes, shoes, bags and household textiles. Bags may be left into the school outside the old prefab at any time. All monies raised will go towards school funds. We congratulate Ms Denise Talbot and John on the safe arrival of baby Jacob a beautiful baby brother for Ely. We hope they do not have too many sleepless nights!!! We welcome Ms Caitilin Carty as the Junior room teacher while Ms Talbot is on her maternity leave. Health Promoting Schools Flag: Our Healthy Lunches are going really well and we are well on the way towards getting our Health Promoting Schools Flag. Well done everyone! The senior room continue their Tag Rugby with a coach from Rugby. The weather has not always been on our side but great fun is had by all the boys and girls. The Copper Mile is hopefully gaining mileage so keep collecting those 5c coins. Bags or jars of 5c coins can be dropped into school at any time so hopefully we can reach our 1 mile target by Sport’s Day.
