Wednesday, October 1, 2014 www.lakecityreporter.com 4A OUR OPINION Williams goes out a winner ew York has nothing on us. Yankees fans have been cheering Nthemselves hoarse over the exploits of Derek Jeter, who finally hung up his cleats after a stellar career. COURTESY LCPD: 84 pounds collected during Drug Take-Back day On Saturday the Lake City Police Department participated in the Drug Enforcement Administration’s 2014 Drug Take-Back Event. This gave the public the opportunity to properly dispose of medications that were expired, illegal, unused, and unwanted, thus preventing pill abuse and theft by ridding their homes of potentially dangerous prescriptions. Three 3 ½ feet tall collection boxes were filled with 84 pounds of drugs and were turned over to the DEA Tuesday afternoon, LCPD said in a news release. ‘This is a positive step towards the prevention of prescription drug abuse, as well as accidental poisoning and overdoses,’ the release said. 8A WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 1, 2014 HEALTH LAKE CITY REPORTER Page Editor: Emily Lawson, 754-0424
