If I were asked under what sky the human mind has most fully developed some of its choicest gifts, has most deeply pondered on greatest problems of life, and has found solutions of some of them which well deserve the attention of those who have studied Plato and Kant, -I should point to India. And if I were to ask myself from what literature we, here in Europe, who have been nurtured almost exclusively on the thoughts of Greeks and Romans, and of one semitic race, may draw that corrective which is most wanted in order to make our inner life more perfect, more comprehensive, more universal, in fact more truly human, a life, not for this life only, but a transfigured and eternal life, again - I should point to India. F. Max Muller India, What Can It Teach US Cambridge University Lectures, 1882 * * * * * 2. With a free and open mind I listen attentively to the Indian doctrine of rebirth and look around in the world of my own experience to see whether somewhere and somehow there is some authentic sign pointing towardsReincarnation. C. G. Jung * * * * * 3. Most of the human unhappiness in this world of Dark uncertainties is due to the profound ignorance of the fact about the mind and its power. * * * * * 4. If the blind leads the blind both shall fall into the ditch. * * * * * 5. Some day people will learn that material things do not bring happiness and are of little use in making men and women creative and powerful. When this day comes the world will see more advancement in one generation than it has seen in the last four. * * * * * 6. Spiritual power can change the world and the greatest discovery will be along spiritual lines. ‘If there is not a drastic change in our thoughts and practices our race may die not of natural catastrophe or dread disease, but of so called civilisation which is a compound of human cupidity and scientific genius’ * * * * * Reincarnation Research Centre Page 3 Research on Reincarnation and Survival of Soul 7. The greatest and noblest pleasure which man can have in this world is to discover new truths and the next is to shake off old prejudices. * * * * * 8. Even though our heart does not bleed and our eyes do not cry, yet our deeds are for those whose heart bleeds and whose eyes cry. * * * * * 9. When you see wrong try to right it; when you see suffering try to heal it; when you see war try to stop it. * * * * * 10. As long as men are free to think what they are, free to say what they think and free to think what they will, freedom can never be lost; science can never regress. * * * * * 11. He who knows not and knows not he knows not he is a fool - shun him. He who knows not and knows he knows not he is simple—teach him. He who knows and knows not he knows he is asleep—wake him. He who knows and knows he knows he is wise—follow him. * * * * * 12. Happiness is the only good, reason the only torch, justice the only worship, love the only priest and humanity the only religion. * * * * * -------------------------------------------------- Now the torch of learningis burning brightest in the night of human darkness. He cried so hard it caused him to wheeze and cough. These behaviors are most apparent in early childhood, up to about the age of five, when the memories of past lives are the strongest. • Reincarnation As a Scientific Concept
Reincarnation as a Scientific Concept focuses on the question of whether reincarnation should be recognized as a serious subject by the contemporary scientific community. After a historical overview of the psychical research into reincarnation memories, the authors present well-documented cases that have been studied by scholars from East and West. The authors place themselves in the tradition of American psychiatrists Ian Stevenson and Jim Tucker and their Indian predecessors, as well as colleagues such as the late Dr. Erlendur Haraldsson, Dr. Satwant Pasricha and anthropologist James Matlock. Dr. Rawat has independently studied many children with memories of a past life in Asia, including classic cases in India such as Shanti Devi, Jagdish Chandra and Swarn Lata Mishra. Rivas has investigated cases in the Netherlands that show the same basic pattern, even though most of them remain unsolved. The authors address alternative psychological and parapsychological hypotheses for the findings in the field and demonstrate why reincarnation of a personal psyche offers the best explanation. Based on this assumption, they look at the possible future of parapsychological reincarnation research. About the author Dr. Kirti Swaroop Rawat was born in 1936 in Beawar, Rajasthan, India. He is currently residing at Goyal Nagar, Indore, Madhya Pradesh. He is married to Mrs. Vidya Rawat and has one daughter, Mrs. Bharti Khandelwal, and two sons, Dr. Bharat Rawat and Jai Rawat. Dr. Rawat holds master degrees in Philosophy and Psychology from Rajasthan University in Jaipur. He was awarded a Doctorate in Philosophy at the same University with a dissertation about reincarnation, and conducted his own research into cases of memories of past lives in India,Nepal, and the Netherlands.

Satwant Pasricha is a psychologist in India who began working with Ian Stevenson in 1974 on cases of children who report memories of previous lives. After training under Stevenson, she became his collaborator and then an inde- pendent researcher. She also had successes in clinical psychology. In 2009, she completed a long tenure as Professor of Clinical Psychology at the National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS) in Bangalore, and her book notes that she is the only person in India with training in both clinical psychology and parapsychology. Parapsychology is the focus here, as the title would suggest. This two- volume set is divided into 22 chapters, each consisting of a previously pub- lished article, with Pasricha being sole author or lead author of 17 of them.

  • Erlendur Haraldsson and James G. Matlock. Hove: White Crow Books, 2016
Book Reviews I SAW A LIGHT AND I CAME HERE: CHILDREN’S EXPERIENCES OF REINCARNatION by Erlendur Haraldsson and James G. Matlock. Hove: White Crow Books, 2016. This highly informative book by two eminent reincarnation researchers comes in the form of 32 short chapters, presented in two parts written separately by each author. The first part, by Erlendur Haraldsson, concentrates primarily on investigations of children reporting memories of a past life, while in the second part James Matlock, an anthropologist by training, provides a broader context for this phenomenon. The first part includes mainly accounts of Haraldsson’s own investigations of numerous cases in Sri Lanka, Lebanon, India and Iceland. However, this is not simply a review of the existing database of cases; there are historical cases as well as some new and ongoing ones, and both authors refer to the work of other researchers, including Ian Stevenson, Antonia Mills, Jim Tucker and Hernani Andrade. The selection with which we are presented is thus aimed at providing us with a comprehensive insight into the current state of the field and the direction in which the research seems to point. In much of the literature on the subject we hear only about the most impressive cases of past-life memories fitting a previous personality (solved cases), but this is hardly a balanced view, as this volume clearly demonstrates. Striking cases can be found — like the solved case of a Druze boy in Lebanon — so full of remarkable instances of behaviours, recognition of family members, and memories of unusual details (like having his car batteries charged twice by Israeli soldiers when driving from Beirut) that it seemed “too good to be true” (p.

  • Children's Past Life Memories and Healing
View metadata, citation and similar papers at core.ac.uk brought to you by CORE provided by Subtle Energies & Energy Medicine Journal Archives (E-Journal) Community Address CHILDREN’S PAST LIFE MEMORIES AND HEALING by Carol Bowman ABSTRACT Young children all over the world have spontaneous memories of previous lives, regardless of the religious beliefs of the parents. It’s a natural phenomenon. Children usually begin speaking of “when they were big before” or “when they died” around the age of three, and may speak of their memories for a period of a few years. Many of the memories children recall are of traumatic deaths, which may continue to affect a child in their present life as phobias and other emotional problems. By combining what I’ve learned from collecting my own cases of children’s past life memories for more than twenty years, and from the large body of research of spontaneous past life memories from Dr. Ian Stevenson, with the healing model of past life therapy with adults, I derive a method of healing traumatic past life memories as they emerge spontaneously in early childhood. By studying the cases of children who speak with conviction of their other lives, we also observe that many aspects of the child’s present personality have carried forward intact from the past life: behaviors, emotions, phobias, talents, knowledge, the quality of relationships, and even physical symptoms. The fact that these personality traits carry forward suggests a new way of looking at personality formation and a theory of personality that spans lifetimes. The children’s cases also add an important piece to the metaphysical discussion of the survival of consciousness after death, because it is clear from the cases that some form of personal consciousness continues from one life to another.
