Over the course of his Pistol Shoot July 21 service he had to do many things that he was uneasy about later in life. In many talks with him, he finally came to understand that he was forgiven the moment he asked to be cleansed. Being a warrior is not inherently evil. We lay our own lives on the line so that those we love are safe Support the Detachment! and protected at home. The nightmares we see and the Sign up for the internal scars that we carry are the price we pay. The book of John tells us that “Greater love hath no man than Mideast Division Conference this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.” We can all be absolved of our sins and cleansed of their mark if we truly believe in our hearts and are repentant for them. The only thing left for my friend to do was to forgive him- self. That is the hardest part for any of us to do. It is only natural to feel this responsibility to atone for what we have done wrong in our lives. That is what most of us consider as our conscience. We carry around the things we feel remorseful for long after we have been forgiven. It is a heavy weight that drags us down and makes us Hosted by doubt ourselves. We spend so much energy looking for The Department of North Carolina redemption and time dwelling on the things from our past. and the Tar Heel Detachment # 733 In reality, all we had to do was to lay down that heavy burden and put it behind us. I know that is easier said than done however, it is what we must do. I implore you to look deep inside of your own hearts and forgive your- selves for whatever it is that you have been carrying around. If you have sought forgiveness for the trespasses you have committed, then you have been forgiven. My friend I mentioned earlier has gone on to find a great career, a loving wife, and happiness. More importantly he has found a strong relationship with his creator and the redemption that he needed to lay down that heavy burden he was carrying around with him. He is living proof that forgiveness is more than just a word and there is power in granting it as much as there is in receiving it. Let us pray: “Supreme Commandant, we give thanks for your bless- ings of Grace and Forgiveness. We ask that you make us whole again and cleanse each of us of the wrongs we have At the done. We pray that you will assist us in forgiving our- selves as well as those who have trespassed against us.
