LORD OUT FOR THE SPRING WACHMAN TO RETIRE Promising sprinter Lord Of The Sky (Aus) (Danerich {Aus}), FROM TRAINING once considered a contender for the GI Breeders= Cup Turf Sprint later this year, has been ruled out of the remainder of the spring by trainer Robbie Laing after suffering a tendon injury, according to Racing.com. Laing said he initially thought the injury that knocked the 6-year-old out of last Saturday=s G1 Memsie S. to be career-threatening, but said it is not as bad as he first believed. AScans have shown no tears and no holes [in the tendon], there=s a little bit of filling there and a little bit of damage to his annular ligament at the back of his fetlock joint,@ Laing told Racing.com. The nature of training is such that you have plenty of ups and downs but I've been lucky enough to have had many good days and train some top-class horses during that time. Also a big thank you goes to each and every one of my staff members for their unwavering loyalty, dedication and commitment and I wish them all the very best for the future." Wachman took out his license in 1996 at the age of 25 after spending stints with trainers , Michael Hourigan and Jim Bolger in Ireland; Bill Mitchell and Brian Mayfield Smith in ; and Jenny Pitman in England.
