M. "Sudsy" Tschiderer has played a paramount role in the development of student leadership on campus. She served as a founding member of the Student Activities office and she worked in the Division of Student Affairs for nearly twenty-six years. With an avid interest in journalism, she established and contributed to a number of campus publications, including the Crow' s Nest. Donated to the USF St. Petersburg library's Special Collections and Archives in December 1995, the Tschiderer Student Publications Collection includes Sudsy Tschiderer's personal archival copies of the Crow's Nest, Bayboro Raconteur, and affiliated correspondence. Restrictions/Preservation Note The acidic paper often used for pamphlets, newspapers, or newsletters has promoted some physical deterioration of some items in this collection. To prevent further damage to materials in the Tschiderer Student Publications Collection, refrain from placing any additional stress on the paper fibers by folding or creasing newspapers, or by exposing them to light for an extended period of time. Please report any tears or other damage so library staff may take appropriate preservation or conservation measures. While no restrictions limit access to the newspapers, library staff will evaluate photocopying requests on an individual basis to ensure the long-term preservation of this unique collection. Scope and Contents This collection includes original issues of the Crow's Nest and similar publications that document the history of the USF St. Petersburg campus, as well as associated correspondence. Vol.47, No. 3 Ge•eralNotes [277 begins in late July. By early to mid-September it has progressedto replacement of the fifth secondary. At that time all of the wing coverts and tertials will have been replaced, but not the ahfiae. Primaries eight and nine will have par- tially regrown at that time and much but not all of the body molt will be either complete or well under way. The geographical origin of the bird in question is not known, nor is the normal timing of its molt schedule. Therefore, its schedule may or may not coincide with that observed in Adirondack juncos. However, since this bird had none of the usual molt characteristicsthat accompany replacement of the last two secondariesand the alulae, apparently its wing molt had been stopped or suspendedshort of completion. This occurrenceis the first of its kind that I have observedin the handling of 180 Dark-eyed Juncosknown to be adult during the period of October through December in the past 12 years.--Ilom:•T P.
