#TBT: '' from NBC to Yahoo Screen

03.05.2015

This St. Patrick's Day, Community finally makes its sixth season debut on Yahoo Screen.

The site has started to tout the comedy premiere in a big way, with teasers, trailers and key art, but first by comparing how Yahoo plans to promote the show vs. how NBC promoted it:

(Namely, that the cast doesn't really think NBC promoted it.)

So let's look at how NBC did portray the show - from the Dean's classic speeches in season one to a Mad Men-themed spot for season five:

Season 1 Trailer: Really focused on new star Joel McHale, the first season sets up Jeff Winger's (McHale) cynicism against the Dean's endless optimism.

Community Epic Trailer: Community presents: The Hunger Deans! An intense voice over enhances the comedy's hijinks for season four.

Community: Mad Men Edition: Season five edited together all of the more dramatic scenes (mostly brief pieces of conversation) that made the comedy seem like an hour-long drama with enemies, religion and murder mystery running amok.

A Fistful of Paintballs: In perhaps the ultimate example of Community promoting itself in the most dramatic way possible, NBC's paintball episode takes on the look and feel of the wild wild west.

Community - G.I. Joe Opening Title Sequence: And then sometimes NBC went the other way, creating entire main title sequences for a cartoon-themed episode where Jeff Winger fights bad guys as an American Hero.

Yahoo Screen's Sixth Season Trailer: And finally, there's the newest season trailer from Yahoo Screen, entering a new Dean-mension!
