Bus 2014 Year in Review News for supporters of Boston MedFlight www.bostonmedflight.org 30 Years of Excellence From the Chief Executive Officer... It’s difficult to believe that another year has passed. As we enter 2015, we look back at one of the most remarkable years in the history of Boston MedFlight; a year that included not only our busiest transport month, but most importantly included vital clinical equipment and patient care additions to our critical care capabilities. The coming year will mark the 30th anniversary of Boston MedFlight’s founding. It is amazing to consider how we have changed over the past three decades. Not only have the faces changed, but the technological advances we have seen are nothing short of astounding. One factor has remained constant, however, and that is our commitment to outstanding patient care and safety. These have been, and will continue to be our number one priorities for the next 30 years and beyond. Suzanne K. Wedel, MD Chief Executive Officer/Medical Director 2014...Our busiest year ever! Demand for Boston MedFlight’s services continued to grow during our 2014 fiscal year (October 1, 2013 to September 30, 2014). We completed 3,131 transports--the busiest year in the history of our organization. Additionally, August of 2014 was the busiest month in our history with 341 transports over 31 days. A SECOND EC145 ADDED TO FLEET Our second new Eurocopter EC-145 arrived in June Boston MedFlight is excited to announce the addition of a new EC145 helicopter to our advanced fleet. This is the second Airbus EC145 that Metro Aviation has built for us. “We are excited to receive our second Airbus EC145 after its completion from Metro Aviation. This gives us the youngest operating fleet in our region, which provides us with access to the latest and greatest in technology, airframe, and safety enhancements available in the industry,” said Charles Blathras, Chief Operations Manager for Boston MedFlight. The new EC145 replaces the program’s last BK117, which will now serve as a backup aircraft. Boston MedFlight’s fleet also includes an S76, a King Air B200 and several ground vehicles. HAVE YOU SEEN IT? Perhaps you received an email announcing it? 2014 Transports by Vehicle “It” is our completely redesigned website which launched in late August. Boston MedFlight part- nered with Strand Marketing of Newburyport to create the new site featuring a more user Ground Ambulance Rotor Wing friendly platform, easier navigation, new photos, 40% 57% patient stories and more. This $40,000 grant was designated to fund expenses associated with the transition from our previous fixed wing carrier and Cessna Citation II jet aircraft to a Beechcraft King Air B200 turboprop airplane leased through Jet Logistics Inc. The King Air B200 is not only a newer aircraft, it is also more fuel efficient and has more room for the patient and crew. In addition, the King Air B200 improves Boston MedFlight’s ability to deliver critical care transport services to more remote parts of our service area, including rural runways of less than 4,000 feet in length. As with any transition, there were numerous expenses including rebranding the new aircraft, the purchase and installation of equipment needed to ready the vehicle for medical transport use, and many hours of pilot training. We are very grateful to the Martha’s Vineyard Golf Club Foundation for their generosity and their continued support of our mission. Total Expenses FY2014 Where Our Donations Came from in FY2014 Supplies and Depreciation 7% Equipment 4% Facilities 2% Other 4% Salaries and related (including aviation) Vehicles and 58% Maintenance 25% Expanded Ground Service in Southeastern Massachusetts a Success In 2013 Boston MedFlight expanded our critical care ground service in southeastern Massachusetts. This move was in response to what we saw as a distinct need for a stronger presence in the region. Over the past two years our critical care ground transports have increased by 33% and are our largest demand in increasing services. 3 A Thank you to all our supporters... 2014 Premier Supporter Gilbert Verney Foundation Ms. Jayne Carvelli-Sheehan Mr. and Mrs. Steven and Ann Yanez Mr. Roger Boucher Vineyard Golf Club Foundation Ms. Wendy Warring Mr. Gerald Biondi Blue Angels Mr. David Sussman Mr. Kenneth Bartels and Ms. Jane Condon Stephen & Alice Cutler Family Foundation Mr. Stanley Ashley Tupancy-Harris Foundation Ms. Patricia Searle Mr. & Mrs. Scott Whitlock Mr. & Mrs. Rick Sherlund Mr. & Mrs. Fred Schwartz Mr. and Mrs. Donald Visco The Kohlberg Foundation Samuel P.
