Dunlap Among Cajuns Best Behind Arc 2008-09 Ragin’ Cajuns Leaders Senior guard Whitney Dunlap began her final season with the Louisiana women’s basketball team in seventh place all-time in the Cajuns’ record books with 93 three pointers made and sixth all-time Points with 354 three-point field goal attempts. After 12 games this season, Dunlap is up to 112 triples made, Alexis Green 181 Mercedes Johnson 135 passing Charlotte Green (1999-03) for sixth place in Cajuns history. She needs 31 triples to tie Onna D’Mya Clay 98 Charles (2005-08) for fifth place. Dunlap has recorded 55 three-point field goal attempts and is just 27 Whitney Dunlap 86 shots short of tying Charles for fifth all-time. Dunlap currently stands with a career three-point field goal Jasmine Barnes 60 percentage of .274, which ranks 10th in the Cajuns’ Top 10. Scoring Average Alexis Green 13.9 Moving Up the Record Books Mercedes Johnson 11.3 Whitney Dunlap is set to make an impact for the Cajuns from behind the arc this season, but Dunlap D’Mya Clay 7.5 is also poised to break into the Ragin’ Cajuns record books for more than her long distance shots. The Jasmine Barnes 7.5 Baton Rouge native has played in 99 total games in her career just eight shy of tying Ann Harper (1983- Whitney Dunlap 7.2 88), Alyson Habetz (1990-95) and Bernette Tolston (2001-04) for 10th all-time in games played. If Field Goals Dunlap plays in the remainder of the Cajuns’ games of the 2008-09 season, she will end her career tied Alexis Green 65 for third place all-time with Onna Charles (2005-08) with 116 games played. Dunlap has a 163 assists Mercedes Johnson 51 in her career, just 34 shy of tying Teena Cooper (1984-88) for 10th all-time. D’Mya Clay 40 Whitney Dunlap 28 Immediate Impact Jasmine Barnes 27 UL welcomed nine new players to the 2008-09 roster and a pair of newcomers have made an immediate Three-Point Field Goals impact for the Ragin’ Cajuns – Alexis Green and Mercedes Johnson. Heading into the week, the duo Whitney Dunlap 19 rank No. 1/No. 2 in points, scoring average, free throw attempts, free throws made and steals. The tandem Alexis Green 16 also rank in the Top 5 in field goals attempts, field goals made, field goal percentage, three pointers Nicole Morris 8 attempted, three pointers made, three point field goal percentage, free throw percentage, rebounds, D’Mya Clay 5 Michelle Brunker 3 offensive rebounds, defensive rebounds, rebounding average, assists, blocked shots and minutes.

Free Throw Percentage Green Named All-Tournament Whitney Dunlap 11-13 (.846) Alexis Green has been a fundamental element for the Ragin’ Cajuns women’s basketball team. Her D’Mya Clay 13-18 (.722) efforts were rewarded as she was named to the 2008 Blazer Invitational All-Tournament Team. Green Mercedes Johnson 32-48 (.667) Alexis Green 35-61 (.574) helped the Cajuns to a 1-1 finish in the tournament. In the Cajuns’ victory against Alabama State, she netted nine points to go along with a season-best 15 rebounds. Green scored the final five points of Rebounds the game to finish the come from behind victory and secure a 51-49 win. For the tournament, Green Alexis Green 75 finished with 21 points (10.5 ppg), 21 rebounds (10.5 rpg), four assists and four steals en route to All- D’Mya Clay 64 Tournament Team honors. Assists Besting the Boot D’Mya Clay 21 The Cajuns finished the 2007-08 season with a 5-4 record against teams from the state of Louisiana. In Alexis Green 20 Whitney Dunlap 16 fact, UL has not had a losing record against state schools since the 2002-03 season. The Ragin’ Cajuns Mercedes Johnson 10 recorded two victories over New Orleans and also had wins against LSU-Shreveport, Centenary and Becky Hall 10 Nicholls State. UL is slated for eight games against schools from the Pelican State in 2008-09, with an Nicole Morris 10 exhibition game against LSU-Shreveport. The Cajuns dropped their first three games in 2008-09 against the Pelican State. The Cajuns fell 75-69 in overtime against Centenary; lost 80-65 on the road at Tulane; Steals D’Mya Clay 13 and dropped a 56-46 decision to McNeese State. UL rebounded with an impressive 71-57 win on the Alexis Green 11 road at Nicholls State. The Cajuns dropped a game against ULM, 81-70, to fall to 1-4 against the state Mercedes Johnson 10 this season. A total of 16 teams -- eight men and eight women -- will qualify to travel to Hot Springs, Arkansas. Teams will gather at Summit Arena to vie for not only the conference tournament crown, but for the league’s automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament 32 as well.
