Tom Strong-ishBy Jon MPeter Hogan had some good ideas, like exploring problems that superheroes cannot punch, but also problems that only science heroes can address, such as those that require research and study, or tactful negotiation. However, the dialogue tried to emulate but sort of lacked the charm in the original Alan Moore series. It was interesting seeing the characters from Terra Obscura appear, but when they made the sort of meta comic reference, it came off as more of like DC ad placement for the other Tom Strong books. I love this character, but this convinced me to just go back and read the Alan Moore stuff. Chris Sprouse's art was pretty good, but there were some weirdly similar faces that ended up being confusing, and one set of pages in particular had a similar green color going across the pages that made it look like it was supposed to be a splash page when it actually wasn't. At last, it's the return of Tom Strong--too bad he's powerless! The lives of his daughter Tesla and her unborn child both hang in the balance, and there's nothing Tom can do to save them...until he remembers the one thing that just might. To find it, he and Val Var Garm must journey to the far side of the galaxy, and the mysterious world known as...TERRA OBSCURA!
