SPORTS X-TREME 1 VOL. 4 N0. 2! NOVEMBER 18, 2011 Five NFL Running Backs Stand Out by Jelani Machen, 5JB There are so many great running backs in the NFL’s 2011-2012 season, but there are five that really stand out! LeSean McCoy of ; , Chicago; Fred Jackson, Buffalo; , Minnesota, and of San Francisco. Frank Gore is number 5 with 782 rushing yards. He averages 4.8 yards per carry and has had games with 200 rushing yards, but he also has had games with 70 rushing yards. Peterson has only fumbled the ball one time. He is tied with LeSean McCoy for rushing with nine and has 125 receiving yards. Fred Jackson is the number 3 with 803 rushing yards. He averages 5.4 yards per carry and is 2nd among the running backs with a devastating 391 receiving yards on the season. Like Adrian Peterson, Jackson has only fumbled the ball one time this season. Two weeks ago against the Redskins, he busted an 80 yard run, his longest run of the season. Matt Forte comes in at 2nd place with 805 rushing yards on the season. Matt Forte averages 5.4 rushing yards per carry and leads the Eagles Running Back running backs in receiving yards with an LeSean McCoy outstanding 436 receiving yards. He has only fumbled two times and both fumbles were in one game against the . He is playing great for a 3rd round pick. And now, the moment you’ve all been waiting for, the number 1 running back is….. LeSean McCoy! With 825 rushing yards, he averages 5.5 rushing yards per carry and is tied with Adrian Peterson for the most touchdowns this season. McCoy has 184 receiving yards and zero fumbles, which is why he has had 6 straight games with 20 or more carries. Many news reporters say he is the running back that is most fun to watch. McCoy is quick, Bears Running Back powerful, daring and intelligent, making him the NFL’s top running Matt Forte back. Keep watching! Anyone can rise or fall, so watch out for the NFL’s best running backs.

SPORTS X-TREME 2 VOL. 4 N0. 2! NOVEMBER 18, 2011 NFL Update NFC Standings Cont’d from p. 1 EAST W L The wild cards are the next best teams that aren’t winning their division. The Lions right now would take the 5 seed even Giants 6 3 though they have the 4th best record in the NFC. This is so Cowboys 5 4 because the Packers are in their division and have a better record. Eagles 3 6 The 6th and final seed would belong to the Bears who have come Redskins 3 6 out of hibernation. After starting the season at 2-3, they haven’t lost since. They are now 6-3 and hungry for more. However the NORTH W L Lions win the tiebreaker over them because they have won more divisional games. But, the Bears pulverized the Lions in week 10 Packers 9 0 and this reporter thinks the bears can defiantly pull past the Lions Lions 6 3 if they keep playing the way they are. Bears 6 3 In the AFC, the 1 seed is taken by the Texans and the two Vikings 2 7 slot is filled by the Steelers. The Texans have been surprising because they are playing well despite being without star wide SOUTH W L receiver . The standings are very surprising Saints 7 3 because everyone expected the Patriots to be in first. The Steelers had a shaky start and have lost to the Ravens twice but Falcons 5 4 have still played well and have beaten the Patriots which is why Buccaneers 4 5 they are on top. Panthers 2 7 The 3 seed would currently be taken by the Patriots who are hanging on tight to first place in the East. They do win the WEST W L tiebreaker against the Jets but they would lose the tiebreaker 49ers 8 1 against the Bills. The Bills and Jets each have one more meeting with the Patriots so those will definitely come into play later. The Seahawks 3 6 4 seed would right now be taken by the Raiders in the Wild, Wild Cardinals 3 6 West. The Raiders took over first place after a big win on Rams 2 7 Thursday night. The Raiders success has been unexpected * Standings updated as of Week 10 because they lost their main for the year but their new one has taken over strongly. However, the Chargers, Chiefs, and Broncos are all within a game of first. This is why people wonder how the West will be won. The wildcards right now would both come from the North. The Ravens would take the 5 spot and the Bengals the 6 seed. The Bengals recent success is being powered by rookies with quarterback and A.J. Green. They also win the tiebreaker against the Ravens based on their head to head matchups. It is very surprising that they are on top because they are in the same division as the Steelers and Ravens. However, the wild card leaders could change any week. The Bills and Jets are right behind them and hasn’t had a bye week yet so they have played more games. There are also many 4-5 teams right behind everyone that is 5-4. This reporter thinks it will be very interesting to see who comes out on top and who doesn’t quite make the cut. So, let the best team win. SPORTS X-TREME 3 VOL. 4 N0. 2! NOVEMBER 18, 2011

Aaron Rodgers’ third starting season for the is off to a roaring start. He has led his team to a 9-0 record. He is arguably the best quarterback in football. Last season the Packers made the wild card in the minute against the Bears in the final regular season game, which they won. They beat the , and the , which got them to the against the Pittsburg Steelers. The Packers easily dominated the Steelers in the first half but barely stayed ahead in the second half to win the Super Bowl. They now have a 14- game winning streak counting last season. Going back to college when he was at the University of California, Rodgers had 665 attempts and 424 of those passes were complete. He only had 13 interceptions. One of the reasons he was so good was because of the people he played with in college. After three years he moved on to the next level, the pros where he plays today. Luckily his linemen, including center Scott Wells, can Aaron Rodgers hold the defense so Rodgers can throw passes. Aaron Rodgers’ many achievements make him one of a kind.

NFL Playoff Predictions by Sam Angevine and Gabriel Solomon, 4F We think the Packers and 49ers will be the top two seeds in the NFC and receive byes because the Packers are undefeated and the 49ers only have one loss. In the AFC, we think the Texans and Ravens will get byes because the Ravens have the best record in the AFC North tied with the Bengals, but we think the Ravens will end the season with a better record. The Texans will get a bye because they have the best AFC South record. We think the Packers will win over the Patriots in the Super Bowl because the Packers average more points. These are our predictions: Raiders Saints Jets Saints Jets Ravens Saints Lions Ravens 49ers Patriots Packers Packers Patriots 28 Super Bowl 35 Giants Patriots Champions Giants Bengals Patriots Packers Falcons
