Their tandem of Nick Chubb (115 rushing attempts for 719 yards) and Kareem Hunt (157 for 706) has combined for 1,425 rushing yards. The Titans are in second place in rushing offense at 158.2 yards per contest. Derrick Henry leads the club and the NFL with 1,257 ground yards on 256 attempts. He became the team’s third player this season with at least eight touchdowns, joining running back Derrick Henry (12) and tight end Jonnu Smith (eight). The Titans became the first NFL team in 2020 to have three players reach eight touchdowns, while half of the league (16 teams) has yet to produce an eight-touchdown scorer. Henry, Brown and Smith account for 29 of the Titans’ 40 touchdowns through 11 games. The team total is tied with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ output for the fourth-best number in the league, trailing only the Green Bay Packers (44), Kansas City Chiefs (43) and Seattle Seahawks (42). (12 teams tied) 1 (continued on next page) Getting three different players to eight touchdowns is rare in franchise history, and even more rare in only 11 games. This year marks the first time since 1992 that there has been a trio of players with eight touchdowns each within an entire season, and it has only happened a total of six times. The organization’s only previous campaign in which multiple players had at least eight touchdowns after only 11 games was 1961, when Charlie Hennigan (eight), Bill Groman (16) and Billy Cannon (nine) accomplished the feat. (nine seasons) 2 MOST 42-POINT GAMES IN LAST TWO SEASONS: The Titans scored 45 points last week at Indianapolis, recording their NFL-best third game of the season with at least 42 points. Having already tallied 42 points in games against the Buffalo Bills (Oct. 13) and Houston Texans (Oct. 18), the Titans took the lead over the second-place Green Bay Packers and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who are tied with a pair of 42-point performances. In 2019, the Titans likewise reached 42 points three times—a first for the franchise since the 1962 campaign. The only other time it happened was 1961, when the Oilers had six such games. Most total games in a season with a minimum of 42 points, franchise history: Season 42-Point Games 1. 1961 6 2. 2020 3 Through 11 total games 2019 3 1962 3 The Titans’ total of six games from 2019 to 2020 with 42-plus points ranks first in the NFL. They are followed by the Baltimore Ravens, who have hit the 42-point mark four times, all in 2019. Most total games with a minimum of 42 points from 2019 to 2020: Team 42-Point Games 1. BROWN IN SELECT COMPANY AFTER 25 GAMES: Titans second-year wide receiver A.J. Brown participated in his 25th career game last week at Indianapolis. The former second-round draft pick had 98 yards on four receptions, including a 69-yard score, bringing his career totals to 92 receptions for 1,689 yards and 16 touchdowns. Since 1970, Brown is the seventh NFL player to begin his career with at least 90 catches, 1,600 receiving yards and 16 touchdown receptions in his first 25 games. The most recent pair or receivers to hit those numbers were Allen Robinson and Odell Beckham Jr. in 2015. The others who achieved the statistical feat were A.J. Green, Randy Moss, Charlie Brown and John Jefferson. No player besides Brown can boast of those numbers plus an average of at least 18.0 yards per reception (18.4).
