Hurontario Light Rail Transit
Torys acted as counsel to the lenders to Mobilinx (Astaldi/John Laing), the successful proponent for the Hurontario Light Rail Transit PPP project to design, build, finance, operate and maintain a new integrated light rail transit system between Port Credit GO Station in Mississauga to the Gateway Terminal at Steeles Avenue in Brampton, Ontario.

The project includes:
18-kilometres of new dedicated rapid transit between Port Credit GO Station in Mississauga to the Gateway Terminal at Steeles Avenue in Brampton; 19 surface stops with connections to GO Transit's Milton and Lakeshore West rail lines, Mississauga MiWay, Brampton Transit, and the Mississauga Transitway BRT; and a maintenance and storage facility for the light rail vehicles at Highway 407.
On October 21, 2019, Infrastructure Ontario (IO) and Metrolinx awarded a contract valued at C$4.6 billion to Mobilinx Hurontario General Partnership (Mobilinx) for the Hurontario Light Rail Transit (HuLRT) project. The contract, adjusted for inflation, reflects payments during construction, a substantial completion payment and monthly service payments during the 30-year operations and maintenance period.
Mobilinx anticipates completion of the LRT in the fall of 2024.
