Sandstone Trail

Cheshire’s Sandstone Trail is undoubtedly one of the finest and most popular walks and walking routes, not just in Cheshire but in . For many, it’s probably the best Cheshire walk and the ultimate Cheshire Way. As well as the ever-popular long distance linear route along the Sandstone Trail, there is a wealth of less well-known but equally unmissable circular walks and strolls exploring the surrounding countryside. These varied circular Cheshire walks link naturally to the main trail, and are clearly waymarked and maintained by the Sandstone Trail ranger. Not surprisingly, they are increasingly popular. Some of the circular routes in Cheshire explore favourite areas such as Delamere Forest or the Bickerton Hills in more depth; some visit unexpected places along the way such as the earthen ramparts of Eddisbury hillfort or ancient Hall; some take you to special places such as bluebell-dense Bodnick Wood or the picturesque and unhurried Norman market town of Malpas. 58 West Cheshire Walking Festival 2018
