The subject was located in good condition but arrested by the RCMP under the Mental Health Act. 19 0350 CTL AIR ELT 1 1 PEP AIR member responded to investigate an 171493 ELT sounding in the Kelowna Airfield. The aircraft was located, completely frozen over. The company that owns the plane worked to get it thawed and ELT shut off. 19 11:44 SEA LAND 0 8 8 Revelstoke SAR members with 1 CARDA dog 171494 responded to Revelstoke Mountain Resort to assist with an avalanche, to determine if any persons were trapped. The area was cleared and nobody was trapped. 20 09:22 SEA LAND 1 1 Golden SAR member responded to an RCMP 171495 request to respond to a spot beacon activation at the Kicking Horse Rest Stop, which is a popular ice climbing spot. The SAR was closed immediately as it was opened in error by the RCMP. 17 21:35 CTL LAND 35 35 Kamloops SAR members responded with many 171486 convergent volunteers to search for a missing male UPDATE in the Sun Peaks area near Kamloops. An extensive search was conducted without locating the subject and re-opened on Feb 20 at the request of the RCMP. Further searching found no new clues as to the location of the subject. SAR was consequently stood down on Feb 24. 20 15:51 SWE LAND 1 6 1 5 Whistler and 1 Pemberton SAR member 171496 responded to a request from RCMP to assist a skier in Khyber pass. SAR was stood down when the subject self rescued. 20 16:36 SWE LAND 1 2 1 2 Whistler SAR members responded to rescue an 171497 injured skier in the Fitzsimmons Creek area of Garibaldi Provincial Park. The patient, who was suffering from a separated shoulder, was airlifted out of the area via HETS and transported to a waiting Blackcomb Mountain Ski Patrol toboggan where he was transported down the hill for further care. 20 19:49 NWE LAND 1 3 1 3 Houston SAR members responded to rescue a 171498 60 year old male on Mount Harry Davis near Houston. The SAR team was stood down when the male managed to self rescue. 21 09:14 SEA LAND 1 5 1 5 Kaslo SAR members responded to a subject 171499 snowed-in on the Duncan River FSR in the Kaslo area. SAR located and assessed the subject who refused to leave and was not in distress. 22 16:05 SWE LAND 2 2 Whistler SAR members responded to investigate 171500 a flare sighting by a member of the public in the Fitzsimmons Valley area from the Peak to Peak Gondola. SAR flew the Fitzsimmons Valley (drainage) and no signs/tracks were spotted. 23 16:30 SEA LAND 1 11 1 11 Revelstoke SAR members responded to assist 171501 a snowboarder that was trapped in a creek after going out of bounds in the Mount Revelstoke area. The subject was rescued in good condition by the SAR team. 23 16:56 SEA LAND 1 11 1 11 Kimberley SAR members responded to search 171502 for a lost skier on or near the Tamarack Chair, in the Mark Creek Reservoir area of Kimberley Ski Hill . The subject was rescued OK by SAR. 24 15:43 NEA LAND 1 3 1 3 Mackenzie SAR members responded following 171503 report of an activated SOS beacon near Powder King. SAR stood down after it was determined to be a false activation of the beacon. 23 1835 CTL LAND 1 11 1 11 Salmon Arm SAR members responded to assist 171504 an injured female, in vehicle that went over an embankment, in Salmon Arm. Salmon Arm Road Rescue was able to extricate the subject. 24 16:55 SEA LAND 1 11 1 11 Rossland SAR members responded to a BCAS 171505 request for assistance with an injured skier at Highway 3B Neptune Creek. SAR successfully brought the patient out and passed her over to BCAS. 24 19:22 NEA LAND 1 18 1 18 North Peace SAR members responded to 171506 search for a missing 17 year old female with autism. The subject was located by the RCMP alive and unharmed, SAR was stood down. 24 22:13 SWE LAND 2 13 2 20 Squamish and Whistler SAR members 171507 responded to search for 2 overdue snowmobilers. The subjects were found unharmed the next day. 25 09:30 SWE LAND 1 13 1 13 Squamish SAR members responded to a BCAS 171508 request to transport an injured female from the Elfin Lake area near Squamish. The woman was passed to BCAS that afternoon with a knee injury. 25 13:18 SWE LAND 1 7 1 7 Whistler SAR members responded to assist an 171509 injured snowmobiler in Whistler. The subject was located by SAR and transferred to EHS. 25 13:20 SEA LAND 16 16 Kimberly, Fernie and Columbia Valley SAR 171510 members responded following a spot beacon allegedly sounding south-west of Canal Flats. Upon arrival via helicopter, there was no subject at the location. The spot beacon coordinates for the patient were incorrect and the patient was actually in Banff National Park. He was rescued via a Banff National Parks team and subsequently flown to the hospital. 25 16:42 SEA LAND 1 3 1 3 Revelstoke SAR members responded to search 171511 for an overdue snowmobiler in the Frisbee Ridge area. The subject made it out safely on his own and SAR stood down. 25 19:26 VIR LAND 3 26 3 26 Cowichan Valley SAR members responded to 171512 search for 3 lost hikers in the Maple Mountain Park area. DANGEROUS GOODS

On 24 February 2018, the CFB reported that the HMCS Calgary was transferring fuel while at sea and due to an unknown factor, spilled approximately 30,000 litres of fuel to the marine at a location thought originally to be off of Constance Banks but was later reported to be from Nanoose to the east of Main Island. The incident was raised to Code 2 (urgent status) by the Ministry of Environment Response Officer and is currently under investigation.
