The Bulldogs thrived in the ground game, racking up 309 yards behind 100-yard games from both QB Nick Fitzgerald and RB Kylin Hill, who pounded out 117 and 108 yards, respectively. AUGUST (1-0) Through the air, State amassed 111 yards to total 420 yards of offense in the victory. Hill and RB Aeris Williams each had TD runs 31 at Louisiana (New Orleans) ESPNU W, 38-28 in the contest and WR Deddrick Thomas had a scoring reception. SEPTEMBER (2-2) 7 Southern Miss ESPNU W, 38-15 • Thursday’s game marks the 20th anniversary of “The Kick and the Pick” in 1999 when the Bulldogs earned a dramatic 23-20 14 Kansas State ESPN L, 31-24 victory over Ole Miss on Thanksgiving in Starkville. Trailing 20-6, MSU tied the game thanks to a fourth-quarter rally.     Michel Oher Autobiography By Michael Oher with Don Yaeger There are nearly 500,000 children in America whose lives have been so rough that the state has determined they’re better off being cared for by someone other than their parents. The odds are stacked against those children. Less than half will ever graduate from high school. Of the ones who drop out, almost half of the boys will be imprisoned for violent crimes. Girls in foster care are six times more likely to have children before the age of 21 than are girls in stable families. And of those kids, more than half will end up in foster care themselves. The outlook is pretty bleak for kids like me. I beat the odds. You probably know my name from The Blind Side, which was a popular book and then an even more popular movie. What you probably don’t know – what no one knows – is exactly what happened to me during my years in the foster care system, the years before The Blind Side picked up my story. The things in my life that lead up to it; the way I tried to fight back; the emotions that overwhelmed me and left me confused, scared, and alone; all of the memories that no one was able to bring out of me; everything in my life that came before the happy ending— those are the things I want to discuss in this book. All of that, and a voice for the other half- million children in the foster care system who are silently crying out for help.

Page 4 Page 6 Emily Wikle named 2014-15 Miss Ole Miss after run-off MAGGIE MCDANIEL [email protected] The Associated Student Body announced Emily Wikle as 2014-2015 Miss Ole Miss Monday after last week’s run- off election. “I am the luckiest person in the world,” Wikle said after the results were announced. “I am so happy to be able to serve the university in this ca- pacity and pick a philanthro- py with Rob (Barber).” Wikle said she was very thankful for the overwhelm- ing support she received through the extended cam- paign process. “I am so blessed and life truly is good here at the uni- versity,” she said.
