 A TALE OF TWO HALVES: Philadelphia finished the first half of the season with a Major League- worst 62 losses (29-62, .319), their most before the All-Star break in franchise history … They improved dramatically in the second half, however, going 34-37 (.479) after the break (8th-best record in NL, T-18th in MLB) ... The Phillies averaged just 3.38 runs per game in the first half, dead last in MLB, before averaging over a full higher after the break (4.48), 12th-best among all Major League clubs.

 COMING THROUGH IN A PINCH: The Phillies led the majors in several pinch categories this season: home runs (10), extra-base hits (25), (.446) and (103) … They also finished 2nd in pinch doubles (15) & OPS (.758), T-2nd in RBI (39), 4th in average (.251) and T-4th in hits (58) … Philadelphia’s 10 pinch home runs were their most in a season since 1984 when they also finished with 10.

 ROAD KILL: Philadelphia went 26-55 (.321) away from in 2015, which was the 2nd-lowest road in the majors (ATL, 25-56, .309) and the worst by a Phillies team since 1947 (24-54, .308) … Philadelphia had the highest road ERA (5.09) of any MLB team, the worst road run differential (-128, 416-288), the 2nd-lowest runs per game average (3.56), and the fewest road series wins (5-19-2 in 26 road series; swept 9x) … They did not earn their first road series win until June 22-24 at NYY (2-1) … Philadelphia also had an 0-8 road trip – at CIN (0-3), at PIT (0-3) and at BAL (0-2) -- which was their first winless road trip of eight or more games since their inaugural season in 1883 ... That year, they went 0-9 on a trip against the New York Giants (2 G), Boston Braves (3 G), Providence Grays (3 G), and Giants again (1 G) from August 11-24.

 STARTING OFF ON THE WRONG FOOT: Phillies starting pitchers combined for a 5.23 ERA (519 ER, 892.2 IP) this season, the 2nd-highest of all Major League starting staffs (1st: COL, 5.27) and the worst by Phillies starters since 1930 (6.15) ... They finished last in the majors in starters wins (38), allowed the most hits (1,592), and ranked 29th in opponents AVG (.280), OBP (.341), SLG % (.445), OPS (.786), and HR’s allowed (191) … Philadelphia had 66 quality starts in 2015 (40.7%), the third fewest in MLB ... From May 23 to June 20, Phillies starting pitchers went 25 consecutive games without a win, breaking the franchise record from 1961 (23 straight games) … However, Philadelphia’s starters were able to end the year on a high note … From September 18 through the end of the season, Phillies starting pitchers posted the 3rd-best ERA among all Major League staffs (2.58 ERA, 24 ER, 83.2 IP) with a 1.18 WHIP ... During that period, they allowed 2 ER or fewer in 12 of their 15 starts, including three scoreless starts (Eickhoff 2, Nola 1).

 RAGING BULL: Rookie outfielder Odubel Herrera, selected by Philadelphia in the 2014 from the Texas Rangers organization, led the Phillies in average (.297), runs scored (64) and doubles (30) in 2015 … He became the first Phillies rookie to record 30 doubles in a season since in 1997, and the first player in to bat at least .297 with 30 doubles and 16 stolen bases since in 2001 … Among National League rookies, Herrera ranked 2nd in batting average and doubles, 3rd in hits (147), multi-hit games (34) and total bases (207), 4th in runs, and 7th in on-base percentage (.344) … He was the first Phillies player to lead all Major League rookies in doubles over a full season since in 1984 (36) ... Following the season, Herrera was selected as the Phillies nominee for the 2015 Award by Major League Baseball.

 MAGIC MAIK: In his first full Major League season, rookie made quite the impression, batting .280 with an .840 OPS, 22 doubles, 14 HR and 50 RBI in 80 games with the Phillies … He was an NL Rookie of the Year candidate before being hit by a pitch and suffering a left wrist fracture on August 11 at ARI … He became one of only eight Major League rookies to finish a season with an OPS of .840 or higher since 2010, joining Jose Abreu (.964), Mike Trout (.963), (.925), (.862), Yoenis Cespedes (.861), Jason Heyward (.849) and Wilin Rosario (.843) … Franco was named National League Rookie of the Month for June, making him just the second Phillies player ever to earn the award (other: , September 2005) ... During the month, Franco batted .352 (38-108) with a .391 OBP, .648 SLG %, 8 2B, 8 HR, 24 RBI and 18 runs scored … From June 22-23 at , Franco became the first Phillies player ever and third rookie in Major League history to post back-to-back 5 RBI games.

 THE BIG EASY: Aaron Nola, the Phillies top pitching prospect entering the 2015 season, made his Major League debut on July 21 vs Tampa Bay ... The 22-year-old was selected by the Phillies in the first round (7th overall) of the June 2014 draft, becoming the first player drafted by Philadelphia to make his major league debut the very next season since , who was selected in June 1988 and made his ML debut in September 1989 … In 13 big league starts with Philadelphia, Nola went 6-2 with a 3.59 ERA (31 ER, 77.2 IP) and 3.58 SO/BB ratio (68 SO, 19 BB) … From August 18-28, he had the longest scoreless streak (13.0 IP) by a Phillies rookie since Vance Worley in 2011 (14.0 IP) … Prior to his promotion, he posted a 10-4 record with a 2.39 ERA in 18 starts between -A Reading (7- 3, 1.88 ERA) and -A (3-1, 3.58).

 DON’T HASSLE THE HOFF: Right-hander Jerad Eickhoff, who was acquired in the Cole Hamels trade with Texas in July, was recalled by Philadelphia in late August and posted a 2.65 ERA (15 ER, 51.0 IP) in eight starts for the Phillies … Seven of his eight outings were quality starts … In his Major League debut on August 21 at MIA, Eickhoff became only the second ML player since 1920 to have a scoreless start while knocking in two or more runs (5.0 IP, 0 R, 2 RBI) … He joined Hamels as the only two Phillies rookies since 1964 to record back-to-back double-digit SO games (9/25 & 10/1), and was the first Phillies rookie since 1992 (Ben Rivera) to toss four consecutive quality starts (7.0 IP or more & 2 ER or fewer) … Eickhoff was lights out over his final four starts, going 2-0 with a 0.96 ERA (3 ER, 28.0 IP), 0.86 WHIP (7 BB, 17 H) and 10.61 SO/9.0 IP ratio (33 SO) from September 12 to October 1.

 RARIFIED ALTHERR: In August, rookie began his Major League career with seven straight extra-base hits (4 2B, 3B, 2 HR) … He is the only Phillies player since 1900 to begin his career with seven or more consecutive XBH and the first Major League player to do so since OAK’s Carlos Gonzalez from May 30 to June 7, 2008 (7 2B) … On September 25 at WSH, Altherr hit an inside-the- park , becoming the first Phillie to do so since Ted Kazanski on August 8, 1956 vs NYG, and the first ML player since TB’s on October 3, 1999 vs NYY.

 THE PHUTURE IS BRIGHT: Three of the Phillies minor league affiliates finished in 1st place in their respective divisions in 2015 … Double-A Reading went 80-61 (.567) to win the Eastern League’s Eastern Division … The Fightin Phils advanced all the way to the EL Championship series, where they fell to the Bowie Baysox in the best-of-five series, three games to two … Single-A Clearwater finished in 1st place in both the first and second halves of their season (37-33, 42-25; 79- 58 overall) … The Threshers fell two games to none to the in the best-of-three FSL North Championship series … In short-season A-ball, Williamsport finished with the best record in the New York-Penn League (46-30, .605) … New Manager led the Crosscutters to the Pinckney Division crown before they were defeated by West Virginia in the first round of the playoffs, two games to one … Overall, 34 Phillies farmhands were selected as All-Stars in 2015, while (EL) and (FSL) were both named Manager of the Year in their respective leagues.
