On behalf of Karmashree Hiteswar Saikia College fraternity , I take the proud privilege to invite you to the 40th Annual Conference of North East India History Associati on to be held in our college on 24th , 25th, and 26th October,2019. The members’ camp will be opened in the a ernoon of 23rd October,2019 and will be closed on 27th,October,2019 morning. Assam: Assam is one of the North-eastern states of India. It is located to the south of the eastern Himalayas along the Brahmaputra and Barak river valleys. Nestled in the lush green bio-diverse environment, Assam is surrounded by Bhutan and Arunachal Pradesh to the North; Nagaland and Manipur to the east; Meghalaya, Tripura, and Bangladesh to the south; and west Bengal to the west. In fact, Assam is the Gateway to the other parts of North East India . It has a geographical area of 78,438 square kilometre with a total populati on of 31,205,576 ( as per 2011 census) Assam is known to the world for its wildlife, archaeological sites, tea plantati on, crude oil, and natural silk. And very especially Assam takes pride in its one horned rhinoceros. Assam is also a land of rich ethnic and cultural diversity. There has been a confl uence of people of the Indo-Aryan, Austro-Asiati c and Tibeto-Burman origin in the state and this has designed the present tapestry of culture and traditi on of Assamese society. Also, the state of Assam has a rich ancient socio-cultural history, which can be traced way back in the Vedic and Tantric literature, Assamese folklore and Buddhist literature. Guwahati is the largest city in Assam and Northeast India. Dispur, the state capital of Assam, is situated in Guwahati city. Guwahati , which is on the banks of the river Brahmaputra , is a place surrounded by green hills and hillocks. It is known for historical holy sites like Kamakhya Temple on the Nilachal hill-top, Navagraha Temple, an ancient astronomical and astrological centre with planetary shrines on Chitrachal hill and Umananda Temple of Lord Shiva on Peacock Island in the Brahmaputra river and so on and so forth. Karmashree Hiteswar Saikia College: Karmashree Hiteswar Saikia College is a fast growing co-educati onal insti tuti on located in the south- eastern part of the city of Guwahati near Six mile on the Panjabari Road, Guwahati , Assam. It is only 3.1km away from Assam’s capital Dispur. Established in the year 1988, the college shi ed to its present permanent locati on under the acti ve patronage of Late Hiteswar Saikia, the then Chief Minister of Assam in whose fond memory the college was aptly renamed by the public in 2004. The college today is an acti ve hub of educati on for both Arts and Commerce streams as well as professional course with modern infrastructural faciliti es amidst a quiet and serene atmosphere conducive to educati onal pursuits Climate of Guwahati : Guwahati ’s climate is subtropical. The latt er part of October will be temperate with an average temperature of about 280 -300 Celsius during day ti me and about 200-220 Celsius during night with the advent of winter. Travelling to Karmashree Hiteswar Saikia College: Guwahati is connected to the rest of India and world by a network of roads, railways and air. Road communicati on to Karmashree Hiteswar Saikia college is very convenient. It is just 34.8 km from LGB Internati onal Airport and 9.1km from Guwahati Railway Stati on. Also, the college is just 11.6 km away from Rupnath Brahma Inter State Bus Terminal, Betkuchi, Guwahati . Tourist taxis and city buses to the college are available from these stati ons. Accommodati on: Outstati on members of the associati on will be accommodated in the college campus and Srimanta Sankaradev Kalakshetra .Modest accommodati on facility will be provided to the parti cipati ng outstati on members only. Any non-member of NEIHA or family members accompanying the parti cipants will not be provided accommodati on. Accommodati on will only be arranged for those members who inform the undersigned by 10th Oct.2019. The confi rmati on of the accommodati on will be communicated by 20th Oct.2019. Recepti on and Registrati on: On arrival at Karmashree Hiteswar Saikia College, Guwahati , the members may report at the conference recepti on desk . Registrati on for the 40th Annual Conference NEIHA will commence in the a ernoon of 20th Sept.,2019 and conti nue up to 23rd Oct. 2019. The registrati on fee is INR 800/-(Rupees Eight hundred only) for all the members a ending the 40th Annual Conference and availing accommodati on. This charge includes accommodati on for outstati on members, food, local conveyance and conference bag etc. Outstati on members may send or enclose the amount as Demand Dra in favour of Local Secretary, 40th NEIHA, payable at CANARA BANK, Panjabari Branch (A/c No. 4075101004032/ IFSC : CNRB0004075). Registrati on fees for local delegates without availing accommodati on will be INR 600/- (Rupees Six hundred only)

Members intending to att end the 40th Annual Conference of NEIHA are requested to kindly fi ll up the Proforma and enclose the delegate fee of INR 800/- (Rupees eight hundred only)/INR 600/- (Rupees Six hundred only) so that it reaches the undersigned by 10th Oct,2019.
