THIS PETITION COMING ON FOR ORDERS THIS DAY, THE COURT MADE THE FOLLOWING: ORDER After arguing the matter for some time, the learned counsel for the petitioner has filed a memo seeking permission of the Court to withdraw this petition by granting liberty to the petitioner to voluntarily surrender himself before the jurisdictional Sessions Court and apply for regular bail and in such an event, the Sessions Court may be directed to consider and dispose of his bail application on the same day. The memo is taken on record. Accordingly petition is dismissed as withdrawn by granting liberty to the petitioner to voluntarily surrender himself before the jurisdictional Sessions Court and apply for regular bail, by serving a copy of the bail application on the concerned Public Prosecutor, : 3 : who appears before the Sessions Court, well in advance, so as to enable him to file objection on the day when bail application is listed before the Court for consideration without seeking time. In such an event, the learned Sessions Court shall consider and dispose of the bail application as expeditiously as possible in the facts and circumstances of the case, preferably on the same day. Some other fine landmarks are the Jaina Narayana sanctuary at Pattadakal and the Navalinga sanctuaries at Kuknur in Karnataka. The Rashtrakutas contributed much to the way of life of the Deccan. The Rashtrakuta commitments to craftsmanship and engineering are reflected in the breathtaking rock-cut hallowed places at Ellora and Elephanta58, arranged in present day Mahárashtra. It is said that they out and out built 34 rock-cut hallowed places, yet most broad and extravagant of every one of them is the Kailasanatha sanctuary at Ellora. The sanctuary is an unbelievable accomplishment of Dravidian workmanship.   • Indian Records of Eclipses
    Indian Records of Eclipses: Their Historical Matrix B.V. Subbarayappa (Former President, IUHPS (DHS); e-mail: [email protected] ) (Paper presented at the International Workshop on Eclipse Records: Tokyo; Nov. 2014) In India, mathematical or computational astronomy had its beginning around the fourth century CE. The first authentic and concise text, called the Āryabhaṭīyam of Āryabhaṭa I (b.476 A.D.) appeared towards the close of the fifth century. Ever since, an appreciably large number of texts, some of them being voluminous, came out from time to time till the middle of the nineteenth century over a span of nearly a thousand and four hundred years. Many of them, besides other astronomical aspects, deal with eclipses, both lunar and solar, in a comprehensive manner – cause of eclipse; duration of the eclipse; half duration; first and last contact of the eclipsed one; determination of the obscured portion of any time; possibility of an eclipse; diagrammatic representation; path of the eclipsing body; parallax in longitude and its application; likewise parallax in latitude; and also the conditions for the impossibility of the occurrence of an eclipse in the context of the position of the sun and that of the node - all in a scientific manner. Calendar – making was and has been even now, an important component of the computational methods given in most of these texts. Of the three types, namely the lunar, solar and luni-solar with intercalation of an additional lunar month once in about three years, has its place, while the first two are being used largely sill in different parts of India.
