See the list. Title: The The Red and the Black and the Black 08 Mar Scully survives the mass killing but has no memory of what might have happened. She agrees to undergo regression hypnosis and recalls what happened, including that Cassandra Spender was re-abducted. Agent Spender refuses to believe anything to do with his mother's abduction stories. The conspirators now realize that there is a war among the aliens and that the alien resistance fighters would make formidable allies. The Well- Manicured Man also reveals that, courtesy of Krycek, they may now have a vaccine against the black oil. It doesn't appear to work as promised however. Written by garykmcd. I love the ending so much. Alien bounty hunter try's to kill rebel love the twist so much it was filmed in an air base force which the story was set. Scully Gillian Anderson is hypnosis to revel the evnts what happened on the bridge: the Rebels burning her fellow abductees, as well as a Colonist spacecraft killing the Rebels and abducting Cassandra. Fantastic performence from Gillian Anderson. Patient X and The Red and the Black manages to use that iconography in an interesting and thought-provoking manner. Instead of clumsily grafting religious imagery on to the mythology to help create a sense of familiarity or recognisability, the two-parter instead uses the idea of divinity to make the show's extraterrestrials seem all the more alien and The Red and the Black. Maybe the colonists are comparable to gods; and that The Red and the Black to make them even more strange and even more unsettling. There is a sense that we repeat these stories so often that we lose the sense of horror that they should impart. Perhaps that is the face of the divine embodied by the "colonists" in The X-Files. Marita Covarrubias played by beautiful Laurie Holden is in this episode a test subject for the the black oil Vaxine and it administered on her. Patient X and The Red and the Black is not only interested in the way that the conspiracy of powerful men tends to victimise women. The two-parter is fascinated with victimhood in general. Not only do Dmitri and the rebels have their eyes seal shut; their mouths are also sealed over. They cannot speak, they cannot talk. They are victims rendered incapable of expressing their suffering to the world. In fact, one suspects that - even if they could express themselves - their suffering would fall on deaf ears. I love this episode to death I love the ending so much. Alex Krycek storms at Mulder tells him the truth about alien Colonoziation. A war is raging between the aliens and that the Rebel immolations are meant to halt the impending colonization of Earth. Great performence by David Duchovny as Skeptical Fox Mulder now but really wondrerful performance that gain his fait agin on the end with Alien Bounty Hunter and the rebel. In this episode, Mulder has Scully put under hypnosis to learn the truth about her abduction after Cassandra Spender Veronica Cartwright goes missing and her son Jeffrey Chris Owens angrily attempts to push his way up in the FBI. The Syndicatemeanwhile, quicken their tests for the black oil vaccine, sacrificing their own to do so. Director Rob Bowman was originally slated to direct the episode, but filming issues resulted in Carter directing it. Carter later described the episode, along with "Patient X", as The Red and the Black "the most challenging and logically The Red and the Black projects of the season. In the mountain wilderness of Canadasomeone in a cabin writes a letter addressed to "Son" and expresses hopes that they may reconcile. The envelope is addressed to the FBIand is given to a boy courier for mailing. Dana Scully Gillian Anderson is found with only minor burns, one of approximately fifty survivors who were found nearby in the woods. Jeffrey Spender arrives looking for The Red and the Black mother, Cassandra Veronica Cartwrightwho is missing. The Red and the Black meets with Scully about the incident, but she does not remember anything. Jeffrey sees Mulder and warns him not to get involved with his mother, who remains missing. The Well-Manicured Man believes that the Russians possess a functional vaccine to the black oil, or else Krycek would not The Red and the Black infected the boy. With a working vaccine, resistance to the alien Colonists is possible. A spacecraft crashes at Wiekamp Air Force base in West Virginiaand the surviving Rebel passenger is captured by the military. Mulder shows Scully more photos of the victims and, having found more implants in them, believes the implant in Scully may be able to answer all of their questions. The Syndicate meets over the capture of the Rebel. The Well-Manicured Man informs them of the existence of the Russian vaccine, believing that The Red and the Black makes resistance to the Colonists possible. If the vaccine is ineffective he proposes avoiding handing over the Rebel and instead forming an alliance with the Rebels, but the other Syndicate members The Red and the Black this would be a suicidal course of action. Under hypnosisScully recalls the Rebels burning her fellow abductees, as well as a Colonist spacecraft killing the Rebels and abducting Cassandra. During a meeting with Walter SkinnerMulder continues to insist that the events have been orchestrated by the military and not by aliens. Meanwhile, the Russian vaccine seems to have no effect on Marita. Jeffrey shows Scully a video of him talking about aliens while under hypnosis while The Red and the Black was a child, claiming his mother had forced him to make those statements. Krycek is released and attacks Mulder in his apartment. He claims that a war is raging between the aliens and that the Rebel immolations are meant to halt the impending colonization of Earth. He also claims that the captured Rebel is critical to their plans and must not die. Scully visits Mulder and reveals she has been reconsidering her memories of abduction, while Mulder reveals he is newly taking them seriously as a result of his encounter with Krycek. However, Mulder witnesses a second Rebel arriving to seemingly kill the Bounty Hunter and rescue the captured Rebel. Mulder is released by the military but is confused by what he saw. In Canada we see the boy return the unopened letter to the cabin and the sender is revealed to be The Smoking Man William B. According to series creator Chris Carterthe cast list for the episode, along with "Patient X" was "longer than most cast lists you'll ever see on a TV series".

I was so obsessed with the show, I had action figures of Mulder and Scully on my windowsill, donning little FBI badges, plastic guns and flashlights. In case you never watched the show -- Fox Mulder and Dana Scully were FBI agents assigned to paranormal cases. They were also on an epic quest to unravel a conspiracy between aliens and a small group of powerful men that were quietly preparing the human race for colonization. Mulder was believed in every supernatural phenomenon. Scully was the skeptic. But I wasn’t a fan to the end. David Duchovny left after seven seasons, and I thought they should’ve wrapped it up but they kept going with new actors.

[email protected] Article Incandescent: 1 Light Bulbs and Conspiracies Grace Halden / __________________________________________ Light bulbs are with us every day, illuminating the darkness or supplementing natural light. Light bulbs are common objects with a long history; they seem innocuous and easily terminated with the flick of a switch. The light bulb is an important invention that, as Roger Fouquet notes, was transformational with regard to industry, economy and the revolutionary ability to ‘live and work in a well-illuminated environment’.2 Wiebe Bijker, in Of Bicycles, Bakelites and Bulbs (1997), explains that light bulbs show an integration between technology and society and how these interconnected advancements have led to a sociotechnical evolution.3 However, in certain texts the light bulb has been portrayed as insidious, controlling, and dehumanising. How this everyday object has been curiously demonised will be explored here. Through looking at popular cultural conceptions of light and popular conspiracy theory, I will examine how the incandescent bulb has been portrayed in dystopian ways.4 By using the representative texts of The Light Bulb Conspiracy (2010), The X-Files (1993-2002), and Thomas Pynchon’s Gravity’s Rainbow (1973), I will explore how this commonplace object has been used to symbolise the malevolence of individuals and groups, and the very essence of technological development itself.

    CHAPTER 4 Life in the Colonies 4.1 Introduction n 1723, a tired teenager stepped off a boat onto Philadelphia’s Market Street wharf. He was an odd-looking sight. Not having luggage, he had I stuffed his pockets with extra clothes. The young man followed a group of “clean dressed people” into a Quaker meeting house, where he soon fell asleep. The sleeping teenager with the lumpy clothes was Benjamin Franklin. Recently, he had run away from his brother James’s print shop in Boston. When he was 12, Franklin had signed a contract to work for his brother for nine years. But after enduring James’s nasty temper for five years, Franklin packed his pockets and left. In Philadelphia, Franklin quickly found work as a printer’s assistant. Within a few years, he had saved enough money to open his own print shop. His first success was a newspaper called the Pennsylvania Gazette. In 1732, readers of the Gazette saw an advertisement for Poor Richard’s Almanac. An almanac is a book, published annually, that contains information about weather predictions, the times of sunrises and sunsets, planting advice for farmers, and other useful subjects. According to the advertisement, Poor Richard’s Almanac was written by “Richard Saunders” and printed by “B. Franklin.” Nobody knew then that the author and printer were actually the same person. In addition to the usual information contained in almanacs, Franklin mixed in some proverbs, or wise sayings. Several of them are still remembered today. Here are three of the best- known: “A penny saved is a penny earned.” “Early to bed, early to rise, makes a man healthy, wealthy, and wise.” “Fish and visitors smell in three days.” Poor Richard’s Almanac sold so well that Franklin was able to retire at age 42.

Along the way, bees left their small mark on the literature of the American west—especially in the period between 1840 and 1860, when settlers were spreading across the flowering prairies of the Midwest. Swarming: Bees as a Marker of the Frontier The honey bee was recorded in Illinois as early as 1820, when the traveler John Woods observed settlers hunting for honey in hollow trees (349-350). Twelve years later, in 1832, William Cullen Bryant travelled to Illinois to visit his brother, who had emigrated there shortly after the death of their mother. On that visit, Bryant wrote his poem “The Prairies,” in which the honey bee evokes the arrival of white settlers on the prairie: The bee, A more adventurous colonist than man, Fills the savannas with his murmurings, And hides his sweets, as in the golden age, Within the hollow oak. I listen long To his domestic hum, and think I hear The sound of that advancing multitude Which soon shall fill these deserts.
