Each student-athlete has been nominated by his/her respective institution and exemplifies the Christian ideals held by the NCCAA. Accomplishments are listed for the preceding week-Monday through Saturday. Men’s Soccer DI Stevenson Storm, junior forward from Kalamazoo, MI, led Spring Arbor University to a 2-0 start to their season, scoring three goals in the first two matches. He scored both goals in SAU's 2-1 season opening win over Trinity International. His goal against Roosevelt came off a penalty kick in the 74th minute to complete the 2-1 come from behind win. Men’s Soccer DI Offensive Nominees: Stevenson Storm, Spring Arbor University; Ross McGuigan, Tennessee Temple University; Corey Lopez, Indiana Wesleyan University Women’s Soccer DI Madison Ratchford, freshman forward from Taylorsville, KY, leads Campbellsville University with two goals through two games. She scored CU's first goal of the season Friday night in a 2-0 shutout win over Montreat and followed with another goal Saturday against Truett-McConnell. Both games were played at the YMCA in Mason, NC. Friday's win was the first season- opening win for Campbellsville since 2005. Women’s Soccer DI Offensive Nominees: Madison Ratchford, Campbellsville University; Corrie Good, Spring Arbor University; Carianne Sobey, Grace College; Celly Ruiz, Point University, Nicole Biggs, Indiana Wesleyan University Amanda Howard, freshman goalkeeper from Harrodsburg, KY, made her collegiate debut at Campbellsville University with a seven-save shutout win over Montreat College in the 2014 season opener. She followed with two saves in a 2-1 win against Truett- McConnell College. Howard ends the two-game week with 9 saves and a .500 goals against average. Volleyball DI Ellie Harp, senior setter from Abilene, TX, was named the Wyndham Classic Most Valuable Player as she led Grace College to a perfect 4-0 record at the season-opening tournament. Harp averaged 10 assists/set, topping 45 assists three times. She handed out 50 assists with 10 digs against Indiana Tech and had 49 assists and 5 kills against IU-Kokomo. Overall for the week, Harp had 15 kills over the four matches, hitting at a .235 percentage, with a total of 169 assists. Volleyball DI Nominees: Lyndsay Murray, Spring Arbor University; Naomi Posada, Tennessee Temple University; Ellie Harp, Grace College; Daniela Pena, Oklahoma Wesleyan University; Aubrey Husak, Bethel College; Ashlen Buck, Indiana Wesleyan University Women’s Tennis Katie Wilson, junior from Middletown, IN, helped Indiana Wesleyan University win their season opener verses IU Southeast on Saturday with a 9-0 score. Men’s Soccer DI Pedro Amaral, junior forward from Belo Horizonte, Brazil, boosted the Bethel College Pilots to a win and a draw in the first week of the season netting four total goals. In the first outing against Trinity International, Amaral recorded the go-ahead goal in the 64th minute and then recorded his first career hat-trick against Northwestern College as he tallied three goals. Men’s Soccer DI Offensive Nominees: Alex Ryan, Campbellsville University; Pedro Amaral, Bethel College; Jamie Campbell, Southwestern Christian University; Elliot Thompson, Greenville College; Richie Hershkowitz, Greenville College; Anthony Juncaj, Spring Arbor University Nestor Escobar, junior goalkeeper from Caracas, Venezula, made his varsity debut for Campbellsville University, filling in at goalkeeper after the Tigers top two keepers were unable to compete in the opening week. Escobar collected two shutout wins and 6 saves in route to a 3-0 week. Campbellsville defeated Ohio Christian University 5-0, Siena Heights University 4-2, and Clarke University 8- 0. Men’s Soccer DII Mitchell Martens, sophomore forward from Steinbach, Manitoba, was a constant threat as the Providence Pilots opened with wins on the road against NAIA opponents. He scored both goals in the 2-0 win against Presentation College and a spectacular game winner in a 2-1 result over York College. Men’s Soccer DII Offensive Nominees: Mitchell Martens, Providence University College; Ben Maxey, Toccoa Fallas College Women’s Soccer DI Stephany Ellison, senior from Whitesville, NY, scored 3 goals in Houghton College’s 3-0 season opening win at Westminster College, PA and netted 2 goals, including the game winner, in Houghton’s 3-2 victory at Grove City College, PA (1-1). Women’s Soccer DI Offensive Nominees: Madison Ratchford, Campbellsville University; Diana Diaz-Diurych, Bethel College; Stephany Ellison, Houghton College; Samantha Yasatan, Trinity International University; Abbey Fuller, Spring Arbor University Amanda Howard, freshman goalkeeper from Harrodsburg, KY, has helped Campbellsville University to its best start in at least a decade at 3-0. The CU midfield and defense didn't allow many scoring opportunities by Indiana Wesleyan University in the Lady Tigers' home opener Aug. 30, but Howard had two key saves in back-to-back plays to help keep the Tigers in front. Women’s Soccer DI Defensive Nominees: Amanda Howard, Campbellsville University; Courtney Harrison, Spring Arbor University Volleyball DI Courtney Samudio, senior outside hitter from Surprise, AZ, led the Trinity Christian College Trolls to win three of their four matches, including a win over No. 10 Lindsey Wilson University, in the Saint Xavier/Trinity Crossover Tournament. Samudio led the team in hitting with a total of 65 kills in the four matches. She averaged 4.06 kills/set with a .269 attacking percentage. In the match with ranked Lindsey Wilson she recorded 21 kills with a .372 attaching percentage and had the final kill in the fourth set to give the team the 25-23 win and the match win. Against RV Cornerstone she had 12 kills. She was pivotal in the match win over St. Ambrose with 17 kills- many of which came at crucial times. She also had 15 kills against Point Park. Volleyball DI Nominees: Annija Abolina, Campbellsville University; Aubrey Husak, Bethel College; Elizabeth Simonelli, Judson University; Courtney Samudio, Trinity Christian College; Shanay Gonder, University of Northwestern; Hattie Burgher, Houghton College Volleyball DII Alison Renz, sophomore opposite from Lake Mills, WI, helped guide the Maranatha Baptist University squad to a Spikefest Tournament Title at Faith Baptist Bible College, as the team went 12-0 in sets. Renz posted 42 kills, a 38% attacking, 8 digs, 9 block assists, 3 block solo, and was named to the All- Tournament Team. Football Jacob Russell, senior quarterback from Lawrenceburg, KY, was named the Mid-South Conference Offensive Player of the Week on Monday after setting three Campbellsville University single-game passing records in his debut for the Fighting Tigers. Russell broke a Campbellsville single-game record with his 414 passing yards. Russell matched the program record with five touchdown passes while also broke the record for longest pass play in CU history, a 97- yard touchdown toss to Demytreus Gipson. Football Offensive Nominees: Jacob Russell, Campbellsville University; Roycen Routte, Trinity Bible College Men’s Cross Country DI Brett Pierce, senior from Edgewood, KY, helped lead Campbellsville to a repeat first-place finish at the Asbury University Invitational in Wilmore, Ky., on Saturday. Pierce ran the 5k course in 16:21 and finished first individually. Women’s Cross Country DI Anna Bos, senior from Rockford, MI, in the first meet of the season, won the 5K event. She led the pack and finished nine seconds ahead of the next competitor. She finished in 18:52, averaged a 6.04 mile, and helped the team take 2nd place of the six competition teams. Women’s Cross Country DI Nominees: Sarah Johnson, Campbellsville University; Anna Bos, Trinity Christian College Men’s Golf Justin Hazel, sophomore from Campbellsville, KY, shot +1 to finish seventh in the Presidents Cup Aug. 30-31 at The Pines in Columbia, Ky. Hazel shot a 67 on the first day to lead all players, but struggled with a 76 on day two. The Presidents Cup is a Ryder Cup style head-to-head tournament against rival Lindsey Wilson College. Campbellsville finished second as a team in the tournament. Men’s Golf Nominees: Justin Hazel, Campbellsville University; Cody Lysher, Spring Arbor University Women’s Golf Anna Marie Hyatt, sophomore from Lawrenceburg, KY, was low medalist at the season-opening Presidents Cup Aug. 30-31 against Lindsey Wilson College at The Pines in Columbia, Ky. Hyatt shot 79 on the first day and 76 on day two in the Ryder Cup style tournament. She helped lead Campbellsville University to win the inaugural event against LWC, 7 1/2 to 3 1/2. Women’s Golf Nominees: Anna Marie Hyatt, Campbellsville University; Brittney Walker, Oakland City University Men’s Tennis Jesse DeBoer, junior from Allegan, MI, helped lead Spring Arbor to back-to-back wins to open the 2014 season, defeating Saint Francis 6-3 and Bethel 8-1.

Growing up in Wrentham, Massachusetts, Patryn would go on to graduate from Westfield State College in 1976 with a degree in education. Fast forward to June 21, 2018, and Patryn was experiencing her last day as a teacher.
