Tenderers should note that the following alterations (subject to consultation) are proposed as part of this Service Specification for introduction with the new Route Agreement: 60 capacity, dual door, single deck vehicles are specified (55 capacity, dual door, single deck vehicles are acceptable), subject to a satisfactory route test. The designation Route No. N236 is used for contractual purposes only. This service will be marketed as Route No. 236. This includes all publicity, including destination blind displays. On Route No. N236, departures are re-timed to improve the day/night interface. Tenderers must identify the cost of the Nightly element of this service separately. 3) QSI POINTS & MILEAGE It is intended Route No. 236 will have 80 surveys per quarter at the following locations: QSI POINTS Towards Hackney Wick, Eastway Towards Finsbury Park Station, Station Place Finsbury Park Homerton Hospital Newington Green (PM only) Hackney Well Street $ Hackney Well Street $ Newington Green (AM only) MILEAGE: See Attached iBus Sheets It is unlikely that the minimum number of QSI surveys for Threshold measurement will be conducted on Route No. N236 at present. However, this may change at a later date when a Threshold figure may be published. $ This location observed simultaneously in both directions - counted as two surveys. 4) OPERATIONAL CONSIDERATIONS 4.1) Route No. 236 should interwork with Route No. N236 between Finsbury Park Station, Station Place and Hackney Wick, Eastway to form a seamless 24 hour service. 4.2) When compiling schedules Tenderers are asked to consider passengers making connections to other services at the following locations: Finsbury Park, Canonbury and Hackney Central Stations. 4.3) Route No. 236 can suffer unpredictable traffic delays in the Finsbury Park and Homerton areas, particularly during peak periods. 4.4) Football matches at Arsenal Football Club can cause severe traffic congestion in the Finsbury Park area. 4.5) Ridley Road market may cause delays in the Dalston area. 4.6) Uncontrolled parking on Newington Green Road may cause delays, especially during evenings. 4.7) Delays in Highbury Park due to the width of the road and local shops. 4.8) Hackney Sunday market (Hackney Marshes) may cause delay to the service. 4.9) Under no circumstances must double deck buses be taken along Stroud Green Road south of the junction with Morris Place due to a low railway bridge. Buses must not turn right out of Finsbury Park Bus Station. 4.10) The Olympic Park is located within an area bounded by Stratford High Street, the River Lee Navigation, Ruckholt Road and Leyton Road. The site is adjacent to and part overlaps the Stratford City Development (SCD). Construction of facilities for the 2012 Games has commenced. 4.11) Immediately following 2012, a number of buildings will be converted for legacy uses. The Olympic Village will become housing, the Press Centre converted for other employment uses and some venues retained for public use. 4.12) Beyond this, further significant development is expected in the Olympic Park site after 2014. This will be more clearly defined through a Legacy Masterplan due to be worked up in detail in 2010. 4) OPERATIONAL CONSIDERATIONS - continued 4.13) The 2012 Olympic Games open on Friday 27th July and close on Sunday 12th August. The 2012 Paralympic Games start on Wednesday 29th August and close on Sunday 9th September. The Games will result in additional passenger demand across the network, requiring additional capacity on some routes. There will also be a number of road closures in the event areas resulting in route diversions. Operators should be aware there will be implications to them during this time.
