P a G E 1 | 13 Honoring Christ through Excellence in Athletics Visiting Team Guide Athletic Department 208 8th St SW Orange City, IA 51041 Page 1 | 13 Honoring Christ through Excellence in Athletics Welcome to Northwestern College. We are certainly proud of the long tradition of excellence in football that Red Raider fans have come to expect. A long legacy of talented coaches and players have represented the mission of our college and athletic program for many decades. Our intent as an athletic department is to Honor Christ through Excellence in Athletics. We are grateful to be a part of the Great Plains Athletic Conference and respect the opportunity to compete against your team. The campus and Orange City community welcome you to the great experience that is college football. This fall marks the 39th year the Red Raiders have been a part of the NAIA. We are pleased to be an NAIA "Champions of Character" institution for the 15th straight year. Please join me in helping us provide an environment that positively supports the players, coaches, fans, and officials. We believe that promoting the NAIA core values of respect, integrity, responsibility, servant leadership and sportsmanship help teach our student athletes more than how to be a great athlete. We are glad you are here and encourage you to spend time exploring the campus of Northwestern College and the great community of Orange City. Enjoy the contest. GO RED RAIDERS! These protocols also follow GPAC guidelines that can be found at www.gpacsports.com. Red Raider fans are encouraged to read the protocols for opponent venues at away contests, as every stadium/gym/field has varying seating availability. The following protocols will be implemented for Red Raider home athletic events: Home Event Regulations - Attendance will be limited to 50% capacity of our provided seating at all venues. - Hand sanitizing/disinfecting wipe stations will be available to fans throughout the venue. - All fans are required to wear a mask and observe physical distancing while present in Northwestern facilities. - Family groups are asked to sit together and maintain physical distance between themselves and other fans. - NW coaches, student athletes and event staff have numerous daily and gameday procedures in place to help keep all Red Raiders safe. - Tailgating will not be permitted on campus. Venue-Specific Procedures De Valois Stadium - Entrances will open 90 minutes prior to kick-off in an effort to ensure accurate capacity count at gates. - Red Raider fans will enter the stadium through west entrances and utilize west grandstands. - Visiting teams will enter through the east entrance and utilize east bleachers. - To further promote physical distancing, signage and event staff will direct fans to specific bleacher entrances and exits. Soccer Stadium - Fans are encouraged to bring their own seating and to use the west sideline to physical distance from others. Bultman Center for Intercollegiate Sports - Entrances will open 30 minutes before JV volleyball matches and 1 hour before basketball contests in an effort to ensure accurate capacity count at gates. - For the 2020-2021 season, masks will be required for those individuals not playing in the game/match. We are pleased to be in Lincoln for our 15th annual media day as we prepare to kick-off another year of football in the GPAC. I want to thank Julie Page from the Cornhusker Marriott, Brian Keller from Nebraska Wesleyan, and GPAC Assistiant Commissioner Lucas Mohrman for their assistance in preparing for this annual event. Excitement for media day continues to grow each year in the league from our inaugural event back in 2000 at Mahoney State Park. A special thank you to our GPAC Football Officials Coordinators Justin Ingalls and Pete Hansen for their atten- dance today as well. It’s positive for the GPAC to have the Officials Coordinators and coaches in the same room at the same time for discussion on rules and interpretations prior to the season. Also, once again this year, we will be conducting a media poll along with the coaches’ poll for the preseason.
