The Weekly Tea

Slate Hill Student Newspaper

Weekly Dose of Internet Elijah Pineda

1: The Parrot fish: The parrot fish has a unique behavioral adaptation. The behavioral adaptation is where the parrot fish makes a bubble around it when it is sleeping to protect it from blood sucking muukas. But if the parrot fish makes the bubble over a sharpish rock, the bubble can pop and the fish would be exposed.

2: Flamingo: Flamingos are pretty cool birds. I mean they’re tall, they’re pink, but not all of them are pink. The reason for this is because Flamingos only turn pink because the food they eat. For example, Flamingos usually eat shrimp which is pink which turns them pink. So if you would like to keep a flamingo home and give it other food than shrimp, it would stay the color it was when it was born. Which is gray.

3: Crystal Quartz Cave: Yes, Crystal Quartz Caves actually do exist. But they are very rare to find. For instance, some caves contain 45-70 feet quartz attached to one side of it.

4: IC 1101: IC 1101 is the biggest thing known in the universe. I don’t know for sure, but I think it is a huge cloud in our observable universe. Scientists say that there are probably way bigger things than just IC 1101.

5: Planet X??: Planet X is a known planet that I’m not so sure about. Apparently, on there is a strange myth that a planet called Planet X. It is said that it is the furthest planet from the sun. No one knows if it is an inner planet, or an outer planet. I personally do not believe this myth but some people do. I recommend you to look this up on youtube because it is pretty interesting.

6: Vanta Black: Vanta Black is the blackest black in the world. Vanta Black is a color that absorbs about 70% of all light around it. There is also another color called Vanta Black 2.0. This color absorbs about 90% of light around it. Scientists are trying to make a Vanta Black 3.0 to absorb 100% of light but that might take a very long while to make. cdk

Okay that is it for my article about xmas. Warrior Dogs

By: Linley Thomas

Part 2 “The what now?” Suddenly, a silver, brown, and white Border Collie came toward the dog and I. “Hello, pup. I see you met Graystripe. I’m Starpaw, leader of the StarClan. You are a very good fighter.” She said. “Thanks?” I said. “Starpaw, don’t ask him. He does not have warrior blood.” Said a warrior German Shepherd. Starpaw glared at the warrior and said, “Tigerpaw! We don’t NEED warrior blood! Too many warriors have died lately!” Tigerpaw looked as dry as a desert with eyes glowing black and his cinnamon and white coat shining in the sun. “Anyway, pup, would you like to be a part of the StarClan?” Asked Starpaw. “Um… sure.” I said. I saw Graystripe's ears go up and I knew it was the right choice. “Graystripe, show…” “Ghost.” I say, introducing myself. “Oh no! Not Ghost! You look like a… Whitepaw?” “Yes! Whitepaw’s an AMAZING name for him! He’s a black lab with white paws!” Exclaimed Graystripe. I saw the husky's eyes spark in awe. “Let’s go to the camp. Graystripe, if you could lead him to the apprentice den.” “Okay, ma’am.” Graystripe dashed ahead of Starpaw and Tigerpaw. I ran after him and caught up. “Can you imagine your WARRIOR name! Starpaw tells you in your first day as an apprentice. Mine is dumb.” Graystripe said. “What is it?” I ask. “Um… Grayclaw.” “That’s cool.” “No it’s not. Here we are, home.” I had not realized that we had gone through a forest tundra into a large clearing with many other dogs.

Where The Flowers Grow Part Six

A Poem By Laasya Shrikari Valasala Author’s Note To Reader: Do NOT use this poem as an informational source!

Stars and planets and great big black holes take me to the place where the magnolias grow That only the magnolias know They are beautiful snow white flowers That drip a muddy brown in showers Grow on the largest pale barked trees Encompassed in velvety pale green leaves That bloom for the days of early spring When the breeze blows and the birds sing When thin leaves’ stubs grow on trees’ limbs And most things grow but gardeners trim The magnolia grows few nights and few days And everyone comes out and children play Under the magnolia’s sprawling branches People have picnic with an assortment of ranches
