Dear Parents, Friends and Guardians, You are no doubt hearing a number of things in relation to schools and the Coronavirus (COVID-19). At this point in time we have had no directives or recent updates in relation to this Virus. I will inform you should we receive any such information. I ask that if you are travelling overseas, that you do adhere to the recommended practices for your children before returning them to school. We do not have any cases of COVID-19 however we are requesting that any students, parents and staff presenting with cold or flu like symptoms should not attend school. We ask that you continue to speak to your children about the importance of washing their hands and good hygiene. Brendan Atley Principal

Enhancing Catholic Schools Identity survey It is our turn for all staff, all parents and Year 5& 6 students, to complete a survey about Catholic Identity. This survey is important as it endeavours to give us data on the thoughts and beliefs of parents, students and staff in regard to our Catholic Identity. It needs to be filled out online. You have received an email from the school with the School code and instructions on it. Please take some time to fill it out. It will take about 45 mins. We will have a box in the Office to drop in your printed off proof of completion with name and there will be a prize of a voucher at a local eatery. The survey is completely anonymous. This survey must be completed by 27th March, however try to get it done early to avoid website crashing from the volume of people on it. Schools right across Victoria will be trying to complete this survey in the next three weeks.

Indonesian News Last year we trialled some Year 5s as Indonesian Leaders. A big thank you to Indi, Steph, Charlie and Darcy who showed and developed their confidence in the area of Indonesian during 2019.

In 2020 the interest was overwhelming for this role, so we have decided to split the applicants into two groups for Semester 1 and then Semester 2. Our Semester 1 leaders are as above from top left to right: Issy, Jack, Hudson, Phebe and at the front left: Lillian and Chelsea. This super team are called Indo Gurus(being experts in Indonesian). Their role will involve meeting once a week within the Indonesian room, helping prepare Indonesian resources and providing support for teachers and students. We look forward to seeing these leaders develop their confidence and leadership skills.

STATE BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT Over the weekend we had some students compete in a state basketball tournament in Shepparton. Zane McGee was in The Southern Storms Blue under 12 boys. He said they played well overall and they ended up taking out main honours. During the game the other team were in the lead until half time. Zane’s team had a comeback and won. Also Summer Atkinson played in the under 12s girls who took out runners up in their category. They played against Melbourne Stars in their final. They won every game leading up to the Grand Final, but unfortunately came off second best. Well done to all of our students involved in the tournament. Check out the pictures of Zane & Summer’s teams. Written By Darcy Cullen

WOMEN’S T20 FINAL On Sunday, My dad and I had booked tickets to go to the T20 World Cup women’s final where Australia played India. Australia won the toss and elected to bat. and were first. They hit a lot of fours and Alyssa Healy hit five Sixers. Australia were hitting balls along the ground so India couldn’t get Australia out. It had been 10 overs and Australia was about 120 runs with no . Soon Alyssa Healy got out with 75 runs. Beth Mooney stayed in the whole Innings and made 78 runs. When Australia was fielding they got a lot of wickets from catching the ball and a few . I thought the best was the last one that took which made Australia win. After the game Alyssa Healy won player of the match and Beth Mooney won player of the tournament and broke the record of the most amount of runs in a T20 tournament. After the presentations Katy Perry had her Concert and my favourite song was Fireworks which all the Australian team was included in. Meagan Schutt and were dancing which was pretty funny. The next day at the celebrations I got a t-shirt which the team signed and a photo with , Beth Mooney and ; who is my favourite player that couldn’t play because she was injured. It was a very fun day and I enjoyed it all. Written By Elise Napier
