The 18th annual South Belt Spectacular Cookoff at El Franco Lee Park was a huge success this past weekend, with thou- face painting, hair braiding and extensions, a police cruiser and ambulance display and photos with a live Watusi bull named sands coming out to enjoy the sunshine and barbecue. While the event is primarily geared toward adults, organizers placed a Oliver. Children 12 and under were admitted free on Saturday with the purchase of one adult admission. The effort to make strong emphasis this year on Saturday being a family day, with several activities planned for children at no cost. Free children’s the event more family friendly proved effective, as hundreds more children attended the function than in previous years. See activities included moonwalks, rock climbing, pony rides, Gabby the Clown, a bopping head video booth, a petting zoo, a train, additional photos in next week’s Leader.
