A NEW MUSEUM HIGH- LIGHT IN THE HEART OF BERLIN

It is time to write a new chapter in the history of the success of the Allied Museum, which is currently still based in the former American Sector in the Southwest of Berlin. This internationally renowned col- lection will come into its own in a completely new way in Hangar 7 of Tempelhof Airport. The contemporary interpretation is to incorporate the historical ac- complishments of the Western powers in freeing Europe from National ALLIED MUSEUM STILL LOCATED IN THE Socialism, establishing democracy, the integration of the Federal BILDFORMER 1 AMERICAN SECTOR Republic into Western Europe and German reunification. In the new museum, it will be possible to position the larger exhibits at the center of the new permanent exhibition. Including the East German perspective To a significantly greater extent than has been the case in previous exhibitions, the story of the Allies and their special relationship with the people of Berlin will highlight the context of the German division as well as the global history of the Cold War. In making this move, the museum is showcasing both the Soviet and the East German perspec- tives, positioning the Allied Museum as one of the most prominent historical museums in Berlin and all of Germany. Across an area of over 35,000 sq. ft., large exhibits will be presented, and both permanent and special exhibitions will be staged. For the first time, the Allied Museum will have archive and library facilities with working areas for external users, thus providing further new servicesHEADLINE in the future.
