REGISTERED VITAL EVENTS IN 3rd Quarter 2020

This report summarizes the data gathered from July to August 2020 documents submitted from the local civil registry offices of the eleven municipalities in the province of Ifugao. The number of vital events in Ifugao for the 3rd semester reached 1, 124 registered documents. This represents 24.73 % increased from the 846 registered vital events from the previous semester. The province generated the following statistics: 813 for birth, 136 for marriage and 175 for death. In this July to August 2020 issue, the Philippine Statistics Authority of Ifugao presents the number of births, marriages, and deaths registered by municipalities in the province. The data are preliminary result from the Decentralized Vital Statistics System 2011 based on the documents submitted by the Local Civil Registry Offices in Ifugao.

EXPLANATORY NOTES

VITAL STATISTICS are derived from the information obtained at the time when the occurrences of vital events and their characteristics are inscribed in civil register.

Vital acts and events are the births, deaths, foetal deaths, marriages, and all events such that have something to do with an individual’s entrance and departure from life together with the changes in civil status that may occur to a person during his lifetime. Recording of these events in the civil register is known as vital or civil registration and the resulting documents are called vital records.

Data on vital statistics presented in the release were obtained from the documents registered at the Office the City/ Municipal Civil Registrars all throughout the country and forwarded to the Philippine Statistics Authority.

BIRTH STATISTICS

Registered live births increased by 22.14 percent The number of registered live births in the province of Ifugao in the 3rd semester 2020 totalled to 813, higher by 22.14 percent from 633 registered live births in the 2nd semester 2020. Lamut remained top registered live births in the 3rd quarter 2020 Among the 11 municipalities in the province, Lamut still recorded the most number of births in the province of Ifugao for the 3rd quarter of 2020 with 291, higher by 29.90 percent from 204 total registered births in the 2nd quarter 2020. Lamut is the location of the government hospital in Ifugao which is the Panopdopan District Hospital, hence, a high number of registered births were recorded. Other municipalities with high number of registered births are with 148 births, also with a district hospital and distantly behind are with 75, with 61and Aguinaldo with 55 births. Meanwhile, the municipality of had reported still the least number of births in the province with 7 or 0.86 percent of the total registered births.

MOST BABIES WERE BORN OF MARRIED MOTHERS

In the 3rd semester of 2020, out of 813 registered live births in the province there were about 62.73 percent or 510 births were legitimate, higher by 19.41 percent from 411 total registered births in the 2nd semester. Only 37.27 percent or 303 births were born out of wedlock, higher by 26.73 percent from 222 registered live births in the 2nd semester 2020.

Registered births for males have 420 births or 51.66 percent, higher by 19.76 from 337 registered males in the 2nd semester. Registered births for females have 393 births or 48.34 percent for females, higher by 24.68 from 296 total registered births foe females in the 2nd semester.

Out of 813 registered births in the province, there were about 88.44 percent or 719 births registered on time, and only 11.56 percent or 94 births were registered late.

MARRIAGE STATISTICS

Alfonso Lista recorded the highest registered marriages for the 3rd quarter 2020 In the 3rd quarter of 2020, a total of 136 registered marriages occurred in the province of Ifugao, higher by 67.65 percent from the 44 registered marriages in the 2nd semester of 2020. Alfonso Lista still remained the highest number of registered marriages with 29 couples which comprised of 21.32 percent of the total marriage registered. It was followed by Tinoc with 23 marriages which comprised 16.91 percent of the total registered marriages in the province. Distantly behind are Lamut and Aguinaldo with 17 & 16 registered marriages respectively. On the other hand, Banaue & Hingyon posted the lowest with only 3 or 2.21 percent of the registered couples.

DEATH STATISTICS

Alfonso Lista recorded the highest registered deaths for the 3rd quarter 2020 A total of 175 deaths recorded in the province of Ifugao for the 3rd quarter of 2020, higher by 3.43 percent from 169 registered deaths of the 2nd semester 2020. The highest death occurrences happened in the municipality of Alfonso Lista with 36 deaths which comprised 20.57 percent of the total number of deaths. Lamut registered 24 deaths which comprised 13.71 percent of the total registered deaths. Trailing behind are Banaue with 19, Kiangan and Lagawe with 16 & 15 registered deaths respectively. Meanwhile, Hungduan is lagged behind at the bottom track with 3 registered deaths or 1.71 percent.

In the 3rd quarter of 2020, there were about 102 or 58.29 percent registered deaths for males and only 73 or 41.71 percent for females. This indicates that more males had died than females.

MOST DEATHS WERE REGISTERED ON TIME

In the 3rd quarter of 2020, out of 175 registered deaths in the province there were about 82.86 percent or 145 deaths were registered on time and only 17.14 percent or 30 deaths were registered late.

332 Documents or 29.54 percent of the Total Documents was from the Municipality of Lamut

The province of Ifugao received a total of 1,124 registered documents for the 3rd quarter of 2020, higher by 24.73 from 846 total registered documents of the 2nd semester 2020. The municipality of Lamut has the highest documents received with a total of 332 or 29.54 percent, higher by 28.61 from 237 of the total documents in the 2nd semester 2020. It was followed by the municipalities of Alfonso Lista with 213 or 18.95 of the total documents. Distanly behind are Tinoc with 111, Aguinaldo with 84 and Banaue with 83. Meanwhile, the least municipality received was still Hingyon with only 18, higher by 0.71 from 8 total documents in the previous semester.

Definition of Terms

Vital statistics are derived from information obtained at the time when the occurrences of vital events and their characteristics are inscribed in a civil register.

Municipal Form No. 102 (Certification of Live Birth) is the prescribed form being used for the declaration of facts and circumstances surrounding the birth of a person for purpose of registration.

Municipal Form No. 103 (Certification of Death) is the prescribed form being used for the declaration of facts and circumstances surrounding the death of a person for purposes of registration.

Municipal Form No. 97 ( Certification of marriage) is used to record information pertaining to the marriage of the contracting parties. It contains information regarding the groom and the bride.

Live Birth is a complete expulsion or extraction from its mother of a product of conception, irrespective of the duration of the pregnancy, which after such separation breathes or shows any other evidence of life, such as beating of the heart, pulsation of the umbilical cord, or definite movement of voluntary muscles, whether or not the umbilical cord has been cut or the placenta is attached; each product of such a birth is considered liveborn.

Marriage is contract of permanent union between man and a woman entered into in accordance with law for the establishment of conjugal and family life.

Death refers to the permanent disappearance of all evidence of life at any time after live births has taken place (postnatal cessation of vital function without capability of resuscitation).
