Kide Leppäpohja & Nina Hagen FANI KIDE LEPPÄPOHJA & NINA HAGEN Fani-palsta avaa syvän kiinnostuksen arkistomateriaalit. 1. TUKHOLMA 1984 Punk kolahti muhun lapsesta saakka. Teininä perustin tyttöpunkbändi Make It Lewisin ja tutustuin Nina Hagenin NunSexMonkRock-levyyn. Me ystävystyttiin illan aikana. Nina antoi mulle osoitteensa ja jopa äitinsä puhelinnumeron. Kai kolmekymppinen Nina sitten vaan tykkäsi nuoresta suomalaisesta punkbändin solistista. 2. RUISROCK 1984 Me tavattiin uudestaan kesällä Ruisrockissa. Nina muisti mut ja raahasi meidän bändin mukanaan tv-spotteihin. 2. Sitten me lennettiinkin jo Ninan kanssa yksityislentoko- neella Tukholmaan. 3. LONTOO, JOULU 1984 Lontoossa mä ja Make It Lewisin Tyde punkkailtiin Ninan bestiksen Die Ratten Jennyn, eli Jenny the Ratin kanssa. Irokeesipää on Iroquois, Ninan 17-vuotias aviomies. Iroquois oli ruuvannut Ibizalla jonkun saakelin ilmastointikanavan luukun auki ja tupsahtanut suoraan Ninan takahuo- neeseen. Ja heti oli leiskahtanut rakkaus. Myöhemmin istuin Hansastudiolla sessiossa, missä äänitettiin Iro- quoisille omistettu Punkhochzeit-single. 3. 134 fani.indd 134 13.9.2011 21.10 FANI 4. Me muut ulvottiin taustalla. 6. PARIISI 2009 Toissa vuonna menin Ninan keikalle Pariisin Pigal- leen. Keikan jälkeen tapasin Ninan röökillä ravintolan edessä. Ei oltu nähty viiteentoista vuoteen. Jälleennä- keminen oli mieletön. Istuttiin ravintolassa, ja mainitse- matta vege-juttuja kumpikin haarukoi kanaa. Nykyään me nähdään Berliinissä monta kertaa vuodessa. Viime kesänä Berliinin Pride-festareilla esitin Ninalle kirjoit- tamani biisin Plastik Treen. ∙ 6. 135 fani.indd 135 13.9.2011 21.10.

Coverscaping: Discovering Album Aesthetics. Museum Tusculanum Press. 2 Abstract The Pomegranate Cycle is a practice-led enquiry consisting of a creative work and an exegesis. This project investigates the potential of self-directed, technologically mediated composition as a means of reconfiguring gender stereotypes within the operatic tradition. This practice confronts two primary stereotypes: the positioning of female performing bodies within narratives of violence and the absence of women from authorial roles that construct and regulate the operatic tradition. The Pomegranate Cycle redresses these stereotypes by presenting a new narrative trajectory of healing for its central character, and by placing the singer inside the role of composer and producer. During the twentieth and early twenty-first century, operatic and classical music institutions have resisted incorporating works of living composers into their repertory.

  • Thesis Writing Deliverables (Pdf)
DEFENSE SPEECH Discovering and listening to music has always been my biggest passion in life and my primary way of coping with my emotions. I think its main appeal to me since childhood has been the comfort it brings in knowing that at some point in time, another human felt the same thing as me and was able to survive and express it by making something beautiful. For my project, I recorded a 9 track album called Strange Machines while I was on leave of absence last year. This term, I created a 20 minute extended music video to accompany it. All of this lives on a page I coded on my personal website with some fun bonus content that I’ll scroll through at the end of this presentation. I’ll put the link in the comments so anyone who’s interested can check it out at their own pace. I have so much fun making music and feel proud when I have a cohesive finished product at the end. I’m not interested in becoming a virtuoso musician or a professional producer. A lot of trained musicians gatekeep, intimidate, and discourage amateurs. People mystify and mythologize the creative process as if it’s the product of some elusive, innate genius rather than practice, experimentation, and a simple love of music. As someone who’s work exists entirely as digital recordings, there’s no inherent reason for me to be an amazing guitar player who can play a song perfectly all the way through, as mistakes can be easily cut out and re-recorded.

Nina Hagen, Holy Mother of Punk « Juha https://juhamusic.wordpress.com/2011/02/21/nina-hagen-mother-of-punk/ Juha "I'm no spring chicken, now I'm full-grown cock." « pUKE Music! They Came, They pUKEd, They Conquered » Nina Hagen, Holy Mother of Punk Punk Planet is always gonna be on my list of favorite magazines; it broke barriers, it refused to bow to either mainstream trends or more-anarcho-punk-than-thou scene snobbery, and tackled global human rights issues with frank and genuine depth while remaining cool and funny. But when they botched my interview with Nina Hagen, they did it spectacularly. “Remember the singer of ‘99 Luftballons’? Well, she’s back….” they wrote, replacing the intro I’d written (that in retrospect I can see was kinda lengthy). The thing is, Nina Hagen doesn’t sing “99 Luftballons” or its hit translation, “99 Red Balloons.” That was Nena, a pop/new wave artist – though also from Germany (and ironically born in the town of Hagen, but Punk Planet didn’t know that). Granted, Nina and Nena are similar-sounding names. Punk Planet immediately gave a great apology in print after a slew of folks wrote in to complain about the error (“We’ve written it on the chalkboard 100 times, we swear!”) Still, my name was on the article in an edition that reached thousands, so I wasn’t too anxious to face Nina afterwards. This interview – reprinted here as it was originally intended – was conducted in 2004. Since then, Nina’s Mother of Punk clothing line has folded, she’s converted to Christianity, released a devotional album called Personal Jesus (- featuring “All You Fascists Bound To Lose,” it’s her second devotional album; the first, Om Namah Shivay, was a collection of Hindu chants) – and manages to be as much a live wire as ever.

  • Nina Hagen: «Wenn Ihr Wollt, Wasch' Ich Euch Die Füße»

MATHEW BLATCHFORD Town Cape Thesis presentedof for the Degree of DOCTOR OF PHILOSOPHY in the Department of English UNIVERSITYUniversity OF CAPE TOWN January 2005 2 Abstract. This thesis studies William Gibson's "cyberspace trilogy" (Neuromancer, Count Zero and Mona Lisa Overdrive). This was an extremely interesting and significant development in 1980s science fiction. It was used to codifY and promote the "cyberpunk" movement in science fiction at that time, which this thesis also briefly studies. Such a study (at such a relatively late date, given the rapid pace of change in popular culture) seems valuable because a great deal of self-serving and mystifYing comment and analysis has served to confuse critical understanding about this movement. It seems clear that cyberpunk was indeed a new development in science fiction (like other developments earlier in the twentieth century) but that the roots of this development were broader than the genre itself. However, much of the real novelty of Gibson's work is only evident through close analysis of the texts and how their apparent ideological message shifts focus with time.
