RADPAC enjoyed another record-breaking year in 2011 as a result of these contributions. In fact, RADPAC raised more hard money and had more contributors in 2011 than in any previous year in RADPAC’s history. The spectrum of RADPAC activities, from direct campaign contributions, to imaging policy discussions at fund raisers, to hands-on education of Members of Congress at radiologists’ practice sites, provides the ability for our specialty to directly and effectively advocate our important issues. It is those Members of Congress who create the legislation and policies so vital to the success and preservation of our specialty and to the continued well-being of our patients. This would not be possible without the thousands of generous contributions to RADPAC from responsible, concerned radiologists. I am particularly grateful to those 86 groups that have achieved 100 percent participation of their members. Thank you all. Administration of Barack H. Obama, 2009 Remarks at the Radio and Television Correspondents Association Dinner June 19, 2009 The President. Thanks to all of you. Thank you. Please, everybody, have a seat. Before I get started, as the father of two girls, can I just say how incredibly impressive those three young ladies were. Dad would be proud. To Heather and all the others who have made this evening possible, thank you so much. It is wonderful to be here. I want to express my appreciation for the opportunity to tell jokes that weren't funny enough for me to use when we did this 5 weeks ago. [Laughter] Whatever. [Laughter] The jokes may not be as good, but neither is the guest list. [Laughter] I'm just joking. For me, there's no contest. Why bother hanging out with celebrities when I can spend time with the people who made me one? [Laughter] I know where my bread is buttered. Plus, we have our own luminaries here in attendance. The junior Senator from Wyoming, John Barrasso, is here. [At this point, Press Secretary Robert Gibbs came to the podium and whispered in the President's ear.] I'm sorry, John Barasso skipped this evening. [Laughter] Let me tell you, though, for those who haven't met him, John Barrasso is the George Clooney of junior Senators from Wyoming. [Laughter] It is great to be here with so much talent from the world of TV and radio. Despite the flood of new media, I think your programming is more relevant than ever before.

  • Congressional Letters to CMS on Cuts to Radiation Therapy Centers
Congressional Letters to CMS on Cuts to Radiation Therapy Centers This newsletter previously reported on bipartisan letters circulating in the House and Senate objecting to the 19% cut to radiation therapy centers contained in the CY 2013 Physician Fee Schedule (PFS) Proposed Rule. Those letters were led by Energy and Commerce Health Subcommittee Chair Joe Pitts (R-PA) and Energy and Commerce Subcommittee Ranking Member Frank Pallone (D-NJ) in the House and Senate Finance Committee Members Debbie Stabenow (D-MI) and Richard Burr (R -NC) in the Senate. The letters took issue with the magnitude of the cuts to radiation therapy and urged CMS to update all of the inputs to radiation oncology codes under review by the agency, rather than updating only a single input as the agency has done in the Proposed Rule. On September 14, the letters closed with signatures from 104 Representatives and OCTOBER 2012 28 Senators. Both letters have bipartisan support. A list of Members who signed the letters is provided below. By the closing date for sign-on, 1,764 constituent letters and 93 constituent calls were recorded as transmitted to the Congress through the RTA's online portal.
