The team is coming off a Sports Emmy win for Technical Team Remote for the 2018 season. With two weeks on-site, and the some of the best technical facilities and minds in the business, Daytona Speedweeks has always been an incubator for technology used throughout the NASCAR season, and shared with other FOX Sports broadcasts. With a team topping 300, and 12 Outside Broadcast Mobile Units (seven technical units; five support units), FOX Sports approaches the “Great American Race” with respect and enthusiasm. For FOX Sports Lab, a designed approach to exploring technical partnerships that give viewers a fresh perspective and ad sales teams more targeted sports integrations, technology is not used for its own sake - each effort is carefully vetted to enhance the storytelling abilities of the award- winning team. Highlights for the FOX NASCAR broadcast of the 2019 Daytona 500 include: High Speed Rail Cam FOX Sports and Mega Trax will construct about 1,000 feet of rail behind the inside wall of Turn 2 at Daytona International Speedway. With near-silent operation and technology gleaned from high-end cinema, the FOX Sports Rail Cam accelerates from 0-to-60 mph in about three seconds, topping out at speeds in excess of 90 mph. Used previously at Fontana and Charlotte, this marks the first time it is used at the Daytona 500. Body Jib Traditional extended-arm cameras allow for sweeping beauty shots integrated into sports television production. This new body jib, being used for the first time at the Daytona 500, allows 8 the operator to wear an extended arm with a stabilized camera at the end to provide unique shots inside the pits and over the wall. Enhanced Data Analytics Touchscreen A new touchscreen in the FOX NASCAR booth provides analysts the ability to break down data in ways never seen in NASCAR. Using loop data that NASCAR captures at multiple points on a track, FOX NASCAR analysts will be able to dissect and compare where on the track each driver is making up or losing positions. This new breakdown of loop data in a touchscreen format provides the FOX NASCAR production team the quickest path to telling the most accurate stories in near-real time. Virtual Studio Announced in October, the Charlotte-based state-of-the-art Virtual Studio is an ultra-customizable 60’ x 60’ facility allowing for instant 3D analysis of racetracks, cars, race shops and more, with the ability to create unique and changeable spaces within the high-tech studio environment in a matter of hours.

NASCAR Sponsorship: Who is the Real Winner? An event study proposal A thesis submitted to the Miami University Honors Program in partial fulfillment of the requirements for University Honors with Distinction by Meredith Seurkamp May 2006 Oxford, Ohio ii ABSTRACT NASCAR Sponsorship: Who is the Real Winner? An event study proposal by Meredith Seurkamp This paper investigates the costs and benefits of NASCAR sponsorship. Sports sponsorship is increasing in popularity as marketers attempt to build more personal relationships with their consumers. These sponsorships range from athlete endorsements to the sponsorship of an event or physical venue. These types of sponsorships have a number of costs and benefits, as reviewed in this paper, and the individual firm must use its discretion whether sports sponsorship coincides with its marketing goals. NASCAR, a sport that has experienced a recent boom in popularity, is one of the most lucrative sponsorship venues in professional sports. NASCAR, which began as a single race in 1936, now claims seventy-five million fans and over one hundred FORTUNE 500 companies as sponsors. NASCAR offers a wide variety of sponsorship opportunities, such as driver sponsorship, event sponsorship, track signage, and a number of other options. This paper investigates the fan base at which these marketing messages are directed. Research of NASCAR fans indicates that these fans are typically more brand loyal than the average consumer. NASCAR fans exhibit particular loyalty to NASCAR sponsors that financially support the auto racing sport. The paper further explains who composes the NASCAR fan base and how NASCAR looks to expand into additional markets.
