Once you have submitted your complaint:

• You will receive a confirmation of your e-mail within 12 hours; • We will contact you as soon as possible about your complaint and apprise you of possible solutions; • Your complaint will be registered and monitored at the Centre for Development Innovation.

Financial affairs

The monetary unit that is used in the Netherlands is the Euro. In case you decide to bring a substantial amount of Euros in cash with you, or if you intend to exchange foreign currency into Euros after your arrival in the Netherlands, you are advised to ask for banknotes of €50 or less. Banknotes of higher denominations (€100, €200 or €500) are not accepted in shops, restaurants, post-offices etc., and not even by most banks. This is due to the fact that these larger denominations carry a higher risk of being forgeries.

Please be aware that there are only a few offices where you can exchange your own currency into Euros. The most common method of obtaining cash in the Netherlands, is using cash dispensers/ATM’s. In most shops you can use your debit card to pay. When you still want to exchange your own currency into Euros we advise you to do this at the Airport at arrival, as there are no money exchange offices in or near Wageningen. If you do need to exchange money during your stay in Wageningen the railway stations of , , or are the nearest places where you can do so.

Please note that the Centre for Development Innovation, the hotel and banks in the Netherlands will not exchange foreign currencies such as dollars, pounds etc.

Cash dispensers / ATMs: You will find an ATM or cash dispenser at every bank, post office, and at railway stations and in other public places. Cash dispensers will accept almost every kind of card. If one of the symbols displayed on the cash dispenser (Maestro, Visa, American Express etc.) matches the one on your card, it will work. If a cash dispenser is not working, it will say ‘buiten dienst’ on the screen. If you type the wrong pin-code three times, the machine will swallow your card. When this happens please contact the bank, the phone number will be displayed on the cash dispenser. Cash dispensers/ATM’s can be used 24/7.

For Cash Dispensers/ATM’s in Wageningen please click here.

Opening hours banks: If you have trouble with your debit card, you can visit a bank and ask for assistance. The opening hours of most banks are Monday through Friday, from 09:00 to 17:00 and for a few hours on Saturday mornings. You can find the exact opening hours posted near the entrance of the bank.
