The 1970 Chevelle SS is one of the icons of the muscle-car era, due in no small part to the 454 cu.-in. Big-Block engine under the hood. The rare LS6 version made 450 horsepower and 500 lb.-ft. of torque, making it one of the kings of the scene. At this year’s Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction in Scottsdale, Arizona, one of the LS6 Chevelles sold for $330,000. The Fathom Blue vehicle received a two-year, frame-off restoration and many of the parts are original. That includes the original LS6 454 and rear axle, which were certified by Chevelle expert Jerry MacNeish. This week, we’ve made the Chevelle on the auction block into a Wallpaper Wednesday download.
