MARTA KACZMAREK Marta has recently toured a self devised one woman show in Polish entitled Roza. Her stage work is always welcomed with strong reviews, including her recent work in The Honey Bees for Red Stitch, Therese Raquin for Theatreworks and fortyfivedownstairs’ production of Cafe Scheherazade for which she won a Green Room Award for Best Actress in Independent Theatre. Marta's TV credits include Mr. & Mrs. Murder, The Doctor Blake Mysteries, Underbelly, Offspring, Rush, Trip for Biscuits, recurring roles on Rake and Wentworth and main cast in The Circuit for SBS. In 2015 as a cast member of Rake, Marta received the Equity Award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series. Film work includes Scott Hick's award winning feature Shine opposite Geoffrey Rush, The Wedding Party and Last Dance. Marta Kaczmarek graduated from the Ludwik Solski Academy for the Dramatic Arts in Krakow, Poland. Her stage debut as Natasha in Dostoyevsky’s War and Peace has been followed by stage roles such as Aglaya in Idiot, Viola in Twelfth Night, Estragon in Waiting for Godot and Vinnie in Happy Days. For 25 years Marta lived in Perth where she co-founded the iconic Theatre Zart and her book of poems, ‘Ziemia Przybrana (Adopted Earth)’, was published. Marta was a vocalist and a founder of an acoustic band Barbakan, performing her original songs at local venues, TV and at the Perth International Arts Festival. Following her daughter, Marta has made Melbourne home, directing community projects and Mrozek’s ‘Serenade’ for the Melbourne International Comedy Festival. She has been closely involved in a cultural life of the Polish Community in Australia and was awarded a Knight’s Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta by the Polish Government for her longstanding efforts in the cultivation of Polish culture in Australia (2004).
