  • Seaworld Entertainment’S New President and Chief Executive OCer
® To Our Shareholders It is an honor to write my first shareholder letter as SeaWorld Entertainment’s new President and Chief Executive Ocer. I have worked in the theme park business for nearly 20 years, so I know how great this Company is, and it is a privilege to lead this team. We operate some of the industry’s best theme parks. Our operations, animal care and guest service are world-class. And, just as they have for more than 50 years, millions of guests continue to visit our parks every year, not only to have fun, but to learn about and connect with our animals and the natural world we share. My job now is to build on that foundation while consistently improving and innovating in a competitive environment. I look forward to leading our outstanding team as we build on our strategy and position the Company for the future. Clearly, 2014 did not meet our expectations and was not without its challenges. Despite these head- winds, I know that our entire team continues to focus on creating personal, educational and memorable experiences that appeal to our guests. In 2014, we paid more than $72 million in dividends and repurchased $66 million of our own stock. In fact, since the initial public oering two years ago, SeaWorld Entertainment, Inc. has delivered more than $200 million in value to our shareholders through dividends and share repurchases. Furthermore, under our current Board authorization, we have $235 million available for future share repurchases. In the fourth quarter, we saw early signs of progress with a sequential improvement in attendance trends from the previous quarter.

  • 2015 Annual Report
2015 ANNUAL REPORT April 29, 2016 To Our Shareholders, Over the past year, your Board of Directors and management have driven important changes at SeaWorld Entertainment. Our fundamental mission remains the same – to provide experiences that matter and inspire guests to protect animals and the wild wonders of the world. We recognized, however, that we must evolve how we pursue that mission along with the expectations of our guests, current and future. After I became CEO last April, we conducted a careful and thorough analysis of our business which was used as a starting point to develop the plan we shared with you in November. With the foundational work complete, we are now in a position to execute on the strategy we shared. Our primary objective is to improve operational excellence and deliver the consistent and sustainable financial performance you expect from our company. We are evolving the SeaWorld brand to deliver experiences that matter. Research tells us this is a priority for young families, particularly millennials. We are making a range of changes over time so that guests who visit us find opportunities to enjoy family time and pure fun, while also learning how to make the world a better place for animals and their habitats. In March of this year, we took a bold and decisive step in this direction. We committed to stop breeding orcas in our care and to transition our orca theatrical shows toward more natural and educational encounters. We also announced a partnership with the Humane Society of the United States to launch a series of initiatives to protect and preserve marine wildlife and their habitats.

  • Brevard Animal Rescue to Air on ABC Series' Premiere
news.brevardtimes.com Brevard Animal Rescue To Air On ABC Series' Premiere 4-4 minutes MELBOURNE, Florida -- The rescue of a sub-adult loggerhead sea turtle last year by Melbourne Police and Brevard County Sheriff’s Deputies will air this weekend on the ABC season premiere episode of Sea Rescue with Sam Champion. Sea Rescue tells the stories of marine animal rescue, rehabilitation and release by the SeaWorld rescue team and its partners. The popular show has been seen by more than 86 million viewers in its first two seasons. During the rescue, the Brevard County Sheriff’s Aviation Unit responded to a call of a possible body in the Indian River Lagoon. The Aviation Unit determined it was not a swimmer that needed help - but a large sea turtle. The Melbourne Police Marine Unit was then called upon to help aid the turtle. Melbourne Police Officers Kevin Palmeri and Amy Perez, along with Sgt. Byron Keck of the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office, took the Melbourne Police boat north of the Eau Gallie Causeway to the location of the turtle. Once located, officers noticed that the turtle was bobbing in the water and having a difficult time submerging itself. Law enforcement contacted the Sea Turtle Preservation Society about the turtle and the Society informed the officers that the turtle needed medical attention because it could die if it was not rescued. The three officers then pulled the 160 pound loggerhead turtle up onto the boat and brought it to shore. The turtle was transported to SeaWorld Orlando’s Animal Rescue for care and rehabilitation.
