Ratio 84/95 (0.9) Quinnipiac is coming off a 68-66 win over UMass on Wednesday to improve to 2-5 on the season. The Bobcats have picked up their two wins this season by a combined three points, defeating Dartmouth by one, 78-77, in the other victory. The visitors were balanced offensively across the board on Wednesday, receiving 14 points from Isaiah Washington, 12 from Chaise Daniels and 11 each from Cameron Young and Andrew Robinson.

Daniels and Young have been consistent scorers for the Bobcats, averaging 15.4 and 14.1 points per game, respectively. Rich Kelly, Washington and Robinson round out the key contributors to the offense at 9.9, 9.3 and 8.3 points per night, respectively. The contest at Lafayette on Saturday will be the first of five straight for Quinnipiac, culminating in the start of MAAC play against Monmouth on Dec. 28 at the TD Bank Center.

UNFAMILIAR MATCHUP Lafayette and Quinnipiac square off in the first-ever meeting between the two programs on Saturday. The Bobcats are one of two brand-new teams on the Leopards’ schedule this winter, having lost to George Mason in their first-ever matchup in the season opener on Nov. 10 in Fairfax, Va.

DIAPER DANDIES Lafayette’s freshman scoring record, set by Otis Ellis on Jan. 18, 1985, who scored 27 points in a 101-77 win over Delaware, looks to be in jeopardy this season as both Alex Petrie and Justin Jaworski have come within a bucket of that mark through the season’s first six games. Petrie poured in 25 points against Saint Peter’s on a sizzling 7-of-10 shooting from three-point range, while Jaworski led the team with 24 points on 9-of-14 from the floor in the 68-67 loss to Drexel on Wednesday. Petrie’s 25-point effort was the most for a Lafayette player in the Patriot League era (since the 1990-91 season).

The duo sit second and third on the team in scoring behind senior Matt Klinewski’s 18.2 points per contest. Jaworski averages 12.8 points per night after Wednesday’s outburst, while Petrie is nipping at his heels at 12.7 points per game, doing his damage from beyond the arc with a 46.2 percent clip from distance (18-for-39).

KLINEWSKI FOR THREE? Matt Klinewski, entering the season with just four career three-point field-goal attempts, has gone 15-for-23 from three-point range to start the season as the second-ranked three-point shooter in the nation at 65.2 percent. The senior, who for much of his career has displayed an excellent touch in mid-range to go along with his prowess on the , has expanded to beyond the three-point line this season, providing another weapon in an already-potent outside shooting attack for the Maroon and White.

MANNING THE BENCH Lafayette’s Fran O’Hanlon has posted 303 wins in his career in his 23rd season on the sideline for the Leopards, while Quinnipiac’s Baker Dunleavy is in his first season with the Bobcats after serving as an assistant coach at Villanova for seven seasons, O’Hanlon’s alma mater as a member of the Class of 1970.

SAME OLD SAME OLD Klinewski, who led the Leopards in scoring as a junior at 16.0 points per game, good enough for second in the Patriot League rankings, has picked up right where he left off to open 2017-18, averaging 18.2 points per night through six games this year. Klinewski posted his fourth 30-point game in less than a year, going 8-of-10 from the field, 4-of-5 from three-point range and 10-of-12 from the foul 2017-18 Quick Facts line for 30 points against Saint Peter’s on Sunday. Maddon helped the Cubs break their 108-year World Series drought in 2016 when he led the team to the title over the Cleveland Indians in a Game 7 for the ages.

Maddon played quarterback for the Leopards during his days on College Hill, completing 14-of-17 passes for four touchdowns in the 1972 freshman Lafayette-Lehigh tilt. Additionally, he was a catcher on the Lafayette baseball team, eventually causing him to give up football to focus on baseball following his freshman season.

The Leopards went range on the night. It also marked the second straight game that a Leopard freshman has recorded at 25-for-44 from the floor (56.8%) and 14-of-26 from beyond the arc (53.8%), while missing just two of least 24 points with classmate Alex Petrie netting 25 against Saint Peter’s. their 20 free-throw attempts. A three from by Klinewski at the 9:27 mark. Tramaine Isabell answered with a three of his own on the following trip, Klinewski, followed by a pretty spin move on the block from junior Paulius Zalys put the Leopards in though, and Lafayette’s edge was cut to three at 17-14 with 7:20 to play in the half. front by a 53-51 score with 14:05 to play.
