1. Casino Beach. Located beneath the famous “beach ball,” this is the place to see and be seen. Named for a Island Cross 1940s-era casino, the beach is now home to the fishing pier and Gulfside Pavilion, a venue for free concerts. 2. Fort Pickens, Gulf Islands National Seashore. About 10 miles west of Casino Beach is Fort Pickens, a massive brick fortress held by Union forces throughout the Civil War. National Park rangers lead free tours with $8 park admission.
