Entertainment Tonight, The Millers, CSI: Cyber, The Odd Couple, The Exes, Big Brother, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Parks and Recreation, Melissa & Joey and Reckless ---just a few of the shows participating in the ALS Bucket Challenge.

Why are so many people, including our own talent here on the CBS Studio Center lot, dumping buckets of ice water on their heads?! It is not some new health fad but rather a quest to raise awareness for Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), the lethal neurodegenerative disorder also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease. When you accept the ice bucket challenge, you pledge to either donate $100 to ALS or dump ice water on your head. Most people seem to be opting to both donate and get soaked, posting the videos and photos on social media. According to Forbes. com, the ALS Association has stated that they have raised over $100 million as a result of the challenge, a 3,500% increase from the $2.8 million that the ALS Association raised during the same time period last year with more than 3 million people donating. n n n
