Bill Edger caught seven passes for 124 yards and two touchdowns, to lead UMass quarterback Kyle Havens completed 25 of 38 passes for 293 yards Holy Cross to a 38-7 victory over Howard at Fitton Field. Ryan Taggart and two touchdowns, to lead the 18th-ranked Minutemen to a 31-7 victory also played well in the fi rst start of his collegiate career, hitting on 17 of 29 over Holy Cross at Warren P. McGuirk . UMass opened pass attempts for 186 yards and three touchdowns. Holy Cross began the the scoring at the 5:20-mark of the fi rst quarter on a 19-yard touchdown scoring at the 10:30-mark of the fi rst quarter, when Taggart threw an 11-yard pass from Havens to Dan Sheeran. The Minutemen increased their lead to touchdown pass to Luke Chmielinski. The score remained at 7-0 until late 14-0 later in the quarter on a one-yard scoring run by John Griffi n. UMass in the second quarter, when Alex Johnson intercepted a pass and returned would then recover an onside kick, followed by a Jonathan Hernandez it to the Howard 21-yard line.
