February 26, 2021 Amazon Warehouse Workers In
February 26, 2021 Amazon warehouse workers in Bessemer, Alabama are voting to form a union with the Retail, Wholesale and Department Store Union (RWDSU). We are the writers of feature films and television series. All of our work is done under union contracts whether it appears on Amazon Prime, a different streaming service, or a television network. Unions protect workers with essential rights and benefits. Most importantly, a union gives employees a seat at the table to negotiate fair pay, scheduling and more workplace policies. Deadline Amazon accepts unions for entertainment workers, and we believe warehouse workers deserve the same respect in the workplace. We strongly urge all Amazon warehouse workers in Bessemer to VOTE UNION YES. Black Women in Primetime Soap Opera: Examining Representation Within Genre Television
Black Women in Primetime Soap Opera: Examining Representation within Genre Television by Courtney Suggs A Thesis Submitted in Partial Fulfillment of Requirements for the Degree of Master of Science in Media Studies Middle Tennessee State University December 2019 Dissertation Committee: Dr. Katie Foss, Chair Dr. Sanjay Asthana Dr. Sally Ann Cruikshank ABSTRACT Using textual genre analysis, this research studied representation in primetime soap operas Scandal, How To Get Away with Murder, and Empire. Two hundred and eighty- three episodes were viewed to understand how black female identity is represented in primetime soap and how genre influences those representation. Using Collins (2009) theory of controlling images, this study found that black female protagonists were depicted as jezebels and matriarchs. The welfare mother stereotype was updated by portrayals of black woman as hard working. Soap opera conventions such as heavy talk helped provide context to stereotypical portrayals while conventions such as melodrama lead to reactive characterization. ii TABLE OF CONTENTS CHAPTER I: INTRODUCTION……………………………………………….….....1 Background……………………………………………………...………........3 CHAPTER II: LITERATURE REVIEW.....................................................................9 Black Women in Scripted Television…...........................................................9 Television Effects on Viewers……………………………………………....14 CHAPTER III: THEORETICAL FRAMEWORK………………………………....18 Representation Theory……………………………………………………...18 Genre Theory……………………………………………………………….19 -

Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood Cast
Daniel tiger's neighborhood cast Continue More than 10 years ago, I spoke with Kevin Morrison, Chief Operating Officer of Fred Rogers Prod. at the time, about the continuation of Fred Rogers' legacy. As many of you know, Daniel Tiger's neighborhood stems from this conversation. Today the show is shared by millions of children around the world. I had a conversation in 2013 with Jake Beale, who played Daniel's original voice in the Daniel Tiger area (now Keegan Headley). Part of what makes the show so rich and the heart felt is the voices that bring our character to life in sharing Fred's message. Here's one of those amazing voices from the archives. I hope you enjoy it! Hey, Jake. You play a preschool tiger named Daniel, but how old are you. Really? I'm 11. And you have a teensy bit of accent, where do you come from? I'm from Toronto, Canada. How do you look like Daniel Tiger? Are your personalities similar? I like to learn about new things and teach other new things. We're both funny, and we both love to sing. I love singing in the shower and annoying my two older sisters. If you had to choose one favorite episode, what would it be? Good morning, Daniel. I love that one too. And not just because I wrote it! And you sing so beautifully in this episode! If Daniel Tiger can do something or go somewhere in the next episode, what would you like it to be? Jamaica! Because I love swimming and I love the beach. -
