Some nnteresting records collected from 1990 to 1999 are reported. First records of Holocnemus oluchei for Rheinland-Pfalz and Baden-Württemberg and of Uloborus plumipes for Hessen and Schleswig-Holstein are listed. The occurrence of Heteropoda venatoria in Germany is confirmed by recent records in warmhouses in Berlin. Pardosa saturatior is collected from the Bavarian part of the Alps (National Park Berchtesgaden). Information on biology and laxonomy of Pardosa saturatior, Holocnemus pluchei and Heteropoda venatoria are given.

  • In Phylogenetic Reconstruction, PAUP
The pitfalls of exaggeration: molecular and morphological evidence suggests Kaliana is a synonym of Mesabolivar (Araneae: Pholcidae) JONAS J. ASTRIN1, BERNHARD MISOF & BERNHARD A. HUBER2 Zoologisches Forschungsmuseum Alexander Koenig, Adenauerallee 160, D-53113 Bonn, Germany. Corresponding author. E-mail: [email protected]; [email protected] Abstract When the Venezuelan genus Kaliana Huber, 2000 was described, it was based on a single male specimen that was mor- phologically unique among pholcid spiders, especially in its extremely exaggerated male genitalia. The morphology of the recently discovered female suggests a close relationship with Mesabolivar González-Sponga, 1998. Using molecular sequences (mitochondrial CO1, 16S, and nuclear 28S) of Kaliana yuruani Huber, 2000 and 53 other pholcid taxa (152 sequences, 19 of them sequenced in this study) in a Bayesian and a maximum parsimony approach, we show that Kaliana is not sister group of, but nested within the species-rich South American genus Mesabolivar. Therefore, we argue that Kaliana is a junior synonym of Mesabolivar (Mesabolivar yuruani, n. comb.). Complementing previous stud- ies on pholcid phylogeny, we also present evidence for a close relationship between Mesabolivar and Carapoia, support the synonymy of Anomalaia and Metagonia with molecular data, support the monophyly of 'ninetines' and question the recently postulated position of Priscula as nested within the New World clade. Key words: pholcid spiders, subfamily-level groups, Metagonia, Carapoia, Priscula, beta-taxonomy, phylogeny Introduction There seems to be a tendency for taxonomists to create new genera for highly ‗aberrant‘ species. For example, when the first spider species with directionally asymmetric male genitalia was discovered, a new genus was erected for it (Anomalaia González-Sponga, 1998).

  • Biospeleologia De Les Cavitats De Les Illes Balears: Invertebrats Terrestres
ENDINS, 35 / Mon. Soc. Hist. Nat. Balears, 17: 241-256 ISSN 0211-2515. Mallorca, 2011 BIOSPELEOLOGIA DE LES CAVITATS DE LES ILLES BALEARS: INVERTEBRATS TERRESTRES per Guillem X. PONS 1 i Mateo VADELL 2 Abstract In the caves of the Balearic Islands over 300 species of invertebrates (including terrestrial and aquatic species) are known until today. Of these, approximately 50 can be considered genuinely troglobiontic species. Over half of these are endemic species unique to the Islands, a percentage large enough in evolutionary terms to give an idea of its great heritage value and interest in its preservation. The cave organisms constitute a very important part of the catalog of endemic fauna in the Balearic Islands. Since Racovitza described Typhlocirolana moraguesi in 1905, the first step in the new science of biospeleology, have been many scientists who have penetrated to the caves in search of new and enigmatic species. The Balearics were also the birthplace of the discipline with the interest and constant presence of local researchers in national and international scientific publications. Since 1905 there have been many papers published on the ongoing findings of cave species. For the preparation of this article have been selected terrestrial cave species that are new to the catalogs of taxa published since 1995 (publication date of the monograph Endins 20) or those species that are important regarding biogeography, particularly the endemisms.

(Dipluridae) fram Baltic amber are reported. The first fossil member of the family Micro- stigmatidae: Parvomygale n. gen., Parvomygale distineta n. sp. (Parvomygalinae n. subfarn.) in Dominican amber is described. - The taxon Micramygalinae PLATNICK & FORSTER 1982 is raised to family rank, revised diagnoses of the families Micromyga- lidae (no fossil record) and Micrastigmatidae are given. This spider is a member of the family Dipluridae (Funnelweb Mygalomorphs) and is redescribed in this paper; only juveniles are known. Two further species of Mygalomorpha are described from this kind of amber, these are members of the family Ctenizidae (Trapdoor spiders). - Fossil members of the Mygalo- morphae in Dominican amber were described by WUNDERLICH (1988).

Huber, Jonathan Neumann, Arno Grabolle & Vladimír Hula doi: 10.5431/aramit5303 Abstract. The pholcid spiders Modisimus culicinus (Simon, 1893) and Micropholcus fauroti (Simon, 1887) are pantropical species that have spread around the world at least several decades ago. Here we present numerous new records for both species, most of which fall into the expected latitudes, i.e. between the Tropics of Cancer and Capricorn (93 % and 87 % of records respectively). However, we also report the first records for M. culicinus from Central Europe (Germany and Czech Republic, >50°N) and the first European record for M. fauroti from outside of Belgium (Germany). The fact that in both species several specimens have been found at more than one locality suggests that they may already be in the stage of establishment and spreading in Europe. Finally, we present an updated identification key to the genera of Pholcidae in Europe. Key words: alien, harmless, invasive, pantropical, synanthropic Zusammenfassung.
