BETA-GAMMA CHAPTER IS… The oldest and most established Fraternity on the Campus of Eastern Illinois University. Founded as Chi Rho local fraternity in 1947. Charted with Sigma Pi Fraternity on June 10, 1949. Celebrating 70 consecutive years of Brotherhood; Two distinguished Beta-Gamma alumni have been elected Grand Sage (national president) of Sigma Pi Fraternity International. Brothers Eli R. Sidwell, Jr. (Charleston, IL) and Edward R. McClane (Chicago, IL). Richard Barnard served as Grand Counselor 1970- 74; Brother D. Dean Crook (Indianapolis) held the position of Sigma Pi Executive Director at two separate times. He has been recognized as an Honorary Grand Sage; Beta-Gamma has called 956 Sixth Street home since June 1, 1954. The oldest maintained Chapter House affiliated with Eastern. Alumni investing this year over $750,000 to the restoration of the home built in 1890. With a Housemother and Cook, 22 Brothers will reside in the Chapter House next year; Residents of the Chapter House have daily meal service. Room and Board fees are estimated at $3000.00 a semester. Paul Hoffman Vice President Human Resources Hunt Consolidated (Dallas) has been named the 2018 EIU Distinguished Alumnus; Jay D. Gatrell, PhD EIU Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs serves Beta- Gamma Chapter as its Faculty Advisor. Brother Blake Miller is interning at the EIU Admissions Offices. He is giving of his time to serve as the assistant Chapter Director; Three Brothers have received the Fraternity’s Founder Award (highest individual recognition in the Fraternity) – John T. Myers, Eli R. Sidwell, Jr., and Richard Barnard; Awards and Recognitions can be compared to no other. Four-time recipient of the Fraternity’s Grand Sages Award (#1 Chapter in the country); most wins of the University’s Over-all Intramural Sports Award. All-time leader of any campus organization to be awarded Homecoming Float winner. Fraternity with the most wins ever in Greek Week competitions; The Central Illinois Alumni Association of Sigma Pi – Beta-Gamma maintains the Alumni House next to the Chapter House. It is a one of a kind facility in Eastern’s Greek community. Serves as a meeting and social facility for the undergraduate and alumni members of the chapter. It is supported by dues revenue. In addition, each initiate of the chapter is requested to make a $500.00 donation to the chapter within five years after graduation from Eastern. This contribution is less than annual undergraduate dues for the same period; Brother Braden Davis is an NCAA athlete playing on the EIU Tennis Team. Brothers Tony Romo and Jeff Gossett were student athletes who went onto having great careers in the NFL; Martin Morgan while serving as the CIAA President he serves on Eastern’s Alumni Association as the treasurer. Jeff Knezovich and Paul Hoffman are past president of the association. Joe Dively has served as Chairman and Board Member on the EIU Board of Trustees; Nearly 2300 men have been initiated into the Sigma Pi Brotherhood. Second largest in Sigma Pi following only Pennsylvania State’s Theta Chapter founded in 1912; Undergraduate Fees: One-time Pledge fee $150.00 (paid to national headquarters); one- time initiation fee $350.00 (paid to national headquarters); and monthly dues $45.00 a month (after initiation); Distinguished Beta-Gamma Alumnus: Roger Claar, Mayor of Bolingbrook IL; Tony Romo, NFL Quarterback and television personality, Keith Burglund, JD Principal of Burglund Group; Mike McKenna CEO of the Diamond Assets; Joseph Dively CEO of First Mid- Illinois Bank & Trust; Jeff Gossett NFL Punter; Mike Lanman President Lanman Oil Company; John T.
