INSTALLATION, SERVICE AND REPAIRS TO DRIVECAM VEHICLE MONITORING AND REPORTING SYSTEMS

Vendor to provide repairs and service to Drivecam Vehicle Monitoring Systems installed in City of Mobile vehicles.

Vendor shall be responsible to troubleshoot existing and installed Drivecam Systems that are reported to be out of service.

New installation to a vehicle as required.

The Drivecam Systems are installed on Cars, Pickup Trucks, Fire Apparatus, Ambulances, and all City Large Trucks.

Vendor is to troubleshoot systems to correct wiring issues, replace fuses, check mountings on vehicle, and remove systems as needed. Remove and replace out of service components to include: Cameras, Sensors, Transmitter, Antennas and Wiring as needed.

Vendor will only work on the Drivecam Systems and associated Wiring. Vendor will not do any other repairs or service to vehicles.

City will select a location on City property and have all vehicles brought to this location. Vendor may be working in a City building or shop.

Vendor shall provide all tools and power necessary to troubleshoot and repair the Drivecam Systems.

3 DriveCam Installation

1. Thoroughly clean and dry the glass The following steps describe installation using the Windshield Mounting Bracket_ This is the most common installation method and applies to most sedans and light vehicles with sloped windshields and standard rear view mirrors. See note below for available options.

CAUTION: This step is critical to prevent the bracket from falling off.

A) Select a location on the windshield behind the rear view mirror on the passenger side of the vehicle. B) Using the alcohol wipe provided, thoroughly clean the mounting area. C) Using a dean, dry doth, thoroughly dry the mounting area.

2. Carefully select a mounting location The VER needs to be mounted in a location that provides an unobstructed view of the interior and exterior (front) of the vehicle. Ideally, the interior-facing lens should capture a view from the outside shoulder of the driver to the outside shoulder of a front seat passenger. The exterior-facing lens should capture a clear view of everything in front of the vehicle, beginning as dose to the front of the vehicle as possible without cutting off the horizon.

CAUTION: An improperly positioned VER can significantly reduce the effectiveness of the DriveCam Program.

A) Loosen the Torx screws so the VER can rotate in the bracket B) Adjust or move the mirror down to its lowest position. C) Temporarily position the assembly (VER + bracket) behind the mirror, about one inch to the right of the post, providing access to the Torx screw and power connection.

Mounting Options: Refer to the DriveCam Mounting Guidelines (DRC 340) if you're installing in a vehicle without a standard rear view mirror. The document provides additional details and diagrams about VER mounting in various vehicle types, including instructions for using the Extended (Bulkhead) Bracket and RAM-Mount (Articulating) Bracket. Government restrictions regarding the mounting of objects on the vehicle windshield and U.S. DOT exemptions are also covered.

3. Mark the mounting location on the glass CAUTION: Do not peel the backing from the adhesive strips until the next step. A) Hold the assembly in place and trace the outline of the bracket on the windshield with a marl

Final Location Check: Before attaching the bracket in the next step, take a moment to verify that you have selected a good mounting location. Hold the assembly in place and sit in the driver's seat. Make sure the VER does not block the driver's view of the road. Rotate mirrors, sun visors, wipers, and other objects near the VER to make sure those items do not block or interfere with either lens.

4. Attach the bracket to the windshield CAUTION: The adhesive is very sticky. Once the bracket is attached, it will not easily come off. A) Make sure the glass is clean and dry and the air temperature is at least 50 F (10 C). B) Remove the backing from the adhesive side of the bracket C) Make sure the large plastic washer is on the left side of the bracket (see image below or next page). D) Start by placing the top edge of the bracket against the windshield, aligned with the marl

5. Mount the VER in the bracket A) Plug the DC3/DC3P Power Cable (14ft.) into the VER. B) Place the VER in the bracket. C) Adjust the VERso that it hangs vertically (plumb). D) Secure the VER in the bracket using the two Torx screws and Torx wrench (provided).

Washer Placement: The large plastic washer on the left side of the bracket is des1gned to partially cover the cable connector so that it cannot be unplugged.

The plastic washers can be easily removed from the metal bracket if you need to switch sides after mounting.

6. Route the HUB Interconnect Cable You may need to remove the window and door trim to route the cable underneath. These typically snap on and off using special clips. In vehicles with side and curtain airbags, these clips are often one-time use and may need to be replaced after removal. Please refer to the vehicle service manual for infonnation.

&_ WARNING: When installing the cable in a vehicle with SIDE OR CURTAIN AIRBAGS, be certain that neither the cable nor your installation activities interferes with any airbag related mechanisms or otherwise risks affecting airbag deployment.

A) Starting just above the rear view mirror, route the cable under the trim or headliner across to the door pillar. If you will be connecting the white wire from the UMOS Switch Cable to the dome light (page 11 ), you may want to route it along side the interconnect cable at this lime as well. B) Route the cable down the door pillar underneath the vertical door/window trim then out under the lower part of the dashboard to the location where the S-Port HUB will be mounted and the electrical connections will be made.

Secure the Cable: Make sure the cable is secured and cannot come loose. We recommend using cable ties every few inches along the route to secure it in place. Keep the cable clear of any sharp edges, moving parts and cannot get pinched in the door jam. Be very careful working around vehicle airbags.

6 DriveCam Installation

7. DC3/DC3P - UMOS Power & Ground Connections The black, red and brown wires are the three required connections for the VER to function. The red w ire provides primary power and must be connected to a continuous power source. The brown wire is an ignition-sense, used by the VER to activate theIR Illuminator (page 18) when the vehicle ignition is switched on. The blac k wire is ground.

A) Find a suitable location to make electrical connections (usually under the dashboard or vehicle electrical panel). B) Connect the wiring to the vehicle as described below. C) Plug the UM05 cables into the UM05 (see diagram on page 3). D) Test the connections in steps 9 and 10 before finalizing the connections.

Connecting the RED WIRE to a 12V-24V power source that Is ALWAYS ON The VER requires a power source that is not controlled by .the key nor any other device or switch. This connection is usually made just after the fuse box on the battery-side of any vehicle control modules. Use a voltmeter to make sure the circuit provides continuous 12Vor 24V power when the key is removed from the ignition and all lights, devices and switches are off. Test this connection in Step 9.

Current Draw: If you're tapping into an existing vehicle wire, make sure it can handle the additional current draw of the VER. A wire that reads 12V on a voltmeter may not necessarily be able to supply enough current to the existing circuit and the VER. The gauge of wire being tapped into provides a good indication. A larger gauge wire is often the best choice, but make sure to test it with a load.

7 DriveCam Installation

Connecting the BROWN WIRE to a 12V-24V power source that Ia IGNITION-SWITCHED

This connection senses when the ignition is switched on. This requires a power source that is ·on· only when the key is turned all the way forward to the ·on· position and when the engine is running It's very important that this is connected property. Test this connection in Step 10.

Common Error: This connection is often (mistakenly) made to a modulated circuit - one that comes out of a computer control module running some subsystem in the vehide- which can give false ignition on/off signals. To avoid this, make sure to connect this wire to a circuit that is on the battery side of any modules. Consult the vehicle wiring schematics or a local authorized dealership to obtain this information.

Extending Wires If wires need to be extended, extend the ground wire first. If you must extend the red or brown wires, keep them as short as possible. If the extended length exceeds 16 inches, place an inline ruse (1-3 Amp) between the extended wire and the power connection. The gauge of wire used for the extension must be the same gauge as the power cable wires or larger.

Fuses The red and brown wires should be fused (3 Amp) to protect the circuit. If you don't have inline fuses available, you can cut the fuses from the HUB Power Cable (since it's not used for UM05 installations) and splice them onto the end of the UM05 cables.

Electrical Wiring Connectors Due to the variety of preferred wiring methods (ring terminals. splice connectors, ruse taps, poke-n-wrap), electrical connectors are not included in the hardware kit. Refer to the vehicle service manual for information about installation and wiring of aftermarket devices. We highly recommend this installation be completed by a qualified automotive electrician.

8. Connections to the 5-Port HUB The S-Port HUB has a silicone shell that covers the ports and cable connectors, protecting them from corrosion and damage.

We recommend using the shell with all installations.

We also recommend applying dielectric grease to all cable connectors before plugging them into the HUB.

A) Remove the shell from the HUB. Refer to the connection diagram on page 3 to determine which cables plug into which ports on the HUB. B) Cut about 118 to 1/4 inch from the tip of the shell sleeve above the following ports on the HUB: • Camera Port - 0 HUB Interconnect Cable • Battery Port - • UMOS Ignition Sense Cable • UM/RT Port - UMOS Interconnect Cable The sleeve should fit tightly around each cable to ensure maximum protection from corrosion. The smaller opening, however, may make it difficult to push the cable connectors through. The silicone sleeves will stretch, but you may need to apply a lubricant (such as dielectric grease) to the connectors, allowing them to slip through more easily.

C) Press both sleeves down through the shell (invert them inside-out). D) Push the HUB Interconnect Cable, UMOS Ignition Sense Cable and UMOS Interconnect Cable through the inverted sleeves until they poke through the other side. See notes below. E) Pull both sleeves back up through the shell. F) Plug the cables to the HUB. G) Proceed to the next page to test the connections.

Note: If you're planning to install the GPS Antenna (page 16) and/or Remote Trigger (page 17), you may connect those cables into the HUB at this time as well. Repeat the steps above for the GPS and/or RT Ports on the HUB.

9. Test the RED WIRE connection (continuous power) Once the power and ground connections are made and the vehicle ignition is switched on, the status light to the right of the interior-facing lens should be lit (either a red or green light).

Note: VERs are configured for hibemaUon mode, meaning it will automatically switch off (status fights will go dati() after the vehicle ignition has been off for a certain amount of time (15 minutes -several hours). Switch on the vehicle ignition or press one of the VER buttons to "wake up• the VER from hibernation. See page 18 for more information.

A) Wait about 30 seconds after connecting power (red) and ground (black). B) Tum the key to the Ignition I Switched-On position. The status light to the left of the lens will light solid green for about 30 seconds after power is first applied and then switch OFF The status light to the right of the lens should then switch ON and stay on (see note above).

Other status light behaviors that are commonly seen: • Left light blinking green: Searching for a wireless signal. • Right light blinking red: Data transfer in progress. • Right light blinking red & green: Event recording in progress. • Both lights blinking red & green: Firmware upgrade in progress. C) These behaviors may continue for several minutes. All of them indicate that the VER is properly powered. Go to step 9.

Errors: If the status lights did not light at all, check the wiring and fuses. If you see any other status light behaviors, contact DriveCam TechniCal Support at (866) 910-0403.

10. Test the BROWN WIRE connection (ignition-switched power) Underneath the translucent cover surrounding the interior-facing lens are six small, infrared lights. These are the VER's Infrared (IR) Illuminators, providing infrared light for recording video in low light situations. These lights can only be seen when they are lit, and they are only lit when power is being sensed through the brown wire (i.e. when the engine is running or when the key is turned all the way forward to the ignition ON position).

A) Tum the key to the Ignition I Switched-On position. B) Look closely for the six red lights underneath the translucent cover. C) Tum the key to the OFF position. The six red lights should go out. D) If the test wortted as described, the brown wire has been connected properly. Go to the next page.

If the test did not work as described, try it again in a dati(er area or cup your hands around the cover; the lights can be difficult to see. Next. check the wiring and fuses . It may have been connected to a modulated circuit (page 8).

10 DriveCam Installation

UM05 Trigger Connections DriveCam's Universal Module (UM05) provides multiple input and output connections, allowing you to configure the VER to record events through a variety of additional methods (doors, switch, taxi meter, hom, alarm, lights, others). The output enables the VER to control other devices in the vehicle. The Universal Module is typically used in passenger carrying vehicles as part of DriveCam's Safety Enhancement Mode (SEM).

UM05 Switch Cable: White Wire Connections

The Primary Trigger Input (White Wire) is typically set up to monitor the vehicle's doors. The VER will then record an event each time a door is opened or closed.

Tip: In many cases, the dome light circuit is the best place to make this connection as it is usually connected to all of the vehicle's doors. Some vehicles use a common door switch circuit (connecting all doors and the dome light) while other vehicles use an individual door switch circuit (connecting each door to a controller and the controller to the dome light). Refer to the vehicle wiring schematics for information. If you can find thEi dome light circuit under the dashboard, you won't have to route the wire up to the dome light. If not, simply make the connection at the dome light (described here).

Before making the connection, you must first determine the type of bulb circuit (switched power or switched ground) and make the appropriate primary (PRI) switch settings on the UM05.

Determine the circuit type (for connections at the dome light): A) Remove the dome light cover, leaving the bulb in place. B) Tum the load OFF (close all doors to tum off the dome light). C) Measure the voltage at either of the bulb terminals. D) Set the PRI switch on the UM05 as described in this image. »

Determine where to make the connection: A) Tum the load ON (open a door to tum on the dome light). B) Measure the voltage at ~h of the bulb terminals.

One terminal voltage will remain the same as measured in step C - the other terminal voltage will have changed. The white wire must be connected to the terminal that changed voltage.

Connecting the White Wire

The best place to keep the UMOS is usually under the dashboard. This requ1res several feet of the white wire routed up the window trim (typically alongside the HUB Interconnect Cable) then under the headliner to the dome light See page 6 for information about routing wires.

A) Unscrew the dome light fixture from the ceiling to expose its wiring and provide an entry point under the headliner. B) Route white wire from the location where you will mount the UMOS (e.g. under the dashboard) to the dome light. A coat hanger can often be used to 'hook and pull' the wire under the headliner. C) Connect the white wire to the dome light. Make sure you are connecting to the correct side of the dome light circuit as measured above (i.e. the terminal that changed voltage).

,& CAUTION: You may need to remove the w indow and door trim to route the wire underneath. These typically snap on and off using special c lips. In vehicles with side and curtain alrbags, the clips are often one-time use and may need to be replaced after removal. Please refer to the vehicle service manual for information.

£ WARNING: When installing the cable In a vehicle with s ide or curtain airbags, be certain that neither the cable nor your Installation activities interferes with any airbag related mechanisms or otherwise risks affecting airbag deployment

Testing the Connection: Use the green light on the top of the UMOS to test the connection.

A) Open a vehicle door. The test light should be lit (solid green). B) Close all vehicle doors. The test light should go out (at the same time as the dome light).

UM05 Switch Cable: Orange Wire Connections

The Secondary Trigger Input (Orange Wire) can be connected to one of several different electronic devices in the vehicle (e.g. taxi meter, car alarm, hom, button or switch). The VER will then record an event each time the device is activated. In most cases, it is connected to a concealed switch that can be manually triggered by the driver in an emergency. Most standard constant state switches (toggles; push on/push off) or momentary pushbuttons may be used.

Before making the connection, you must finot determine the type of circuit (switched power or switched ground) and make the appropriate secondary (SEC) switch settings on the UM05.

Connecting the Orange Wire A) Connect the orange wire to the switch. Make sure you are connecting to the correct side of the circuit as measured above (i.e. the terminal that changed voltage).

Testing the Connection: Use the green light on the top of the UM05 to test the connection. A) Close all vehicle doono and wait about one minute. B) Tum (or press) the secondary switch "ON". The test light should light for about two seconds before going out. If you're using a momentary pushbutton (press ON I release OFF), press and hold the button for thi_s step (B) then release the button for the next step (C). · C) Tum (or press) the secondary switch "OFF". There should be no indication from the test light. • If the test worked as described, the secondary trigger input is fundioning correctly. Continue to the section below. • If the UM05 Test Light did not light when the switch was turned "ON" then the secondary (SEC) switch setting on the UM05 is incorrect Change the switch setting and repeat the test. • If the UM05 Test Light did not light at all, check the power, ground, secondary wire, and switch connections.

13 - DriveCam Installation

Using the UM05 Output Feature (Blue & Yellow Wires) - Optional The DC31DC3P Video Event Recortler (VER) has the ability to cortrol other devices within the vehicle. The VER has an output signal that will change from its normal state whenever an event is triggered. After saving that event, the output retums to its normal state. With the UM05 device, this function is greatly enhanced. The user has the ability to determine the voltage level of the output as well as whether the output's normal state is high or low. The output can provide TTL level logic signals, or it can be used to operate loads drawing up to 2 Amperes of current. These loads can be either resistive (lights) or inductive (relays or motors).

Due to the wide variety of ways that this output may be used, it is impossible to cover all potential applications. The instructions and examples contained here should be considered a general guide. Your particular application will determine the actual wiring configuration.

NOTE: Due to variety of ways the Output feature may be used, we recommend that wiring be done by a qualified automotive electrician. CAUTION: Although every effort has been made to prevent it, incorrect wiring of the Output feature may cause damage to your UM05.

General Operation The Output feature of the UM05 acts 6ke a switch. One side of this switch is permanently IR connected to the black wire (ground} of the UM05 switch cable. The other side of the switch is ·-­ comected to the blue wire. Also connected to the blue wire is a 1,800 Ohm (1 .8KC) resistor whose opposite side is comected to the yellow wire. This yellow wire needs to be wired to a voltage source if you want the voltage at the blue wire to go up when the switch is open. Figure 1 shows a block diagram of the UM05 output circuit.

If the OUT switch on the UM05 is set to NORM LO, the output switch will be closed all the time unless an event has been triggered in the VER. When an event is triggered, the output switch will open while the VER is recording and saving the event. When that is complete. the switch will close again. If the OUT switch is set to NORM HI the switch wiU wor1l in the opposite way (i.e. open normally, dosed when an event is triggered). Hshould be noted that the switch can also change states if the voHage to the VER drops below 9 Volts. When this happens the switch will behave the same as if there was an event on the VER.

If the OUT switch on the UM05 is set to NORM LO, the output switch will be closed all the time unless an event has been triggered in the VER. When an event is triggered, the output switch will open while the VER is recording and saving the event. When that is complete, the switch will close again. If the OUT switch is set to NORM HI the switch will wor1l in the opposite way (i.e. open normally, closed when an event is triggered). It should be noted that the switch can also change states if the voltage to the VER drops below 9 Volts. When this happens the switch will behave the same as if there was an event on the VER Wiring Options There are many ways the output of the UM05 can be used. The following section shows some sample applications. Your particular application will determine the actual wiring configuration. These examples should only be considered a general guide. Example 1: Triggering a secondary electronic device Generally, it is very easy to connect yoor UM05 to trigger a secondary electronic device. These types of devices typically require voltage levels but very low current The yellow wire is connected to +1 2V so that the voltage at the blue wire will go up whenever the switch opens. When the switch is dosed the voltage at the blue wire wiU be low. The yellow wire can be tied to a constant or switched voltage source. When tied to a constant voltage source there will be approximately 0.007A (7mA) af current drawn at all times. If the yellow wire is lied to a switched voHage source, the voltage at the blue wire will never go up when the switched voltage source (i.e. ignition switch) is off.

Table 1 shows the UM05's approximate output level of the blue wire for a VER during an event or during normal, non-event operation. If the GPS requires the voltage to go high to trigger it, set the UM05's OUT switch to NORM LO. If the GPS requires the voHage to go low to bigger, set the switch to NORM HI. If the GPS setting is selectable a NORM LO setting should typically be used . ..,. ,__ - ... .. --I ,_ -- _ • ... ·--+ -- _ ,_ ...... ,-- ___ ..... ~ ..... ·-- - • --J_ r- --l_ ...... __ NOTE: With the yellow (supply) wire connected to a switched voltage source and the UM05's OUT switch set to NORM HI, the blue wire will go low whenever the voltage is tumed off even though there is no event. If the electronic device requires a voltage other than the normal vehicle voltage (i.e. a +5V level) and that voltage is available at the device, simply connect the yellow wire to the voltage source.

For applications like those shown in example 1, it is important to realize that the ability to • supply current from the blue (output) Yolire to a device is fimited. How much current can be • drawn from the Yolire is dependent on the voltage necessary at the Yolire.

Figure 4 shows the relationship of voltage at the blue (output) Yolire vs. current being drawn for 12 Volts and 5 Volts at the yellow (supply) Yolire. Normally, eledronic devices Yolith signal 'I·. inputs require very little current so the voltage supplied to them by the blue Yolire Yolill be very dose to the voltage supplied to the yellow Yolire. ..

Example 2: Triggering devices that use up to 2 Amps and have a separate ground wire • There are many auxiliary devices for vehides that fit into this category. Auxiliary lights, warning buzzers, and relays are some of the possible devices. If the total current draw is Jess than 2 Amps and the- device has a separate ground Yolire (not chassis grounded) this method can be used. In this situation, the yellow supply Yolire is not used. Instead the device to be operated has ils positive Yolire connected to a + 12 Volt source and the negative Yolire is conneded to the blue Yolire as shown in figure 5.

In example 2, because we are s¥olitching the ground Yolire, operation of the device may - seem backwards .. _- -- ._...... To tum the device ON we need the UMOS s¥olitch to tum ON which Yolill make the voltage at the blue Yolire go LON. ·----.- r- -- Table 2 shows how to set the UMOS OUT - - . -- siiVitch to achieve the desired fundion at ----l_ the load.

Example 3: Triggering heavy current or chassis ground devices Example 3 is actually very much tike example 2, but the load that is operated by the UMOS is a relay.

This configuration is used if the load current of the device is greater than 2 Amps, or if the device has a chassis ground (no separate ground Yolire).

The UMOS OUT s¥olitch settings for this example, a Normally Open (NO) relay, are those shown in table 2.

If a Normally dosed (NC) relay were used the table would be reversed .

Example 4: Triggering a secondary electronic device that needs more drive current In some rare cases, the UM05 may be connected as shown in example 1, but there is not enough current supplied by the UM05 to drive the input. The drive current may be , •._._11M increased by duplicating the job of the UM05's internal supply - resistor Yolith an external one (see figure 7). If this is done, three precautions must be adhered to: First, the current through the resistor must be 2 Amps or less. For a 12 Volt elecltical system this means the resistor should be greater than 8 Ohms. To prevent other problems, the resistor value should be as high as possible and still pass the current needed for the application. Second, the resistor Yolill have to be able to handle the wattage dissipated by being conneded to ground. For that 8 Ohm resistor on a 12 Volt system the wattage rating of the resistor should be above 30 Watts.

Third, the current in this example could be high enough to cause a serious drain on the vehide battery. The 12V to the external resistor should be s¥olitched off Yolith the ignition s¥olitch, or the blue line should not be configured so that it is normally low when the ignition switch is off.

Example 5: Linking two or more VERa in series Multiple VERs can be conneded in series so that when one is triggered, all will be triggered. Contad Lytx for detailed instructions.

NOTE: Anyone attempting a type of installation like example 4 or 5 should have a thorough understanding of electrical systems and eledricity. lncorred implementation of this could damage the UM05 and/or create a fire hazard for the vehide.

GPS Antenna Installation DriveCam ·s GPS Antenna must be mounted in an area of the vehicle that receives good GPS satellite signal reception. The antenna has an attached 10 foot cable that plugs into the GPS Port on the HUB (see diagram on page 3). Make sure the mounting location allows for connection and easy routing of the cable.

The GPS Antenna is not required for event recorder modules configured with Internal GPS receivers

A) Select a location to mount the GPS Antenna (see mounting guidelines below). B) Route the GPS Cable to the 5-Port HUB, through the rubber shell (page 9) and then plug it into the GPS Port. C) Test the GPS Antenna to make sure it's in a good location and receiving a GPS signal:

The light on the antenna will blink (red) after it is plugged into the HUB and powered. It will blink slowly (about one second on and one second off} when searching for a GPS signal and then blink rapidly when a signal is found.

0) Secure the antenna and cable in place. Make sure the cable is secured out of the way and will not come loose.

GPS Antenna Mounting Guidelines • The ideal mounting location allows line-of-sight reception from the GPS satellites in orbit above. • GPS signals will not penetrate metals of any kind. Coated (tinted) windows may also block signals. • GPS signals will penetrate glass (uncoated), plastic, Styrofoam, fiberglass, wood, carpet and upholstery. • The GPS Antenna is not designed for external use - it must be mounted inside the vehicle.

On the top of the dashboard: Secure the GPS Antenna flat on the dashboard with tape, Velcro, or magnet. Tuck the GPS Cable into the gap between the dashboard and the windshield (wrap with tape for a snug fit if necessary) then route the cable across and under the dashboard for connection to the HUB. This location usually provides the best signal reception. Make sure the GPS Antenna is positioned under a clear section of the glass.

On the front of the dashboard: Use the magnet on the back of the GPS Antenna to attach it to a flat metal surface. The GPS Cable should be secured just below the antenna to keep it in place. Route the cable neatly under the dashboard for connection. Velcro or tape may also be used to secure the antenna in place.

Attached to the inside of a w indow: Use a strong adhesive tape to attach the GPS Antenna to the windshield, a side or back window, or the sunroof. The GPS Cable can be routed along the edge if the window or tucked under the trim or headliner then under the dashboard for connection. Do not place the antenna under a da111: or tinted section of the glass.

Concealed under the dashboard: The GPS Antenna can be placed under any non-metal object and still receive excellent GPS signal reception. This means you can mount the antenna directly under the dashboard, on an air vent, or under a removable plastic panel or trim piece. Make sure there are no large metal pieces between the GPS Antenna and the sky. Even small metal brackets or pipes can deteriorate the signal, depending on the size of the holes, openings, or spacing between the metal components. The upper portion of the dashboard is often an ideal place to conceal the antenna as it is usually composed only of plastic or foam. through which GPS signals can easily penetrate.

Remote Trigger Installation DriveCam's Remote Trigger enables drivers to trigger Remote Manual Event recordings through a conveniently mounted button. The button comes with a 4Yz foot cable that plugs into the RT Port on the HUB (sea d iagram on page 3). Make sure the mounting location allows for connection and easy routing of the cable.

Note: Universal Module installations do not typically use the setup below for Remote Triggers. Instead, a button or switch is connected through the UM05 Switch Cable's White or Orange input wires. Use the procedures below to install the button and connect the cable to the RT Port on the HUB if you want to record ' Remote Manual Events' instead of 'Safety Events' through the Universal Module. Contact DriveCam Technical Support for additional information.

A) Select a location to mount the button. The button is designed to be mounted in a fixed panel. It should be a location where the driver will not have to reach to press the button. Nor should it be placed where the driver may accidentally press the button. The Pushbutton Collar (see below) may be fitted over the button to help prevent accidental triggers. This is optional. B) Using the proper bit size (about 1 inch), drill a hole into the panel. The button mounting hole diameter must be between 15116- 17/16' (24- 27 mm) and the panel thickness between 1/32- 1/8' (1 -3 mm). which is about the thickness of a nickel. It can be installed in a thicker panel but the button will not snap into place. C) Route the Pushbutton Cable through the hole and connect the two wires to the tabs on the bottom of the button. It does not matter which tab the wires are connected. D) Route the other end of the cable to the S-Port HUB, through the rubber shell (page 9) and then plug it into the RT Port. E) Verify correct operation by pressing and releasing the button to trigger an event recording. The right status light on the VER should begin to flash for several seconds. If not, recheck the wiring. F) Following verification, press the button firmly into the mounting hole.

Note: If needed, a second Remote Trigger may be installed and plugged into the UMIRT Port on the HUB.

Mounting the Pushbutton Collar (optional): Adhesive tape on the bottom of the collar holds it in place. Make sure to clean the mounting surface thoroughly before attaching the adhesive collar. The tabs around the ring may be trimmed off if space is needed or to provide a better appearance. We recommend keeping at least 2 tabs on the collar.

Installation Complete Follow these steps to finish up: A) Make sure the cable is tucked safely under the trim and cannot get pinched in the door jam or any moving parts. B) Reaffirm that you have taken the appropriate safety precautions while working around vehicle airbags. C) Finalize all electrical connections. Use cable-ties to bundle and secure all wires so they don't come loose. D) Make a note of the VER serial number and the vehicle in which it is installed. Provide this to management. E) Keep the Tor:x wrench and this guide in a safe place for future use. The DriveCam VER-equipped vehicle is ready to be placed in-service with the DriveCam Program.

A) GPS~nabled VERa: Some (newer) models of the DC3/DC3P Video Event Recorder are configured with internal GPS receivers, capturing GPS data with every event recording and without the need to install the external GPS Antenna (page 10). GPS~ab l ed VERs have a model number ending in "CP", "CAP", "GP• or "GAP" printed on their label. Contact Lytx Technical Support if you're not sure which VER model you have. B) Mounting Options: There are altemate mounting options available for the VER. The Standard Windshield Mounting Bracket positioned behind the rear view mirror (as described in this guide) is the most commonly used and typically provides the best solution. However, the Extended Bracket provides a wide variety of mounting locations, particularly in larger vehicles or vehicles without a standard rear view mirror. Refer to the DriveCam Mounting Guidelines (ORC 340) document for detailed information and mounting information. C) Electrical Wiring Connectors: Due to the variety of preferred wiring methods (ring terminals, splice connedors, fuse taps, poke-o­ wrap), electrical connectors are not included in the hardware kit. D) Hibernation Mode: A feature of the VER which allows it to enter a low power state in order to conserve vehicle battery power. The VER will "hibernate" if it does not sense an ignition for a certain amount of time. Hibernation settings are chosen by the dient and range from 15 minutes after ignition cut-dfto 4, 8, 12, 18, 60 hours or never hibernate. Ali status lights will go dark during hibernation. To "wake up" aVER from hibernation, switch on the vehide ignition or press one of the buttons on the bottom of the VER. E) Infrared (IR) Illuminator: Lights the interior of the vehicle with Infrared light (invisible to the eye), enabling the VER to record clearly lit images in low light situations. This draws additional pt:J"Ner from the vehicle, which is why it switches on and off with the vehicle Ignition. The brown wire on the power cable provides this switch and must be connected to an ignition-switched pt:~~Ner source. F) Serial Number: Each VER is labeled with a unique 8-digit serial number, used to identify the VER and the vehicle in which it is installed. The serial number (SN:) is printed on a small label on the back or side, just above the bar code. Example: "SN: ER000920" G) Operating Specifications: The input voltage is 12V to 24V DC ('N min to 30V max). The operating temperature is -40 to 185 "F (-40 to 85 •c). Safety Instructions

Installation Safety Warnings Read and follow the instructions and precautions in this guide and all documents referenced in this guide when installing this device . Always refer to the vehicle manufacturer's service manual for proper installation and w iring of any aftermarket devices, including the ER-SF 1. Failure to do so may result in property damage and/or personal injury .

.. WARNING: Park the veh icle on a level surface before beginning any maintenance or install­ ation. Block the wheels to prevent the vehicle from moving. Never work under a vehicle supported only by jacks as jacks can sli p and fall over .

.. WARNING: All wires that carry electrical current to the Lytx device must be fused. Failure to do so can lead to serious personal injury and/or property damage. If any wires or cables containing fuses/fuse boxes need to be cut or otherwise shortened, always be certain to replace such fuses/fuse boxes or install new ones .

.. WARNING: Wire Protection: Take all necessary measures to protect all wire runs through a metal surface with a grommet or other device and all wire runs outside the vehicle cab with a loom. Always protect against wire fatigue and harness abrasion by properly attaching wires at closely spaced intervals, while avoiding contact with sharp edges or doing anything else that might result in exposed wires. All wires should be secured with tie wraps at least every two feet or less. Do not overtighten any tie wraps .

What's Covered in the Installation Procedures The following instructions are for installation of the Lytx ER-SF1 event recorder with integ­ rated ECM connectivity for ECM data collection. These instructions cover the mounting of the bracket and event recorder in the veh icle, electrical connections and cable routing , and testing. These instructions also cover installation of an optional accessory, the Remote Record Button.

ER-SF1 Installation Procedures

Installation of the ER-SF1 event recorder consists of these main sections. Each section has its own subsections as well:

I. Mount the Bracket and Event Recorder

CAUTION : To mount the bracket and event recorder, the air temperature must be at least 50°F (1 0°C). WARNING: Before mounting the bracket and event recorder, consult the vehicle manufacturer's recommendations and any applicable federal. state. provincial and local laws that prohibit mounting devices on a vehicle's windshield or other locations in a vehicle.

Review Mounting Location Gu idelines

CAUTION: An improperly positioned event recorder can reduce program effectiveness.

The event recorder needs to be mounted in a location that provides an unobstructed view of the driver and the road in front of the vehicle.

1. Interior-facing lens View: Must span from the outside shoulder of the driver to the outside shoulder of a front seat passenger. If possible, it should show the lap band of the seat­ belt.

2. Exterior-facing Lens View a. Must be inside the path of the wiper blades. b. Must capture a clear view of everything in front of the vehicle, beginning as close to the front of the vehicle as possible without cutting off the horizon.

To use the event recorder to temporarily gauge the best position, first loosen the torx screws so the event recorder can rotate in the bracket. Then hold it up to the windshield.

Mounting Location Recommendations and Restrictions

The figures below provide Lytx's recommendations for mounting the event recorder on the vehicle windshield that work within the guidelines set forth by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) *. However, some states have adopted laws that restrict locations where objects can be attached to the vehicle windshield. Always refer to any applicable federal, state, provincial and local laws that concern mounting devices on vehicle's windshield or other locations in a vehicle before choosing a mounting location.

*The FMCSA guidelines allow the event recorder to be mounted not more than 100 mm (4 inches) below the upper edge of the area swept by the windshield w ipers or not more than 175 mm (7 inches) above the lower edge of the area swept by the windshield wipers. . provided that the event recorder is located outside the driver's sight lines to the road and highway signs and signals. See 49 C.F.R. § 393 .60(e).

Prepare the Mounting Location

CAUTION: Steps 1 and 2. cleaning the area with the alcohol wipe and drying it. are crit­ ical to prevent the bracket from falling off later. CAUTION: Do not peel the backing from the adhesive strips on the bracket in this section.

1. Clean the mounting area on the windshield thoroughly with the alcohol wipe, removing any debris and moisture. This should be the area behind the rear view mirror on the passenger side or the equivalent area if there is no rear view mirror (see below). 2. Dry the mounting area thoroughly with a clean. dry cloth.

3. Following the mounting location guidelines above. hold the assembly in place and trace the outline of the bracket on the windshield with a marker. Make sure the traced gu ide marks are level. 4. Remove the event recorder from the mounting bracket. 5. Check the fit of the bracket against the windshield. If the windshield is curved. you may gently bend the bracket so it will lie flush aga inst the glass. 6. Check again to make sure you've selected the best mounting location . a. Sit in the driver's seat while holding the device up. Make sure it doesn't block the driver's view of the road. b. Turn on the wipers and rotate mirrors. sun visors, and other objects near the device to make sure they cannot block either lens.

Attach the Bracket and Event Recorder

CAUTION: The adhesive is very sticky. Once applied. it will not easily come off. Take care to attach the bracket to the mounting location properly. CAUTION: Do not apply excessive pressure as it may cause the windshield to break.

1. Remove the backing from the adhesive side of Figure A the bracket. 2. Carefully attach the bracket to the windshield. a. Place the top edge of the bracket aga inst the windshield, aligned with the marks. and make sure it is level.

b. Press the bracket firmly aga inst the w ind­ f igure B shield starting at the top and pressing t he sides downward. See Figures A and B. 3. Check from outside the vehicle for large air bubbles under the bracket. If you find any: a. Apply additional pr essure to the bracket. b. Slide a pin between the bracket and wind­ sh ield to let out the air. 4. Wa it 10 minutes to allow the bracket's adhesive to bond . 5. Place the event recorde r in the bracket. 6. Adjust the event recorder so it hangs vertically (p lumb). See Figure C. 7. Secu re the event recorder in the bracket using t he two T- 27 torx screws.

Refer to the vehicle manufacturer's service manual to determine if soldering, sealing crimp connections, Add-A­ Circuit, Posi-Tap, sealing butt connections, or OEM connections to open connection ports are approved. Never use plier tap products such as insulation displacement connectors (i.e . ScotchLoc connectors) when installing the ER-SF1.

All wires should be secured with tie wraps at least every two feet or less. Do not overtighten any tie wraps.

Wiring and Wire Termination Suggestions

WARNING: Failure to use proper wiring and wire terminations could lead to personal injury or property damage. The following Wire Termination Suggestions should be followed to ensure proper connections.

When installing the event recorder. there are several key rules to produce reliable electrical connections.

1. Use ONLY 16-gauge automotive primary wire to connect to automotive circuits. Specialty wire might be superior when used in its native environment. but not in the automotive field. (For example. Teflon wire is intended for high heat conditions, but should never be used for connections of the event recorder in the vehicle.) 2. For all connection methods, do not leave any exposed wire near the connector. 3. Prohibited connectors: The use of insulation displacement connectors (i.e . Scotchloc connectors; shown on left), quick slide connectors (shown on right), or non-sealing butt connectors is prohibited.

4. Solder joints: All solder joints MUST be insulated by either self-amalgamating tape (and over loomed with insulation) or cloth tape or adhesive-lined heat shrink. 5. Crimp style connectors: All crimp style connectors must be the sealing type. Verify the crimped connection is secure. Then heat up the connector to melt and seal it.

6. Posi-Tap connectors: Posi-Tap wiretap connectors may only be used inside the cab of the vehicle and only for event recorder inputs. These include ignition. turn signals, and brake.

7. Fuse taps/Add-A-Circuits: If using a fuse tap (Add-A-Circuit). make sure that the hot leg of the fuse receptacle connects to the leg of the fuse tap farthest from the connection wire. If installed backwards, a fuse tap will compromise the original circuit.

Basic Event Recorder Electrical Connections

A minimum of three connections are required for the event recorder to function. These leads are found on the Vehicle Inter­ connect Cable terminating at the female end of the Molex connector.

1. Red wire : Provides primary power and must be connected a continuous power source. This lead has a 5-amp inline fuse. 2. Brown wire : Functions as an ignition-sense. used by the event recorder to perform functions such as activating the Infrared Illuminator when the vehicle ignition is switched on or activating Hibernation mode when the ignition is switched off. This lead

has a 1-amp inline fuse . 3. Black wire : Functions as ground. Th is lead has a 5-amp inline fuse .

Connect the RED WIRE to a 72V/24 V Power Source that's ALWAYS ON

CAUTION: This is a fused connection. Do NOT cut off or remove t he inline fuse.

The event recorder always remains "on." This requires a 12V or 24V power source that is not controlled by the key nor any other device or switch. Typically, this connection is made just after the fuse box on the battery-side of any vehicle control modules. Use a voltmeter to make sure the circuit provides continuous 12V or 24V power when the key is removed from the ignition and all lights. devices and switches are off.

Ensure Sufficient Current Draw If you 're tapping into an existing vehicle wire, make sure it can handle the additional current draw of the event recorder. A wire that reads 12V on a voltmeter may not neces­ sarily be able to supply enough current to the existing circu it and the event recorder. The gauge of wire being tapped into provides a good indication. A larger gauge wire is often the best choice.

Connect the BROWN WIRE to 72V/24 V Power Source that's IGNITION-SWITCHED

CAUTION: Th is is a fused connection. Do NOT cut off or remove the inline fuse .

CAUTION: The brown wire to a 12V or 24V power source that is ignition-switched is important to ensure the event recorder can identify when the ignition is switched on and off and to control the event recorder's Hibernation mode. Th is connection requires a 12V or 24V power source that is "on" either when the ignition is keyed all the way forward to the ON position and all the way back to the OFF position. Failure to properly connect this fused connection may lead to vehicle battery drain.

Common Mistake for Brown Wire Connections This connection is often mistakenly made to a modulated circuit-one that comes out of a computer control module running some subsystem in the vehicle . This can give false ignition on/off signals. To avoid this. connect this wire to a circuit that is on the battery side of any modules. Consult the vehicle wiring schematics or a local authorized deal­ ership to obtain this information.

Connect the BLACK WIRE to a Good Solid Vehicle Ground

CAUTION: This is a fused connection. Do NOT cut off or remove the inline fuse.

This connection is usually made via ring terminal to ground lug in the vehicle. supplied by the vehicle manufacturer for aftermarket products. If one is not available, ensure that the connection is solid to a metal portion of the vehicle which is directly grounded to the vehicle frame. Ensure there is no corrosion or pa int interfering with this connection.

Instructions for Basic Connections

1. Find a suitable location to make electrical connections (usually behind/under the dash­ board or power distribution center). 2. Connect the red. brown, and black wires from the Vehicle Interconnect Cable leads to the vehicle as shown in the "Electrical Connection Overview Diagrams" on page 19. Be sure to follow the parameters for each wire, detailed above. 3. Cap off. coil, and secure the unused wires to the cable. This includes the white, blue, and purple wires.

Connect to the Vehicle Network

If the Lytx service purchased does not require connection to the vehicle OBD-11/ J1939 network, coil and secure the unused connector on the Standard Power Cable. Then, skip to "Route the Standard Power Cable" on page 27 .

Overview of OBD-11 Connections Male OBD-11 Diagnostic Connector This connector on theY-cable connects to the vehicle 080-11 diagnostic port.

Female OBD-11 Diagnostic Port This port on theY-cable replaces the vehicle 080-11 port 1 connected to the male connector. It's used to provide access to the 080-11 network for maintenance and inspection purposes.

Refer to the "Electrical Connection Overview Diagrams" on page 19 for the following steps.

1. Connect the 080-lllnterface Cable to the 080-11 Y-cable using the 15-pin cable connector. Secure the screws into the adapter piece.

2. Connect the other end of the 080-11 Interface Cable to the Standard Power Cable.

3. Secure the cable assembly behind the dash. Zip-tie this to a secure vehicle w iring harness or directly to the vehicle if an accessible mounting retention point is available. 4. Remove the vehicle 080-11 port from the vehicle dash mount. 5. Connect the vehicle 080-11 port to the Male 080-11 Connector on theY-cable.

6. Place the Female 080-11 Port from theY-cable into the vehicle dash mount. Secure it in place where the vehicle 080-11 port was originally located.

Connect to the Vehicle J1939 Network You may connect to the vehicle J1939 network with the CAN Coupler, a coupling device. This device uses inductive technology to allow the event recorder to read the data on the J1939 network without any puncture. cut, or splice into the vehicle cabling . Refer to the "Electrical Connection Overview Diagrams" on page 19 for the following steps.

1. Connect the CAN Coupler to the Standard Power Cable . 2. Find a suitable location along the vehicle J1939 network backbone to insert the CAN Coupler. The CAN Coupler MUST be installed in the vehicle cab. It cannot be exposed to moisture or inclement weather conditions.

3. Untwist approximately 2 inches of the vehicle's J1939 wires. which are always a green and yellow twisted pair.

4. Insert the vehicle's J1939 wires into the CAN Coupler with the yellow wire on the CAN­ HI (Y) side and the green wire on the CAN-LO (G ) side . Ensure that the wires are secured in the tabs provided and properly oriented.

5. Place the cap on the CAN Coupler.

Route the Standard Power Cable

WARNING: Make certain that neither the cable nor your installation activities interferes with any airbag-related mechanisms or otherwise risks affecting airbag deployment. Consult the vehicle manufacturer for the location of any airbag sensors and systems and restrictions that may apply. CAUTION : Before proceeding with this section. you may need to remove the window and door trim to route the cable underneath. These typically snap on and off using special clips. In vehicles with side and curtain airbags. the clips are often one-time use and may need to be replaced after removal. Please refer to the vehicle service manual for inform­ ation

1. Route the end of the Standard Power Cable from the adapter to the nearest door pillar. Route the cable behind and underneath the dash until reaching the kick panel. a. Note: Depending on where you make your connection po ints. the routing to the A pillar may vary. 2. Starting from below the dash near the kick panel. ro ute the end of the cable up the door pillar underneath the vertical door/window trim to the top of the door pillar.

3. Route the cable across the top of the windshield under the window trim or headliner to the ER-SF1 unit.

4. Connect the event recorder connector to the event recorder. Use the T8 security locking screw to lock and secure the connector in place. Loosen the screws to tilt the device so installation of the locking screw is easier.

5. Make sure the cable is clear of any sharp edges, moving parts. and cannot get pinched in the door jam. 6. Make sure the cable is tucked away and secured so that it cannot come loose. We recommend using cable-ties every few inches along the route of the cable to secure it in place.

Ill. Run Testing and Complete Installation Testing is important to make sure the device is connected to the vehicle systems properly and that no active faults exist in the vehicle system. Completion of the installation consists of these subsections:

Boot Up the Event Recorder and Test Event Creation

Test Wire Connections and Settings in the Lytx Installation Tool To finish testing. connect to the Lytx Install­ ation Tool, a wizard that walks you through testing step-by-step.

1. Connect a Windows laptop running the Lytx Installation Tool program to the ER-SF1 event recorder with the micro USB cable. Note: You may use a USB extension cable up to 3 feet in length to make this connection. 2. Launch the Lytx Installation Tool and follow the instructions and prompts. Ignition and the vehicle OBD-11/ J1939 connection (via engine RPM) can be verified with this program.

Complete Installation

1. Finalize all electrical connections. Use cable-ties to bundle and secure all wires. 2. Replace any trim pieces on the door pillar and dash that were removed. 3. Make sure the cable is routed safely and cannot get pinched in any moving parts. 4. Reaffirm you have taken the appropriate safety pr ecautions while working around vehicle airbags. 5. Keep the Torx wrench and this guide in a safe place for future use.

Conduct Final Checks

After installation of the ER-SF1 device but prior to any operation of the vehicle, check all vehicle system lights, signals, and any other devices (such as electronic log devices systems or CB radios) to make sure they are working properly. Minimum checks should include the following (consult the vehicle manufacturer's service manual for additional checks that must occur):

1. Constant power: Ensure the event recorder is powered when the ignition is off (12V/24V to red wire). 2. Switched power: Confirm 12V/24V to the brown wire when the ignition is on. 3. Ground: Ensure the black wire is connected to a solid grounding point in the vehicle with no paint or rust. 4. Event creation: Turn the vehicle on and press either Ft.ASHI G GREEN LIGHT PROGRESSION blue button on the event recorder. After check in or failure, the center green LED will come on. 6. Start the vehicle, cycle the transmission, and confirm there are no error codes/check engine lights.

7. Test the other vehicle components on the power circuit of the ER-SF1 to confirm their functionality, especially if the circuit is shared. 8. Verify and diagnose all active faults in the vehicle system, other devices, and the ER­ SF1 prior to completing the installation. 9. Place the driver safety card and the warning card included with the event recorder packaging on the driver's seat. 10. Place the decal indicating the vehicle is equ ipped with a recording device on the driver's seat. The customer is responsible for visibly displaying this decal.

Optionally, you may purchase and install the Remote Record Button for added functionality. The Remote Record Button allows drivers to manually record events using a push-button switch mounted in an easy-to-reach location, such as the dashboard. This is useful for drivers of larger vehicles in which the ER-SF1 event recorder is positioned out of reach of the driver's seat, preventing them from easily pushing one of the manual record buttons on the event recorder when seated in the driver's seat.

Materials For Standard size:

To install the Remote Record Button, you need the parts provided (pictured). Additionally. you need a hole saw or stepped cone cutter.

Mount the Remote Record Button

1. Find a suitable mounting location for the button: a. Standard size: The location must be within a fixed panel with space for a 0.75- inch (19 mm) hole. There must be 2.75 inches (70 mm) of clearance behind the panel. b. The location should allow the driver to easily push the button while seated in the driver's seat. c. The button should not be placed where the driver may accidentally push the button. 2. Using a hole saw/stepped cone cutter, drill a hole into the panel. 3. Bring the Remote Record Button assembly through the hole and connect it to the Vehicle Interconnect Cable. Refer to the "Electrical Connection Overview Diagrams" on page 19. 4. THE DEVICE SHOULD BE INSTALLED BY QUALIFIED TECHNICIANS. Only a properly qualified technician should install and maintain the ER-SF1 . Any electrical work should be performed only by an ASE (minimum T6 & L2), MECP or equivalent certified technician with an expertise in installing and troubleshooting advanced vehicle onboard components including multi­ plexed circuits. Lytx, Inc. disclaims all responsibility for any damages arising from improper installation and maintenance of the ER-SF1 .

Maintenance After installation has been completed, Lytx recommends inspection and maintenance be performed every time normal preventative maintenance is performed on the vehicle and anytime the Lytx Vehicle Event Recorder or its wiring and electrical connections are moved, re-installed or otherwise altered from their initial installation. Take these steps:

1. Visually inspect all electrical cables for pinches, fraying or wear. Electrical cables that are pinched or frayed may be found on vehicles where the electrical connection was incorrectly installed. Further, cables and wires may become worn or exposed over time due to contact with sharp edges or objects and when impacted by other electronic work, mechanical work, or installations. If any actual or potential cable/wire damage is detected, necessary repairs should be performed, potentially including re-installation of the Lytx device. 2. Visually inspect all electrical connections to ensure they are fully secured. Electrical connections may not be fully secured if the connection was incorrectly installed. They may also be loosened when impacted by other electrical work, mechanical work, or installations. 3. Visually inspect all wire and wire terminations to ensure they are proper and undam­ aged. Ensure that all wiring is undamaged and that all wire terminations are in conformance with the suggestions set forth in "Wiring and Wire Termination Sugges­ tions" starting on page 21.

Troubleshooting Issues After Installation

Lytx event recorders have bu ilt-in diagnostic tools to help troubleshoot issues you may exper­ ience. If you're having issues with the ER-SF1 event recorder, initiate the device 's Diagnostic Mode. In this mode. the device's LED status lights will help identify the specific component of the device that may be causing the issue.

This section provides instructions on how to initiate the Diagnostic Mode, definitions of each of the device's LED status lights, and steps for troubleshooting.

To initiate the Diagnostic Mode. the device must be rebooted. After the reboot sequence is finished, the device will enter the Diagnostic Mode. In itiate Diagnostic Mode

To initiate the Diagnostic Mode on the ER-SF1 , you must first reboot the device. To reboot the ER-SF1 , follow these steps:

1. Press and hold either of the blue manual record buttons on the device until the 3 center LED status lights turn blue (hold for about 30 seconds). After they light up, let go of the button. lytx DriveCam.

2. Immediately press and hold the manual record button again for up to 45 more seconds until all 7 LED status lights turn blue. After they light up, let go of the button. lytx DriveCam. At this point, the ER-SF1 will begin rebooting .

Diagnostics and Troubleshooting

After rebooting the device, it will enter Diagnostic Mode to reveal any issues with the device . Each of the seven LED status lights provides the status of a different component of the device as shown below. Please note:

• All LED status lights will turn red to start. Each LED will turn green when/if the corres­ ponding feature is confirmed as working properly.

• In Diagnostic Mode, the LED status lights will not turn any colors other than green or red. (Except for LED 2, which may also turn yellow.) • The device will stay in Diagnostic Mode for 5 minutes. Pay attention to the LED status lights during this time.

LED Component Troubleshooting Steps 1 Vehicle ignition If the engine is already turned on, turn the engine off and then back on . There may be an issue with the brown wire connection. Check the wire for damage. Gauge the wire w ith a voltmeter for 12V/24V with the ignition on. Check the vehicle fuse for that circuit. 2 GPS The device may be in an area with poor reception. Try re- locating to a different area and re-testing the signal. 3 Cellular signal There may have been a momentary issue. Try creating a manual event and then doing a forced check-in. To manually create an event. push either of the blue manual record buttons on the ER-SF1 . The LED status lights on the ER-SF1 w ill light up green one-by-one from the left to right until all are lit. ind icating the event has been created. After the event is created, hold one of the manual record buttons for 10 seconds to attempt a forced check-in to Lytx. The LED status lights will light up and blink one-by-one from the left to right until all are lit, indicating the check-in was successful. The device may be in an area with poo r reception . Try re- locating to a different area and re-testing the signal.

LED Component Troubleshooting Steps 4 Vehicle network data Start the vehicle. Ensure the vehicle is running . (ECM) J1939 Connections: The wires may be reversed over the CAN Coupler. Ensure that the Yellow wire is on the CAN _HI (Y) side of the Coup ler and the Green wire is on the CAN_LO (G) side. J1939 Connections: Ensure that the CAN Coupler connector is fully engaged. J1939 Connections: The CAN Coupler may not have been placed on the CAN backbone but on a stub. Try moving the Coupler to a different location . 080-11 Connect ions: Check that all cable connections are fully secured.
