2nd Vice-Chief CHIEFLY SPEAKING Jacob Whittington [email protected] Hey everyone!! I absolutely loved the turnout we had for Conclave! We 3rd Vice-Chief had just over forty members from our lodge attend, and Daniel Douglass [email protected] no matter what the judges say, our Tailypo booth was over the top. Although we came together as a team Secretary Adam Whittington then, I was more inspired by the team effort that you [email protected] guys did to pull of the Councils 100th Year Anniversary Treasurer May Event. That was amazing. We had over 100 people, William Sanders [email protected] an excellent show and many many compliments. With

the help of our amazing cook team, we had a wonderful Chapter Chiefs event. We have a couple of more work days coming up

Oconee C.C. and we have our Fall induction coming up, we also have James M Johnson registration for NOAC still open if you are interested. If [email protected] you haven’t heard, the national OA Ocmulgee C.C. people have made three changes, I Wyatt Guffey [email protected] sent that out in an earlier email if

Robert L Scott C.C. you have questions. Thank you eve- Colin Ostrat ryone!! I look forward to seeing [email protected] everyone at the Fall Induction and Advisor then the Fall Fellowship, where I Sheila Sweat [email protected] hope everyone is interested in run-

Staff Advisor ning for a position on the LEC. See Brianna Williams you then!! [email protected] www.echeconnee.org Thanks,

Page 4 In my opinion, Conclave is one of the most fun events in . From competing in many different competitions all day, to running a Tailypo booth and hanging out with your brothers all night, Conclave is definitely also an event to repeat. This is my sec- ond time going, and while Coosa did an awesome job hosting the 2018 Heartland Gathering, I believe I-Tsu-La did just as an amazing job hosting the 2019 Conclave. This year, it was hosted by I-Tsu-La at Black Creek Reservation in April. We kicked off the event with an awesome campfire in a field under a bunch of stars. We went to bed that night and woke up to a really cool sunrise over their lake with a bridge. The day of events kicked off with optional trainings in the morning, and a really cool Expo opportunity in which several businesses showed off their stuff. That after- noon, our lodge went head to head in the quest events, against other lodges. We won in the first round of Wichixin but sadly fell short in the other events. All in all, Echecon- nee is still the reigning volleyball champions. After quest events, we had another amazing campfire, where we played a memorable game of OA family feud. After campfire Echeconnee kicked off the night with our carnival themed Tailypo booth. From several different carnival games, to face painting, to cotton candy, we cake to- gether as a lodge and pulled off an awesome booth...to everyone except the judges, we got second in Tailypo booth. I competed in a sickening pie eating contest, and did- n’t do quite that good. The next morning, we had our awards ceremony, where we placed for our Deerpath, and got first place for our Facebook account. Mrs Stephanie Rumley even brought home a first place award in the Dutch oven cook off in the name of our lodge. I would like to thank all 46 members who made this years Conclave and want to see all of you (and more!) at next years. Ben Lilley

Calling of the Council, 3-5 May 2019

In 1919, our very own Central Georgia Council was formed. The Central Georgia Council was established in 1919 as the Macon Council and officially chartered by the BSA in 1921. Since that time, CGC has served many thousands of prominent alum- ni and continues to serve over 5,600 youth each year in 24 counties in Middle Geor- gia. To commemorate this milestone, Echeconnee Lodge #358 hosted a 100th Anni- versary Celebration at Camp Benjamin Hawkins from 3-5 May 2019. The weekend was filled with various events for Scouts, Explorers, and Venturers, plus a full Satur- day for Cub Scouts and Webelos. Scouts were able to spend time on the Archery, BB Gun, and Rifle Ranges, canoe on the lake, climb and rappel, participate in high and low COPE events, complete service projects, participate in traditional and mod- ern scouting games, and enjoy some great food and campfires. The event was en- joyed by all, and the lodge members marked their calendars for the next centennial celebration in May 2119! Hope to see you there.

April 27, 2018 April 27, Saturday

Hello everyone! Saturday morning I received an email from the OA guys at national. The email stated that due to the decrease in numbers across the country, they have made three large changes effective immediately. The first change is that the length of time to earn brotherhood has gone from ten months to only six months, all other requirements are remaining the same. The second change is the OA is no longer participating in the usual JTE (Journey to Excellence), but will participate in a new program called Performance Measurement Program. The goals are still large but much easier to obtain and reach. The third change is that the section level will also be required to not only hold a sectional event, Conclave (which you should all attend), but they are also required to help us reach our goals and help with membership. SR-9 is com- ing up with their own plan and I will let you know what that is when it is released.

Please ask Mrs. Sheila or I if you have any further questions.

Thanks, Ben Lilley

Straight From the Witatehimoisin (Adviser)… Greetings Arrowmen, We all have been very busy this Spring preparing for the Central Georgia Council’s 100th Anniversary Campo- ree. After a number of meetings and planning during the past year, nearly 100 Arrowmen served to assure CBH was ready for the event and to lead activities throughout the weekend. Though attendance was not as high as we all hoped, the smiling Scouts said enough to assure me that the event was successful! I am very proud of our youth who led through all stages of the event. I especially want to say thank you to Victor Witsch and Lou Lilley. Great job guys! The Spring Induction went very well. The service projects completed have and will impact scouts who attend events at CBH for many years to come. One of those projects was laying a water line to connect with the county water line and another cut trees that will be eventually milled for projects at CBH. I am excited to report that more than half of the new youth members attended the SR-9 2019 Conclave. All who attended had a good time at Conclave. As mentioned above by our Chief, there are some significant changes occurring for the Order of the Arrow. Based on the new requirements for Brotherhood eligibility, all who completed their induction in March 2019 will be eligible to seal their membership as a Brotherhood member during the September Induction week- end. I encourage everyone to do so and spend the weekend serving as an Elangomat or helping the ceremo- nies team as a ceremonialist or with setup to name a few of many places you can make a difference. If you don’t know how to help ask our Chief, Ben Lilley, lodge officers, or myself. I hope you all have a great summer! WWW, Sheila Sweat
